"Well then, Y/n. Would you like to join the demon slayer corps as a Tsugoku?" Kagaya asked.
"I can be a Hashira." She sarcastically replied. But when he didn't leave her sight, she sighed. "Fine, fine! Stop glaring at me!" She complained.
The hashiras sweat dropped at her. Kagaya wasn't even glaring. Turning around the Hashiras who stared back at her with wide open arms. "Who wants to be eaten?" She asked.
Everyone stared dumbfounded. "Y/n." Kagaya called in scolding.
"Just asking. Anyways, who wants to take me in?" She asked again. No one spoke, only looked at each other. "What's a tsugoku by the way?" She asked curiously.
"You're a slayer and you don't know?!" Sanemi hissed.
"Uh." She raised one eyebrow. "That's why I'm asking, Marechi." She replied sarcastically.
"Stop calling me marechi!" The silver haired responded in distaste.
But all the sudden, she was already in front of him with a blink of an eye. Her supposed E/c colored eyes gleamed into bright yellow and the supposed whites turned into black ones, but it changed back that only him was able to catch a glance.
"You--"
"Y/n." Kagaya called once again.
She backed away again with a grin. "What? I was just looking closely. I already said that he wasn't appetizing." Placing both hands on her back, she sat beside the shade of the house.
"Oyakata-sama! I cannot accept this! She's a demon!" Sanemi exclaimed.
Everyone suddenly prepared their swords which she simply watched with amusement. "This is what I've been telling you, Y/n L/n." Kagaya sighed. "Please, everyone, calm your hearts. Y/n is not a demon."
"People in this era are very scaredy cat people." She hummed.
"Which is why I told you not to provoke people."
"Habbits die hard." She shrugged.
"Tsugoku are the ones second to Hashiras. Once the Hashira dies, the Tsugokus will take their place." Finally, the quietest of them all spoke: the water Hashira.
She nods. "Okay. Thanks lonely being."
As if lightning stroke him, he paled. The girl could only tilt her head when some hashiras covered their mouth to stop their laughter.
"So. I'm not a minute anymore?" She asked, her tongue giving away.
"It's mizunoto, Y/n." The fire Hashira cleared.
"You must learn to pronouns things flamboyantly." The sound hashira added
The girl hummed. "M'kay." She swayed her feet that hovered on the ground as she sat. "So, who wanna adopt me?" She asked.

Nobody spoke again.
"Kay. I'll be a Hashira then." She nodded to herself. Everyone stared at her questioningly. "No. I don't like responsibilities." She quickly declined her option.
"Then it would be better if you choose for yourself." Kagaya suggested. "Whoever you choose, you'll become their tsugoku."
She eyed the boss of these Hashiras before her eyes returned to them who was staring back at her. She jumped off from the side of the port as she walked and faced closely every Hashira.
"Too grumpy, too out of this world, I just don't like you, you are very dramatic, uh I can see too much energy brimming from you, you're too flamboyant I can't keep up, you're too nice I want to strangle you, you're too shy as if you fell in love with me and you're too sad."
"Too grumpy?" Sanemi gritted his teeth.
"What's the color of the sky again?" Muichiro muttered selflessly.
"Who the hell likes you as well?" Obanai shot back as his snake hisses.
"Child, you make me very sad." Gyomei's tears fell down his cheeks again.
Rengoku laughed. "Hardships is what makes you stronger."
"Well, I do everything with utmost flamboyance." Uzui smiled proudly.
Shinobu tilted her head with a questioning close eyed smile. "I'm not very nice, Y/n." She corrected.
"I-- I... you're too cute when you insult people with a serious thinking face..." Misturi mumbled shyly.
Giyuu just looked away... sadly.
"So, have you picked someone, Y/n?" Kagaya asked again.
"Well." She sighed, making her way towards the water hashira with her face tilting sideways. "Guess he's one of the guys going to go as far as commiting seppuku for Nezuko's well-being so I guess I'll tolerate him for the sake of my cinamon rolls." She said, meeting with his blank blue eyes with her e/c ones.
"Then, Giyuu Tomioka. Will you accept this task?" Kagaya asked.
The said person quickly kneeled in front of him. "If it's Oyakata-sama's wish then I will gladly accept this unruly brat as my tsugoku." He replied without hesitation.
She eyed him with a mocking huff which he ignored.
The man in the shade smiled. "Thank you. Y/n. I hope you'd restrain yourself as you are now a hashira's tsugoku." He said.
Y/n sighed. "For the sake of coffee." She said in defeat.
Everyone looked at her with questioning gazes. For the sake of coffee? That was a ridiculius conclusion.
But she's weird so they didn't further pry to this issue anymore.

"Y/n, were you anywhere injured during your jobs?" Kagaya asked.
It was an odd question. Of course demon slayers get injured during their missions if something goes wrong. But what did he mean?
"Not really." She hummed.
"Then I'm relieved. You are a very efficient slayer." He praised with a soft spoken honest tone.
"So, you will not let the eggshit overwork me anymore?" She asked. Her achievement should be enough for a promotion of easier jobs, right?
He nods lightly. "Of course. I apologize for the previous pestering. That continuous jobs for that passed two weeks were only because the locations are close to your area which is why I asked Tori to let you handle it." He explained.
She huffed. "I became famous and they started offering me sweet potatoes and danggo. What am I going to do with those garbage?" She asked, almost too unhappy with them.
The Hashiras are baffled once again. She call food garbage? What? Is she from a rich family?
She turned around and walked towards Sanemi again. Does she really has grudge against the poor wind hashira, or what? "Marechi, since you already wounded yourself, can I have a bite?" She asked with a soft childlike demeanor.
Everyone was quiet.
However, the said hashira quickly retreated his wounded arm from her sight. She's getting too bold!
"I knew it. You're a demon!" Sanemi accused.
She laughed sarcastically. "Don't compare me to a livestock. Are you really that stupid?"
But as she was about to fight with Sanemi, she felt herself leaping off the air as she was now taller than her supposed enemy, her eyes wide as she felt her stomach getting uncomfortable. "Oyakata-sama. I would like to excuse myself and my new tsugoku." Giyuu asked as he has now slung the young girl in his shoulder like a sack.
"Of course, my child." Kagaya permitted.
"Hey wait! I haven't had a bite yet!" The girl struggled from the iron grip that was restraining her legs. But the water hashira isn't planning on letting her loose from all the trouble she is doing as he walked off while carrying the new tsugoku in a not so very gentleman manner. Why was the human so strong? Y/n wallowed in shameful defeat as she was not able to free herself.
The man was quiet all the way as she placed a palm on her chin with a pout. "I should have chose the marechi so I could piss him off." She murmured.
"Then your head would be hanging on the cherry tree before you know it." The quiet Giyuu decided to join the one sided conversation as he still walked on the road.
She clicked her tongue. "Why did you protect Nezuko?" She decided to ask.
He didn't respond.
"Hey." She pinch his back making him flinch a little. But still ignored her. "Hey." She called again and now pulled his hair tie as his messy hair unravelled around his head.
"Y/n. I suggest you stop." Giyuu warned.
She hissed. "Hey." She said again.
Through out the walk, he ignored her until they were in his residence. It wasn't as big as the wisteria mansion. But it did fit a lot of people so to say. The furnitures and decorations aren't that many and some caligraphy were hanging on the walls.
In short. It was decent so she didn't complain.
He put her down when he got into the door and entered. She followed selflessly.
"Yeah, where is Nezuko now?" She asked.
"Butterfly hall." He replied quietly.
She kicked her sandals off the door way before stepping up the floor that was covered in tatami mats. The estate was cool but not too cold too. It was much cozy and comfortable.
She kept following him around to irritate him but his expressionless face got in the way of her attempts. She can't tell if he wants to strangle her now or later or never so she gave up. She was too bored that she lay on the floor with her stomach, her feet playing up in a rythmic way.
However, as she was about to enjoy her lazy nap, she was interrupted by the light kick on her feet. Looking up to see Giyuu staring at her blankly. "Your room." He pointed to a sliding door to the end of a corridor.
"Okay." She lazily replied and dug her face into her arms as pillows again. She was lazy now to the point of not standing and simply doing nothing.
Meanwhile, Giyuu was seriously in utmost regret. The little brat is supposed to be his tsugoku! And that tsugoku who was supposed to respect him as her senior and as a hashira is now testing his patience. If he hadn't carried her away, she might have gone and caused a bigger problem for Oyakata with her provocative attitude.

Is it a mistake to challenge fate, after all? *** The world-building is set upon on the universal scale, with dungeon and old-style fantasy. It has a progression that follows with the consistency of a dungeon setting, although it's not what you call a dungeon, but a function of a crystal. There's a lot to take in this novel, but that's all within my intention. I have always enjoyed challenging conventional ideas. The cover is not mine, it's just temporary.
