《Incongruous》Chapter 8

After a few minutes, I still haven't changed and it's agitating me. COME ON, COME ON, COME ON. I tried picturing my wolf form; blue eyes in the shade of the sky in the afternoon that glow when light hits them, a coat so black that allows me to camouflage with the darkness, fur so soft and silky that you would think that I brush it all the time (in reality I barely brush it.)
And it still didn't work. I'm still stuck in my human form that can barely balance itself with all of these wounds I have that are barely healing itself. I'm starting to feel woozy too so I sit down and wince in pain but I still cross my legs and began to think through the pain my body is feeling right now. Okay, if it doesn't work with imagining my wolf form this time, what about imagining my girls and that disgraceful good looking monster of a mate I have. I feel a pinch of hurt in my heart thinking about him. I get in my previous position and imagine them. Selene and Iris's smiles and laughter. Pepita's kisses and tail wagging when she follows me around and protects the girls when needed, too. That mate of mine with his harsh replies and actions that even though he hurts me with his ways, he still has a place in my heart right next to my girls.
After picturing them in my mind, I sensed the change in me, my senses became sharper, I can hear noises from a mile away, and I can smell the deer from a mile away. I open my eyes and my sight has become shaper as well. I looked down, seeing my coal colored paws and feeling relief that I was successful in my transition of human to wolf. I thought something was wrong with me since that's never happened before.
I sensed movement from behind me and immediately turned around and growled at the culprit.
"Calm down little one, it's me Elijah," the big gray and white colored fluffy wolf mind-linked to me in amusement, in a tone I never heard him speak in and in a deeper voice than before. I guess he does have any other emotion other than anger. Standing behind me, he began to examine my form and walk around me in a circle. His eyes got darker when he spotted the deeper wounds that had not healed all the way, yet. As long as they stopped bleeding because I was beginning to feel dizzy.

Wait, did he just call me little one? "Little one, who caused these on your body?"
He did call me that. " I've had worse ones before and why do you call me little one? Are we best friends now?" I claim excitedly, my eyes lighting up and my tail wagging. He chuckles and nods his big wolf head. "You still haven't answered my question little one? Who gave you those wounds?" He mutters with an impatient tone in his voice, coming closer to have a better look at the wounds.
I look away and ask a question with an emotionless tone while not looking his way. "Is it that bad to be mated to a female to you guys? Is it so wrong that you'll still cause pain to your female that you have a bond with? Is something wrong to be mated to someone like me?"
I felt a tear slip out while thinking about the pain I felt when my mate was intimate with someone other than me. I felt him stiffen upon hearing what I was saying and the tone I was talking in. He knows. He was probably sent by Oliver because he's the only one that knows why I did this to myself. I look at him in the eyes as I tell him.
"I couldn't take the pain of my mate sleeping with someone else so I had to distract myself with physical pain to draw my attention to this kind of pain and not the one I was feeling in my heart and abdomen," I claim while letting another tear to slip and harshly wiping it, not wanting anyone to see me vulnerable.
He stayed quiet and looked right back at me. His eyes have sadness and anger in them, a combination I thought I'll never see in his eyes. A determined look appears in his face, and he comes even closer. He begins licking me around but mostly on my open wounds shocking me.
"W-what are you doing?"
"I'm helping you make some progress with your mate."
"How is this going to help?"
"You'll see," Elijah states while he continues on licking my wounds. I guess it's true that the saliva of a wolf can help speed up the recovery of one another but the saliva of the mate is more powerful, I relax and let him do what he wants since he wouldn't even let me back away from him when I questioned him. After he's done, I shook my body around dusting off any unwanted leaves or dirt off me even if my wounds still hurt but the pain is bearable; off I go, escaping away from him and beginning to adventure around the woods. I pick up his scent signaling me that he's close by so I begin to pick up my pace and let him chase after me. He knows what I'm up to so he nips my tail playfully making me yelp and runs ahead of me, stating that it's game on. I chase him around while trying to nip his tail but he always gets away right before I can bite him. Lucky bastard.

"Hey little one, is that all you got?"
I'm panting with exhaustion and pain my body is feeling from behind him, trying to catch up to him and give him a piece of his own medicine. My ears pick up on what he just said though all of my panting and I snarl playfully at him. He chuckles and shakes his head.
"Keep laughing because your mind is about to be blown away by...... ME! I'll show you, mister, I'm not exhausted, and then I'll like to be taken somewhere I can let off some steam while dancing, for instance, a club if you have any of those in this territory."
"Ok, then show me what you've got pipsqueak and the winner is the first one who's in the water first, " he exclaims, pointing towards the lake with his snout. I nod my head and get ready into position. The lake is a mile away from where we're at.
"On your mark...Get set...GO!" Elijah shouts, commencing to run off to the direction of the lake. He's already ahead of me but I'm not going to waste all of my energy on running off full speed ahead like him. I start off by jogging and looking at my surroundings. After 9 minutes, I looked up ahead, shockingly to see Elijah sleeping on a tree with the lake being 10ft away from where he's at.
I snicker and run full speed as if my life depended on it. Running pass Elijah and startling him awake from his sleep and diving in the lake. I hear a splash the second I land in the water and already knowing who it is.
"I guess I'm the winner, punk, " I exclaim excitedly, swimming in circles around Elijah. He puffs and begins to swim towards the shore.
"Whatever, little one. I know you cheated since I was taking a break because you were still far behind me so I kindly stopped and waited. I guess while waiting for you, I fell asleep. You should've wakened me up when you saw me, " he mutters while pouting since he didn't win like he thought he would. Getting out of the water and beginning to shake his fur and splashing water all around us. After he's done, I do the same.
"Who cares? Now I've been meaning to ask you this, where's Oliver? He came with me but I never saw him again after I shifted, " I question, looking around if I can spot him anywhere around here after I finished splattering the water all around me, trying to dry myself.
"He had to go back and check up on something he forgot to do, but he told me to take care of you and to tell you not to worry since he said you'll be asking because you're his girlfriend."
I hear a gasp from behind me and turn to see who it is.
"What did you do Elijah? Alpha Obsidian is going to kill you?!"
