I took Dr miller's permission to leave the department in the middle of my shift, fortunately Dr kent agreed to cover for me.
I went back to my appartment to grab some cloths and some money then I embarked on my journey to LA.
I knew that whatever was wrong with my grandma it didn't look good, she was an old woman in her late seventies who became a wheelchair ridden patient years ago.
She had diabetes and hypertension, so any complication could happen.
This journey from San Fransisco to LA was the hardest, my tears have beaten me multiple times but I tried to hold on. I was about to crash my car at one point but Allah saved my life.
I loved my grandma and chiriched her deeply, she was not only a grandma for me but also a friend.
They have always told me that I've got my sense of humor from her.
I was afraid that hassan wasn't telling me the while truth, and that when I arrive at LA I would find out that she was gone.
Finaly when I arrived at my house, I got off my car and sprinted through the garden to the door of the house, I opened the door with my trembling hand and went in.
The house was dark and dead silent, and with that my heart literally stopped.
I started to panic and cry.
" Oh God.... I'm late " I said to myself.
Suddenly the lights went on, and I saw my whole family standing in front of me including my grandma.
I ran to her " Grandma.... Grandma..... Your okay... Alhamdulilah... Alhamdulilah" I said kissing her hand.
" I'm okay Jannah.....I'm okay" she said laughing.
" What was that Hassan??? That wasn't funny at all!!! You almost killed me!!! " I shouted angerily at my brother.
" Oh sorry... Sorry....that was a good prank, I got you good girl" he kept laughing.
" Hassan, you knew how much I loved grandma, why did you do this???" I shouted at Hassan, chasing him this time.
" Okay... Okay.. Stop it there is some body else here who loves you too... Wait for it " Hassan said, winking.
" What? What do you mean??" I stopped chasing after him.
" Hay " a familiar voice - that I can never mistake for anybody else - said.
I looked behind me and it was nobody other than James.
" Wh... What are you doing here?" I said in confusion, with my heart beating irregularly.
He didn't say a word, he just gave me a sweet smile.
" Can anybody expl....?" I couldn't finish my sentence as they shushed me immediately.
I looked at him, and he was just looking me in the eyes like we were the only ones not only in that room but also in the whole universe.

" Jannah Mohamed, Where I Come from, love stories are supposed to be cliche, they always begin by metting in a bar, a cafe or the gym.
But mine was different, I kept losing you over and over again, each time I thought I would get over it, I thought I would forget, but I couldn't. Then somehow miraclously we end up finding our way back to each other.
Because it takes my whole life to fall for you, it takes everyday to fall for you.
The first time I laid eyes on you I knew you would be different because you came from adifferent culture, but when I got to know you for who you really are, I knew that you were one of those people whom we are supposed to never let go once we meet, because they are just irreplaceable, Jannah... " I cut him off.
" Why are you telling me this now James? You are freaking me out " I said.
" Shush... Let him finish, girl " My grandma said.
" I was the luckiest person in this whole universe to get to know you for who you really are, a unique person that can never be repeated or replaced, I can't believe that God chose me to discover a treasure like you, because I knew I wasn't a very good person, until I met you, you changed me, you brought out the best in me.
But as I grew older and my resposibilties became bigger and bigger, I knew I need a rock, an anchor to keep me going on, and you were the only person that I've ever Come across in life that understood the battles that were going on in my own mind.
Every time I prayed, I asked Allah to meet you again, just to speak to you, to know wether life was good or bad to you. Now I know that you are the answer to my prayrs.
I was afraid that if I ever cross paths again, you would be already taken, and that God doesn't want us to end up together. That's why Jannah when we met again and I found out that men were completely blind not to steal you, I promised myself that I would never let you go, Jannah there is no version of my life that you are not part of, I want my life to beginand end with you, so.... " he knelt on one knee" Would you- Jannah Mohamed- give me the extraordinary privilge of becoming my rock, my anchor and my army......would you marry me? " He said.
As he spoke, the memories we shared kept coming back to me, flashing in front of my eyes.
They werenvt only memories, they seemed like a lifetime.
I was speechless, I didn't know what to say or what to do, I kept thinking maybe this is our happily ever after, maybe Allah wants to reward us for all the patience and all the hardships we have gone through.

All my life led to this-out of this world- moment.
What made it more awkward was that James never broke his eye contact with me, he was watching me melting down in front of him like an ice statue, it was the sweetest embarrassing moment in my life.
I couldn't believe my eyes or my ears, I was afraid that it would turn out to be a dream too, but a voice has woken me up from my conscious coma.
" Come on girl.... Say it" My grandma said.
I wanted words to Come out of my mouth, but I sounded like a toddler, learning how to speak for the first time.
" Mmmm....mmm... Oh God!!! What am I supposed to say??? What am I supposed to say??? " I said freaking out.
" I am waiting for your answer even if it takes an eternity" James said, trying to reassure me.
" Okay.... Look away " I said.
I thought that if he breaks eye contact with me, words would Come out of my mouth intellgible.
" Okay " he said turning his back on me.
"Okay... Okay... Breath Jannah... Get the words you have waited your whole life to say out of your mouth " I kept saying to myself.
" Come on Jannah, We don't have all day, Some of us need to go to work to make a living, he is a billionaire, he can never go to work and can still live like a king, most of us can't " Hassan said jokingly.
I kicked his leg to shut him up.
" Ouchh... Jannah " he moaned in pain.
" Can I take some time to think about it?? It's really a big decision and I don't want to rush it" I said sarcastically to alleviate the tension.
" Really... Girl " Hassan said pushing my back, taking his revenge.
James kept laughing.
" Hey I'm not complaining, take your time, don't mind me I'll be standing here" James said.
" Okay.. Okay... Here is my answer.." I said before Hassan cut me off.
" Drums please... And the oscar goes to.." Hassan said, before I pinch the hell out of his arm, most probably giving him a bruise.
Then I looked at James
" Yes...... Yes... A billion times Yes.. What took you so long???? " I finally said after taking a deep breath.
Suddenly, my mum and my grandma began to celebrate the Egyptian way, by making celebratory sounds with their mouths by hitting the tongue against the mouth roof, something we call " Zaghareet ". * the video.
James came to face me, he wanted to hug me, but Hassan stopped him.
" Hay.. You.. I'm standing right here, after marrige loverboy " Hassan said, pretending to be serious.
" I can't believe it... binch me Jannah" James said.
" Oh believe me you don't want her to pinch you, plus I said no touch except after marriage" Hassan said, putting his hand on the site Where I pinched him.
" I can't believe it too James....pinching wouldn't work for me, I think I need to be hit to make sure I'm awake " I said.
" I would happily carry out your wish " Hassan intervened.
" Shut up " I said.
" So that's how you treat your brother after you gaurantee being with your boy " then he looked at my mother and said "Mum, I disapprove of this marriage.. I take it back..." I put my hand on his mouth to shut him up.
" Aren't you forgetting some thing pretty boy?" my grandma said speaking to James, pointing at his hand.
" Oh... The ring.. right.. My bad.. I didn't do this before" James said apologizing.
" But I already have your ruby ring, remember? There is no need for another ring " I said.
" No.. The ruby ring was a souvenir for you to remember me, this is your wedding ring " he said.
James opened a small blue velvet covered box, and got out the most beautiful diamond ring I've ever seen.
" Oh my God " I said in amazement.
" Okay big brother, can I put the ring on her finger? Or are you going to shoot me in the head for it?" James said to Hassan.
" Yeah.. Yeah.. go ahead.. You get a pass this time " Hassan said.
I extended my hand for James to put the ring on, his hand made minimal contact with mine and the ring fit my finger perfectly.
It was very sparkly, it reflected light from every direction.
It had the most amazing colour of diamonds I've ever seen.
It had a big central pink diamond, and smaller ones scattered around.
" This is so beautiful that it makes me feel guilty" I said.
" You always feel guilty when you get expensive things, I've never seen a girl react like this " James said.
" Yeah.. If you feel guilty.. Just give it me.. I'll save you the guilt " Hassan said.
My grandma grabbed my hand to see the ring.
" You do have a taste pretty boy " she said to James.
" I would bring her a piece of the moon If I could " he said.
Suddenly, the door knocked and Hassan opened it.
It was shahd back from School, I haven't seen her in a long time.
When she saw us she said,
" What did I miss?? "
" Oh you have missed everything " Hassan said.
