《Arranged Marriage to The Devil》Chapter 24: Cake Tasting

We are in the month of March and you know what that means; NBA March Madness.

And also Alex's Birthday of course.

"It's okay man, planning Alex's surprise party is a great idea! She'll love it." Andre tried to cheer me up.

Okay, now you guys are wondering why I'm planning Alex's Birthday party?

Well Aunt Lauren thinks it is a great idea for me to invite the whole school to her party and not tell her about it. Which we all know Alex hates surprises.

"I don't know Andre, she hates surprises." I mumbled

He hit my arm lightly, "Chill! You're so worried. She'll be fine,"

Ever since we became closer I feel different around her, like I never did before.

I wonder if I have feelings for her.

"You do,"

Glancing over at Andre I said, "Wait what do you mean?"

"You just told me that you have been acting strange around her and you think you like her. I'm just saying you do." Andre explained.

I shook my head, I thought I said that in my thoughts? "Well, I know that I don't like her," I said

He sighed, "Think of it this way, the more you deny the more feelings will grow. So truly mean what you say." Then he walked away from his locker

Don't you hate when your friends are right?

I know I do.

Small hands touched my arm. I turned around to see Alex standing there, "Sorry if I was bothering you," she said softly

I shook my head, "No it's fine, what's up?"

"Mom wanted to go cake testing today and I don't think Your mom told you by the face you're giving me," she chuckled

The only thing I like about this stupid wedding is that I get to try food and go cake testing. Who can say no to food! "She didn't tell me but hell yeah I am up for it! I can't wait to taste some cake," I cheered while walking out of the school.

"Hold on, mom already given me the address so we can meet her there so--"

I slung arm with her arm, "Then what are we waiting for?! let's go!" I hurried out of the school when Alex stopped me

"You have to drive your car to my house," she told me while trying to hold on her laugh

"Ah nope," I said while popping the 'p' "I drove with Andre this morning, remember my car is in the garage?"

"Right" she said to herself.

I sat down in her car and waited excitedly for Alex to get in. "Why are you so excited?? It's just cake,"

I glanced over at Alex, "Just cake? I hope you know that cakes are my favourite desserts," I told her.

She smiled, "I know, that's all you eat! I'm surprise you're not fat," she remarked.

Putting my hands to my chest I gasp, "How could you treat a friend like that!! calling them fat. how rude,"

"Hey! I didn't call you fat, I'm just surprise you're not." she said then let out a small giggle.

My stomach turned, I must be hungry, "Where is this bakery?" I asked

"Well," she took out her phone and then looked up, "Keep on going straight then make a left turn and it's right there,"

I listened to Alex and kept on going straight up ahead and then took a left hand turn. Once we turned, I saw a signed that said, "Ashley's Bakery"

"We're getting our cake from THE Ashley's Bakery?!"

Alex unbuckled her seat belt, "It seems that you are fairly familiar with her cakes and pastries,"

I unbuckled my seat belt and got out of the car, "Uh yeah! Mom gets her cakes from here, when we host dad's cocktail parties."

"Wait hold up," Alex slammed her door and followed me inside, "Are you telling me that Aunt Andrea doesn't bake her own chocolate cake but gets them from her?!," Alex stated while pointing at the bakery.

I chuckled lightly, "Yes.. didn't you know that??"

"No!! I wouldn't be freaking out over the fact that my aunts creations is a big fat lie," she said dissapointedly

We walked inside the bakery and the smell of vanilla and cinnamon came right to my nostrils. I walked over to the cupcake display, "Look at these beauties, I just want to devour them all."

She grabbed on to my arm, "You'll be tasting them soon enough,"

I felt a spark when Alex grabbed my arm. I think she felt it to because she let go in a spilt second.

We reached the back of the bakery and saw; mom, dad, aunt Lauren, Uncle Carl, and Ashley was chatting about the wedding.

"Oh they are the bride and groom, or should I say Mr and Mrs. Carter?" Ashley beamed

"Actually we're--"

Alex interrupted me. "Thank you so much for baking our cake, I didn't know that Aunt Andrea was one of your customers,"

Both mom and I looked over at Alex in shocked, what in the world is she doing?! we're not suppose to like this decision.

"Alex you're to kind, but I always been there for Andrea. From family parties to Cocktail parties,"

So my 12th birthday cake wasn't made by mom...

I don't know how I should take this,

But enough about the cake sistuation, I wonder why Alex didn't correct her. Well I guess it's time for a little game.

I wrapped my arm around her waist and smiled, "Well I couldn't be any happier that my mother chose you to make our wedding cake, my fiancé right here wouldn't have survived without finding the best bakery around,"

Alex gave me a stern look. Boy, I haven't seen that in a while...

Ashley clapped her hands together, "Okay! Now let's try my four famous cakes, here at Ashley's Bakery."

Everyone started walking over to the first cake station when I was stopped by Alex. "What was that!? We don't like each other that way,"

"Hey don't start, you didn't corrected her at all. You usually do that,"

Aunt Lauren came over with a stern look, "Okay, I'll pay you guys both each five hundred dollars to act like the most lively couple. Got it?" Before we could debate she went back towards the adults and started trying cake.

Alex lips started forming a smirk, "Let's make a bet,"

I ran my fingers through my hair, "Since I don't have any way out of this, sure."

From that moment, a bad feeling settled in my stomach, should I back out of a Alex Thomason bet?

"Who ever can play the better 'partner' wins! how does that sound?"

She must be out of her mind,

Before I could back out of this, she walked closer to the point where we were inches apart. She gotten on her tippy toes and whispered in my ear, "Or are you going to back out?"

I grabbed on to her waist and turned her around towards the adults. "Who ever wins get both five hundred dollars from Aunt Lauren," I whispered in her ear.

I felt her shivered, "Deal,"

She interwined our fingers together and we walked over to the first cake testing stations.

Ashley's eyes lot up, "Great you guys are ready! okay so the first one is a Red velvet with a light whipped cream cheese frosting, great for any of your guest who might have peanut allergies...."

I couldn't concentrate properly because Alex was running circular motion on my hand, is this suppose to drive me crazy?

Well it worked,

She let go of my hand and picked up a small plate of red velvet cupcake. "Oh baby try this," She slowly cut through the red velvet cupcake and brought it up to my mouth.

Of course everyone was watching so I had to play along and opened my mouth. She put the deliouse cupcake in my mouth and I let out a quiet moan, "That's amazing Ashley,"

Ashley gave me a friendly smile, "Thank you, now over here is an Cookies and creme cake,"

"I didn't know cake can make you moan," Alex said sounding quite amused.

I bend down to her ear, "A lot of things can make me moan,"

She punched me in the arm. Her cheeks turned a tinted red, "This is not a turning on game,"

"Who said it was?" I whispered in her ear and then joined the adults. While leaving Alex speechless behind me.

"You're so getting it," she muttered towards me

I picked up a plate of the Cookies and Creme cake. I chuckled, "You can't beat me at my own game,"

"We'll see about that,"

I pieced out a piece of cake on to a fork and fed it to Alex, "Taste good babe?"

She nodded her head, "Yeah! I love the fact that the icing is thick and creamy,"

I put my arms around her and brought her closer toward me, "Just the way you like it,"

If her cheeks could go another shade of red, it did.

Ashley brought us over to the Vanilla bean cake, "I have to say this one is my favourite,"

Alex and I both tried it and we moaned quietly, "Can we take this cake to go?" I asked

Ashley laughed, "sure, you can take the other cakes and decide another day,"

My eyes widen, "Then what are we waiting for let's pack them up,"

I felt small hands stop me, "Andrew, wait. You're in such a rush,"

I glanced down at Alex and I couldn't stop staring into her eyes. It's like they were trying to tell me something.

She was starting to lean in closer. I was starting to close in the gap, when she moved past my lips and whispered into my ear, "I think I'm winning this one," and walked over to her mom.

From that point I realize something.... something that'll change everything.

I'm in love with Alexandra.
