《Arranged Marriage to The Devil》Chapter 29: Birthday Crash

Today is the day I finally turn 18!

I'm excited. My heart is pumping, my hands are shaky but it's all worth it.

I was putting on my make up when I heard sniffles coming from my bedroom door. I looked over and saw mom swelling with tears and a tissue in her hand. "My baby is grown up!" She blew her nose loudly with the Kleenex in her hand. "I remember when you were six months old. Barely talking.." she began to whimper her tears.

"Mom," I whined, "Calm down. I'm just turning 18, I'm not moving out!"

" You will soon for school Alex," she cried.

I wonder how she's going to be like when I move out?

I went back to my seat and finish putting on my make up. "Let's not talk about it now. Let's talk about the party you planned for me?"

Mom knew I was changing the subject but went along anyways. "Andrew actually planned the party. Along the help with Leah. It's being hosted at the Carter's. Alec and Savannah will be supervising,"

I smiled; mom believes that Alec is a "good boy" and does absolutely no drugs or alcohol, just focus on his work. I on the other hand, have experience Alec chugging down three litres of alcohol and not throw up. He's a party animal when he wants to be.

"Are you even listening to me?"

I looked over at my mom, who had her arms crossed, "Yes?"

She shook her head with disappointment. "We'll be leaving now. No fires, hooks up or alcohol okay?"

"Don't worry mom, no alcohol substance will be there," I lied

A few minutes later Leah came inside my room, grinning from ear to ear. "I can't wait for tonight!!" She beamed and then sat down on the corner of my bed.

I chuckled, "Me neither, so is your mystery boyfriend there?" I teasingly asked her, while wiggling my eyebrows.

Her cheeks turned red. She grabbed a piece of her hair and started twirling it. "Yes.." She mumbled.

Leah's been dating this boy for over 6 months and won't tell me the guy! She always use the excuses: "You'll hate me for it!" Or "We haven't told anyone. We're not ready,"

She ditch me countless of times to be with this mystery guy and I haven't met him yet. I don't know his name, or what he looks like and I'm suppose to give the best friend approval? No thanks!

I look at myself in the mirror, "Well I'll be seeing him today when I find you guys together,"

She rolled her eyes but fidget a bit. "Fine but enough about me, have you talked to Andrew since the Gala,"

I nodded my head, "Yeah, I just haven't talked to him about the kiss.." I muttered the last part hoping Leah will leave it alone

"YOU GUYS KISSED?!" Leah yelled from her spot.

I made a hushing sound towards Leah, "Oh hush you! If my mom hears you we're all in trouble!"

If mom ever found out I kissed Andrew Carter? My enemy since the age of eight?

Well I'm not sure if he is really my enemy any more. We been getting along, sharing a few kisses...

My phone made a dinging sound.

I grabbed my phone off the charger and notice that Andrew texted me,

A smiled formed on my lips. "Party started, let's go."

Both of us went down stairs and slipped on our shoes. While we were putting on our shoes we heard a loud base. "Woah, I wonder how your neighbours feel." Leah spoke

"Mom and Aunt Andrea inform them that we were throwing a party with really high base speakers. I wouldn't be surprise they left the town for the night." I commented while locking my door.

We walked across the street and the closer we were the louder the music would be.

"We're about to par-tayy!" Leah sang while dancing around on the street.

I rolled my eyes and opened the door. Everyone was dancing, drinking, making out in corners.

I met eyes with Andrew across the room. His eyes lit up and he came walking through the crowded area to meet me.

"Leah he's coming our way!" I started to panic.

We haven't talked about the other night. I have been avoiding him and He must of started to catch on.

Or he was to busy planning my party.

It was to late now to back out since his arms are wrapped around me. "The birthday girl arrived!" He cheered.

Everyone brought their attention to Andrew and screamed, "Happy birthday Alex!"

I plastered a smile on my face and mumbled a "Thank you," then everyone went back to partying.

Andrew bent down and whispered in my ear, "You look tense. What something to drink?"

I nodded my head. He took my hand and led me inside the kitchen.

"Where's Alec?"

Just right after I mentioned his name, I was brought into a tight, non-breathable hug. "Happy Birthday Alio!" He slurred out.

He was already drunk. I could smell the alcohol coming from his mouth. "Thank you Al, now put me down." Alec dropped me on my feet and I took a few steps back. "Where's Savannah?" I asked while looking around.

He shrugged his shoulders and left both Andrew and I in the kitchen. "Something tells me Savannah isn't going to be sticking around for long," Andrew muttered.

I glance over at Andrew and he was holding two red cups in his hands, each both had different color substance inside, I raised my eyebrow in caution, "I didn't put any alcohol in it, relax." He said. He handed over my drink and he gulp his drink in one sitting. I continue to watch him while he pulled the cup away from his lips, he glance over at me, "It's sprite Alex, I wouldn't do that to you on your birthday."

I took a small sip from my cup and relaxed; it was indeed Sprite and I was just over reacting. "I wouldn't have spiked your drink, You at least want to remember this day don't you?" He told me

I put my cup down on the counter and nodded my head, "Yeah, I am just being paranoid that's all,"

He scrunched his eyebrows in confusion, "About what?"

Tonight wasn't the night to talk about it. He must of already had at least three cups or more of alcohol in his system. I'll much rather have this conversation with him when he is at least 100%. sober. "Can we talk later? I at least want to seem like I am enjoying my party," I paused and then smiled, "Thank you by the way."

"What for?" He asked but knew what I was talking about, "All I did was ask mom and dad if I could throw your party here, Leah helped me organize it, then Alec told them he was going to be supervising; which meant he is going to get piss a*s drunk," Andrew explained.

I slip out a giggle. "Well either way thank you,"

He shrug his shoulders like it was nothing but had a smile of appreciation on his face, "No problem Alex,"

I excuse myself and went to go find Leah. I know Leah's secret boy was going to be here and she did agree on allowing me to see him, why can't I find them now? I started searching the dance floor. Which was the large living room but Aunt Andrea and Uncle Anthony vases and couches were wrapped and pushed to the side or hidden in closets. Only plastic chairs were out and lined against the wall.

Back when Alec use to go to high school, he use to throw the biggest parties whenever our parents were out of town. He knew exactly how to measure the times of; Setting up, cleaning up and making the place look precisely the way Aunt Andrea put it. She would come home and expect the house to be a mess but then she'll find Alec sitting at the kitchen table with his two best friends having a "study day".

I sometimes believe both Andrew and I get our master minds from Alec. He is really like an older brother to me, who I shouldn't be looking up to at times.

"Alex,"

I snapped out of my thoughts and realize I was sitting in one of the chairs in the living room. I gaze my eyes over to the person next to me who called my name.

It was Eric. He was dressed in a black dress shirt that was unbutton, had a white T-shirt underneath, dark wash jeans and black vans. "Hey," I released out.

He smirked, he caught on that I was checking him out. "Why aren't you dancing or laughing or you know, having fun?" He asked

I wanted to ask myself the same thing. "I'm just tired," I lied

"How can you be tired when you haven't done anything at all? You just got here and you're already tired? That's not the Alex I know."

I shrugged my shoulders, "Truthfully, I haven't been getting any sleep."

Which was the completely honest . Ever since the night from the Gala and the kiss both Andrew and I shared, I haven't been sleeping. But the one night I want to get some sleep I recieved an email from University of Pennsylvania and also University of California. my nights have been considering the pro's and con's of me going to either one.

Then the other night I thought about the wedding and if I'll be able to go any of these universities.

"Earth to Alex!"

I closed my eyes and shook my head, "Sorry, my thoughts have been everywhere,"

He nodded his head, "I figured."

We sat their in silence, watching the other people dance, it made me want to dance also. I turned to Eric, "Wanna dance?"

He looked over at me for a moment. After a while he nodded his head and stood up, "Let's go!"

He took a hold of my hand and led me to the dance floor. He brought me on to the center of the dance floor and we started dancing to Locked Away by Adam Levine.

I wrapped my arms around his neck, while he rested his hands on my waist.

We were dancing to each beat, whispering jokes inside each other's ear.

I missed doing this with Eric. Having fun, not fighting. I liked it.

We never had the opportunity to just have fun and be ourselves before. It was always drama, lots and lots of drama.

I looked into his eyes and it flashes guilt. "What's wrong?"

He stopped dancing and dropped his hands from my waist. "I can't do this Alex, I'm sorry!" He turned around and started to leave.

I grabbed his arm and use all my strength to bring him back towards me. "What is your problem? We were just having fun laughing, dancing and now you're leaving? Is this what you want us to be like? You just come around, have fun then go? I want to know what happened between us." I let go of his arm, he stood there for a moment and staring at my face. "I just want to know. I deserve an explanation."

He looked down at his shoes, his chest rise from inhaling and then relaxed after exhaling. "Alex theirs something I need to tell you.. I'm--"

Just then The music turned off and the lights turned on. "Attention everyone!" Andrew stood up on the stage they made and had a mic in his hand.

I felt my stomach churn. I have a bad feeling about this...

"I would like to say thank you to everyone who came," he slurred some of his words, he's drunk..

People mumbled a thank you or just stood silent. "We should also say happy birthday to Alex's! Where is she?!" He yelled out looking through the crowed.

One guy besides me pointed at me and shouted, "She's over here with Truman!"

Andrews expression change to anger. Yeah this can't be good.

He brought the cord in between his fingers and started walking on the stage. "You know, I have a secret for you everyone.."

"Oh no.."

I glance over at Eric and notice his face was turning pale.

What did Andrew know about Eric?

"Remember that time when we all gotta show from Eric Truman and who ever her name is!"

Everyone cheered and yelled out a few "Yeah!"

What was Andrew doing?! It's my birthday and he's bringing this up?

Andrew smiled evilly, "Well I have to tell you that he kissed her because he's gay!"

Everyone gasp in shock and some in horror. "All these girls he's using its not because he was a player! He was gay!" Andrew yelled out while pointing at Eric.

"A faggot!" Andrew declared while pointing at Eric.

Everyone began to laugh, giving Eric looks with disgust and shame. Even some guys from the football team were chanting "Faggot"

I was angry. No! Furious at the moment. I didn't know what to do.

I glanced over at Eric and saw that he had tears in his eyes, he looked over at me with guilt and sadness. "I'm so sorry Alexandra." He whispered Then started running out the door.

I automatically followed him outside. Eric quickly sat down in his car and start the engine. "Eric wait!" I cried out.

I kicked off my heels and tried to run as fast as I could to Eric's car. "Please wait!"

He didn't listen, he turned his car around and drove down the road.

I felt a tear roll down my cheek. How could Andrew do this...

Leah came running outside with Andre. "Alex what's wrong!"

I given Leah and Andre a closer look and seen that I haven't seen either of them all night. Andre wasn't with Andrew not once tonight while Leah was MIA. I looked closely and saw that Leah had two hickey's forming on her neck. Thats when I realize my best friend ditched me on my birthday to go make out with her 'mystery guy', who was Andre.

"Why do you care!" I yelled, I furiously wiped my cheek from all the tears that has been flowing, "While you guys were lip locking I been getting humiliated and having to see someone be looked down upon for who he is!"

Andrew came out smiling and laughing with football players who were also drunk. "And you!" I pointed directly at Andrew. "Are a jerk! a big fat jerk!"

Andrew crossed his arms, "I did this to protect you Alex. All he did was ever hurt you. I saw what was happening he was going to leave you again!" Andrew defend himself.

"He was afriad!" I cried out, "He was afraid of being judge for who he is and hid himself from us. All of us." Everyone at the party quiet down and tuned into our argument. "But you.." I slipped out a laugh of disappointment "You knew his secret."

Andrew was about to open his mouth but I raised my hand, "Save it! You already done enough damage,"

I picked up my shoes and started walking across the street. "Alexandra what is your problem!" Andrew shouted.

"My problem? You expose Eric sexuality because what? You were jealous that he would take me back?!" I spat out.

Andrew expression showed that my words had hit home, he needed to know what he did was wrong. No man or women should ever have to admit their sexuality to the world or have someone tell the world for them. Especially being looked down upon is down right awful. You have the choice of who is allowed to know who you are.

I wiped one side of my cheek and sniffled, "You're the devil Andrew, the f*cking devil," Then I stormed inside my house. I locked all the doors and ran up the stairs inside my room.

I wiped off the excess make up that was left after my large amount of crying, change into fresh pair of pajamas's and laid down in my bed.

This is not how I wanted to spend my birthday. In my bed crying over how hamuliatied I was, how I felt guilty for treating Eric all these years. He didn't deserve my hatred, he had a reason to leave me alone.

No wonder he moved so far away, he wanted to get far from that Devil.

I blew my nose and shut off the light. Before going to bed I picked up my phone and sent Eric a quick message;

I still haven't gotten a reply. I wouldn't blame him. He must of thought I hate him even more. I snuggled more into my blanket and closed my eyes. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
