《Soulmates/ Jolby》Chapter fourteen

"I just don't think a winter wedding is the best idea." Jake says from his spot on Colby's lap.
"Babe, it would be beautiful!" The other man argues.
Jake laughs at his fiancé's answer before turning to straddle Colby's lap.
"I'm not saying it wouldn't be beautiful, but you're a drama queen. You'll be complaining that it's cold five minutes in." Jake says while looking into Colby's eyes.
Colby looked like he was about to argue, but stops himself. "Yeah, you're right." He laughs a bit.
The two lovers are quiet for a few short minutes, until Colby has another question, "What about a fall wedding?"
Jake thinks for a second before replying, "I love that idea."
Colby, being shocked that Jake liked his idea, grins and leans in for a kiss.
"You're the best thing that has ever happened to me." Colby says after the kiss.
"Fuck, I love you." Jake replies, a smile on his lips.

"Babe! Have you seen my XPLR hoodie?" Jake yells from his and Colby's closet.
"I think you left it in the car!" Colby yells back from their bed.
Jake sighs before heading outside to the car to get his favorite hoodie. Seeing the hoodie in the backseat, Jake grabs it and pulls it over his head.
With his mission complete, Jake starts his way back inside. The only thing that stops him is a growl from the woods. Being the curious person he is, Jake makes his way over to the sound.
'I should really go get Colby. . .' Jake thinks to himself.
Jake, not listening to himself, gets to the area where the growl came from. The curious boy doesn't see anyone, so he decides to head back inside; that is until he hits his foot on something. Looking down, Jake finds an old looking book, the cover of it is in another language. Grabbing the book from the ground, Jake makes his way back inside, making sure to hide the book under his shirt.
When he gets back to his room, Colby isn't there. Seeing this moment as a good opportunity to look at the book, Jake pulls his find out of his shirt. Finding his courage, Jake opens the hard cover. The pages of the book resemble the same language on the cover, they look old and Jake can tell someone has used the book many times before this.

After looking at the book for a few more minutes, Jake decided that it's time to tell Colby about the mysterious treasure he found.
•••
The walk to the living room was long, and Jake was starting to rethink telling Colby about the book.
'What If he gets mad?' Jake thinks to himself.
Jake doubts that his laid back Alpha would get too mad at him, but he still has his hesitations towards the idea.
The worry that Jake started to feel, goes away when he spots his fiancé in the kitchen. Jake knows he needs the man's help, and fast.
"Colbs? I need your help with something. . ."
Once the words are out of his mouth, the young Alpha looks up at his mate with worry and concern on his face. Colby starts to make his way toward Jake.
"Anything, my little mate." Colby replies, taking Jake's hand.
Jake pulls the book out of his sweatshirt, and sits it on the table.
"I heard a growl when I went to go get my sweatshirt; I went over to where I heard it, and found this. I decided to look at it a little bit before bringing it to you." Jake explains.
Colby is looking at the book, and at Jake, with no emotion. Jake is nervously biting at his nails, while Colby just stands there. Finally, the man grabs the book and starts to inspect it. Colby's face goes white when he realizes what the book is.
"Quit biting your nails, you'll make them bleed." Colby says, turning to face Jake.
Instinctively, Jake drops his hand to his side. He looks at Colby curiously.
"And the book?" Jake asks.
Colby looks at the book before answering, "You shouldn't have touched it, it's a spell book that witches use. These are very dangerous to touch, Jake, it could have been cursed. Next time you find something weird, come to me first." Colby explains, a look of concern is back on his face.
"I didn't think of that. . . I'll come to you, I promise." Jake weakly smiles at Colby.
Colby pulls Jake in for a hug, the hug lasting what felt like forever.
"I can't lose you. . ." Colby whispers in Jake's ear.

"You'll never lose me. I'm right here. I'll always be right here." Jake whispers back.
The two lovers pull away from the hug. Colby leans in and gives Jake a kiss. The kiss get so passionate, and loving that Jake's knees almost gave out of him. When the kiss was over, both men are breathing heavily; forehead to forehead.
"Witches, you say?" Jake asks a few seconds after the kiss.
Colby chuckles at his mates curiousness, "Yeah. You know, someone in the house is a witch. . ."
Jake shoots away from Colby, only a little bit, to look at him straight in the eyes.
"And you didn't tell me, or that person, why?" Jake asks, a glare on his handsome face.
"I didn't want to bring them into that life. Witches. . . They're power hungry creatures. I didn't want one of my pack members hurt." Colby explains, a sigh making its way out of his mouth.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Jake asks once again.
"Because I knew you would make me tell the person." Colby replies with a small smirk.
"Damn right I would! Call a pack meeting right now, and tell everyone!" Jake sternly says.
Colby, not having the guts to go against what his mate says, texts the group chat.
'Pack meeting. 10 mins.' The text read.
"There. Happy?" Colby asks playfully.
"Not until they know the truth."
•••
Ten minutes go by fairly quickly for Colby. Soon he is greeted by his pack coming into the living room, all of them smiling.
"Whatcha want Alpha?" Aaron asks playfully.
The young Alpha could barely come up with a weak smile. Jake grabs Colby's hand, as if to say it'll be okay.
"I've been keeping something from you guys. . ." Colby hesitates.
"Someone in this room is a witch." Colby can see the worry that forms on his friends faces.
"Not dangerous! But they need to know." Colby adds.
"Just tell us, Cole." Sam says from the other couch.
"It's Kat."
Kat jumps a little at the sound of her name coming out of her Alphas mouth.
"Me. . .?" Kat asks, hiding herself from view behind Sam.
"Yeah. I smelt it on you when we found Devyn and you. I don't know why I couldn't smell it before, but I can now." Colby explains.
"Listen, I would never let anything, or anyone, hurt you. I'll train you the basics, but I'll have to call someone in to teach you more." He adds.
"Why did you keep it from me?" Kat ask, a few tears threatening to spill out.
Colby makes his way over to her and kneels in front of her distraught figure.
"I didn't want the other witches to find you. They can be. . . Power hungry."
"I hope you understand." He adds.
Without saying anything, Kat leaps forward to hug her dear friend.
"I know you did it to protect me." She whispers in his neck.
The two friends hug for a bit longer before pulling away.
"When do we start?" Kat asks with one of her big grins.
Colby chuckles, "Right now."
•••
"Yeah, put that there. Okay, yeah. . . Good job!" Colby yells, smiling from ear to ear.
Kat and him have been training for a few days now, and she just accomplished her first potion. All Colby knew how to do with witchcraft, is one or two potions. The man knew he was going to have to call someone, and soon.
"That was great!" Kat yells excitedly.
Colby can hear a chuckling Sam and Jake from the doorway.
"Can we do another one?" Kat asks.
"Well, that's all I know how to do. I'm going to have to call someone tonight."
The girl nods her head, understanding that her Alpha was doing his best. Kat and Sam walk away, Kat still talking about how fun her first potion was.
"You know, I might know someone who can help." Jake says from the doorway.
"Who?" Colby asks his fiancé.
The man smirks before walking away, wiggling his iPhone at Colby.
