《The Girl Who Stutters and The Boy Who Mutters》Chapter Forty Three

"C'mon it wouldn't really hurt would it?" I look up at Oakland as he slides the shot glass over towards me. The music at this party is booming and I'm starting to wonder why I agreed to follow Oakland to this night club in the first place. Clubbing isn't even my kind of thing and I was stupid to think that just because it's evident that Scott is cheating on me that it could be.

I look away from Oakland and glance around at the chaos that surrounds me. I will never be able to understand how anyone would even want to be in a place like this on purpose. People grinding on other people and making out in various corners, even the food is shit. I mean if the food were any good at all I could understand but in this case I just can't. Why is it so appealing to people to waste their youth partying when they could be doing something to improve their futures. Not to mention how hot it is in here. I feel like I can't even breathe.

As my eyes stop on a specific person standing on the dance floor my heart does too. Parker is standing there smirking in my direction, not dancing, as if he doesn't even notice any of the people surrounding him. As if people aren't bumping into him left and right. But then all of a sudden Mr. O'neil comes from behind him and places his hand on Parker's shoulder as they both just stare at me.

I can't breathe.

I'm about to turn around to turn around to say something to Oakland but what if I'm just being delusional again? What if they're right about me going crazy? What if they're not there and I'm just going to make a fool of myself again? But it doesn't seem like their going away! They're just standing there staring at me like I'm the only thing in the room right now.

I shut my eyes but the picture of them just standing there is still very clear even with my eyes shut. I open my eyes and look up at the people standing on the dance floor to see that they aren't there anymore.

They aren't there anymore?

I really can't breathe now.

I begin hyperventilating and I look over at Oakland who is staring at me. I can see his mouth begin moving but I can't hear anything that he's trying to say. The music and his voice have both seemed to fade into silence as I place my hand on my chest and gulp for air. But my throat feels too dry to even get air into. I look down at the shot glass that Oakland gave to me earlier and grab it before downing it. It burns a lot but slowly everything comes back into focus and I'm grabbing Oakland's glass and downing his too.

"-happend?" I look up and Oakland is staring at me with a concerned look on his face and his eyebrows are furrowed. I guess he was talking to me.

"W-what?"

"I was asking what just happened?" Oakland asks staring me in the eyes and sliding his hand up so that it's placed on top of my own. "You were freaking me out there for a minute, you were just staring at nothing then you starting breathing really deeply."

"I'm f-fine," I say shaking me head then holding up the shot glass. "C-can you g-get me another one of t-these?"

"You just drank two," he says raising his eyebrows at me suspiciously. "A few seconds ago you didn't want one at all and now you're asking for more?"

I nod and the rest of the night just becomes a blur.

"Scott are you there?" I hear Falon ask but I'm stuck with staring at the two people standing at me door. All of a sudden Oakland points at me before falling face first on the floor. I look down at him as he cuddles up into a little ball. I back up at Abby who is laughing and pointing at him.

"I might need your help with something Falon," I tell my brother as I Abby looks back up at me squinting. "How far away are you?"

"Just a whisper."

"Would you please get your ass back home?" I raise my eyebrow at Abby as her eyes widen as if she's just realizing something then she glares at me. "I think Abby and Oakland are drunk."

"Oakland?" My brother asks before yawning. "Isn't that a tree?"

"It doesn't matter you idiot," I mutter as Abby slowly slides to the ground before leaning on Oakland who is now passed out on the floor. "Abby's parents are staying here and she'll be in a shitload of trouble if they find her like this."

"What does that have to do with me?" He groans. "You can't just expect me to get up and leave can you? I still have my post sex boner man. Do you really wanna take the next round away from me?"

"I didn't really need to know any of that," I say and I hear a smacking sound again.

"Stop hitting me babe," Falon says and I look down at Abby and Oakland to see Abby still glaring at me. I smile a little bit at her but she just keeps glaring at me and I awkwardly turn around. "If you want round three you're gonna have to stop harassing me. Anyways listen man I'd love to help you but I don't think my attendance is completely necessary."

"Dude you know I've never been good with handling these things," I say beginning to panic a little. "I don't know how to get the smell off of their clothes without giving them both baths and what the hell am I suppose to do with Oakland."

"Listen I don't know why you continue to bring up this tree but-"

"Dude I'm freaking out," I say looking back at the two drunks behind me, one glaring at me and one drooling on my floor. "Abby is giving me a really creepy death stare and you and Daniel always helped me when my friends and I would get trashed and I just can't deal with this right now Falon I have absolutely no idea what to do about any of this and-"

"Alright Scott calm down," Falon sighs. "I'll be over there soon then I guess I'll just have to get rid of my post sex boner in the car on my way there."

"I did not need to know that at all," I say shaking my head at my idiotic brother. "You probably shouldn't bring Anna. I feel like she'd blame me for all of this."

"Well get over it," He says and I can hear Anna asking about what he's doing. "If I have to get up and lose this post sex boner so does she. Come on babe."

Suddenly I hear the phone go off and I look at it to see that either the call got disconnected or Falon hung up. I'm going to assume the latter. I rub my forehead tiredly and look over at Abby who's still looking at me but is squinting again as if she's trying to figure something out. Then all of a sudden she flips me off before laying down onto Oakland and raising her eyebrows at me as if she's trying to challenge me.

This is going to be another long night.
