《Mr Grumpy - DISCONTINUED AND BEING RE-WRITTEN》Chapter 21- Rainbow Smiles
Advertisement
It was May, and I had a month and a half left until the summer break. I couldn't wait. All the tests and waking up early would soon be done. And then I could rest for like 2 months. Ahh I was really excited. I couldn't wait to read, play with Alex, hang with my friends and eat.
It's been a month since I've spoken to Mr Grumpy. It wasn't like I was avoiding him or anything, I just didn't know what to say. Plus he hasn't really been at school, and if he was, he was with Jasper somewhere away from us.
I still didn't tell anyone about the shoot out, Mr Grumpy's threat sill rang through my head.
Tell anyone and I'll kill you.
And I will definitely not be telling anyone, but of course Alex had to know. I mean I told Alex is everything.
Now don't go looking at me like I'm the one that's crazy.
So now Betsy replaced Jasper's seat in the cafeteria. Speaking of Betsy, I found out that she too liked Cam but was afraid of rejection. Silly billies.
Last week Betsy and I went to Mama Jones to discuss something about our photography project and then she spilled the beans. Her face went red when she realised that she had told me about her little crush.
Bethany has returned back to her normal self, thank goodness. This Friday we would be having our traditional sleepover, and I was really excited, last Friday she couldn't come.
It was last period and I had a free one, so I decided to head to the library and read a romance book.
My mouth threatened to release a squeal as I read that the main character's boyfriend had finally proposed to her. Awhh. I nearly giggled but stopped because Ms Davis's eyes kept landing on mine.
I was just about to turn the next page when a shadow landed on my book. I pouted and closed it hoping to read more later.
"Hi Reece." I grinned as I hugged him tightly, he smelt really good actually.
"Hey Annie, reading huh?" He sat down eyeing the book in my small hands.
"Yup," I placed the book carefully back into my bag. "It's a romance book. Really cute actually."
"Cute? No ways. It's all too sappy, and cliche, this is the real world." He chuckles loudly earning a harsh glare from Ms Davis. Reece gives her an apologetic gaze.
"Ms D is creepy. She just stands there in her corner glaring at us all. Like she doesn't even talk, she just glares. " He groans into his palms. After a second he lifted his head up tilting it a bit. "Hey, that reminds me of Adrian."
He had amusement written in his eyes as his lip quirked up a bit. My eyes widened momentarily as I heard Mr Grumpy's name. Immediately thoughts about the mysterious, deadly Mr Grumpy sprang to my head.
"Anna you okay?" He asked concern for me while he tapped his finger against the desk.
"Yeah." I mumbled absently still lost in thoughts.
"I haven't seen Jasper in a while actually, but I mean it is Soccer games soon." He says to himself picking at the edges of the table. I swatted his hands away.
"Yeah, same. What does Beth have now?" My eyes lingered on the clock, we had 30 minutes left of the day.
"Um history I think, same as Cam."
"Oh cool, we still going to Mama Jones?" Hmm a chocolate sprinkled donut would be good, with a strawberry triple chocolate milkshake.

"Yeah, I need to relax. Football is getting intense, Kale is such an ass too. Oops sorry. But seriously he is, he's trying to go for captain position." His eyebrows furrowed, lips pulled into a pout, messy hair, Reece was such a cutie.
"It's okay. But Kale is a bit of the meanie." And it was true. The tall bulky dark head was more than a bit mean, especially to the freshman students. Last week Kale hit a poor Freshie for standing in his way. Poor freshie.
"Let's go now, Betsy, Beth and Cam can come later." Reece throws me a sweet smiling making me giggle.
* * * *
I was back at Elysie Park, and there wasn't a lot of people unlike when it was Green Day, and there was no dogs luckily. I just wanted to relax. Mom and Dad was on a date night to some farm thingy.
I sucked on the lime flavoured lollipop as I watched everything around me, kids sliding down that huge slide which I had yet to use, worried parents as they placed band aids on their children, and cotton candy sticks in the air.
Today was a good day.
"Hi beautiful." I almost chocked on my lollipop when I saw who's voice that belonged to.
Nope, it wasn't a good day.
I had to calm my unstable breaths.
His white blonde hair was jelled back. It suited him. He wore a dark trench coat that hugged his body, like it was made for him. "H-Hi Nox."
I held the lollipop in my hand tightly in front of me as to protect me. His hands were wrapped up in black leather gloves. It wasn't cold, so why would he have gloves on?
"Hmm shy are we?" He sits close to me. I gulped softly trying to move away but he scooted closer and tsked at me. "How you doing beautiful?"
I lowered my eyes to my lap to afraid to look into his eyes. He was just so intimidating. "I-I'm good."
Gosh I was a stuttering fool.
"Now where's Adrian." He looks at the empty space next to me then to the field in front of us.
"He's not here." I mumbled shoving the lollipop into my mouth. I knew that Nox was that Santa guy's son, whose father also happened to be a drug lord apparently. And after that shoot out with those unknown men, I could believe anything.
"Don't be so hostile beautiful," he leaned down towards me, I shuddered as he's eyes were so close to mine, he literally gazed into my soul. "Now tell Adrian, he has a meeting with Nikolai." Again I shuddered but this time at the sound of Nikolai's name. I mean the man basically kidnapped me. Oh the horrors.
"Y-Yes." I stuttered out at him and in return he gave me a sinister chuckle then walked away.
* * * *
I realised that I didn't have Jasper's or Mr Grumpy's phone number and that I was extremely confused and hurt that Mr Grumpy was going to meet up with Nikolai.
So here I was at the place where I had first met him. The abandoned looking warehouse.
I had my phone with me and my beautiful camera. I am actually surprised that the phone lasted a month without having a scratch on it.
"Oh my gosh! Mr Smalley? Hi." I exclaimed waving my hands like a mad lady. The small man had the same stick as last time with a white shirt and orange shorts exposing his skinny legs.

"Heyy there girl, you back for another ride?" He wiggles his stick in the air, he sat against the wall.
"No," I snapped a picture of him and his wiggling stick.
"Oh. And where are those cupcakes?" He eyes my empty hands. I shook my hands under his gaze.
"I don't have any sorry. But I'll bring some next time." I offered him, he nodded eagerly.
"So is there anyone inside?" I looked at the entrance. I tapped my foot as I watched him scribble on the ground with his stick.
"Yeah. That boy is always in there. He doesn't come out till late." He drops the stick and runs a hand through his thinning hair.
"Oh okay. Thanks." I mumbled.
It was the same door that let to that boxing place thingy. I opened the door gently and tried not making any noise like I did last time.
There he was.
He was punching his bag thingy that hung from the ceiling, the bag swung back and forth, he had powerful punches. I winced each time his knuckles cane in contact with the bag.
Ouch.
I literally took a breath then he stopped and turned around so quickly. I didn't even make any sounds, I promise! How was he able to even hear that?
"Mr Grumpy." My voice was all soft and meek. I hadn't really seen him in weeks. He had a little stubble on his face that made him look more dangerous than he usually looked. Well I mean the tattoos and piercings already make you feel intimidated.
"What are you doing here kid? Your car broke down again?" At the sound of his voice my body automatically made a shudder. I couldn't control the way my body acted around him. It was just us two. Alone.
And then to my complete horror, I emitted a massive fart.
Quite Disturbing.
Yup. Thanks Ana.
Nah I'm just joking, I didn't fart. But I felt butterflies in my stomach when he looked at me, talked to me, anything. What the heck is wrong with me?
"Um I just.." I mumbled holding onto my camera strap.
"What?" He furrowed his brows. Awhh cute. He chucked off his boxing gloves and then walked towards me slowly.
His boxing gloves landed on the floor, I watched them as he came near me, I needed to look anywhere but him.
Tell anyone and I'll kill you.
"Hi." I said stupidly, my eyes widened when he came close enough so that I could smell his familiar scent and see that stubble, it really suited him, actually anything suited him. He could literally wear a rubbish bin, and he'd suit it.
He gave me a questioning stare. "Why are you here kid?" I felt so intimidated.
"Hmm N-Nox," At the sound of Santa's son's name, Mr Grumpy's jaw was clenched. It was fascinating actually, how quickly his jaw had ticked. "He wanted me to tell you that you have a meeting with Nikolai."
He nodded at me. He was surprisingly calm until all of a sudden he glared at me. "You met up with pretty boy huh?"
"No," I blurted out trying to ease my nervousness. "We- I mean I was sitting in the park, and then um he just sat down with me and..like you know..told me that."
He really could kill someone with his glare. Speaking about killing...
"The real question is why are you meeting up with the bad people, I thought you were my friend." I said frustratingly moving my hands all over the place.
"Listen here kid." He spat earning a flinch from all the distaste he had for me. "I'm not your friend."
Something unknown crossed in his eyes when he saw tears forming in mine. But then as soon as it came, it left. Quickly. I tried to not let the tears fall down but they did.
I'm pathetic.
His eyes trailed my tears slowly. I could feel my cheeks get hotter. This was embarrassing. He then glared at me before he turned around.

"Honey, can you please pass the purple ones?" Mom pointed to the pretty purple and white flowers.
I passed her the lovely flowers to her. I watched as she grabbed some silver material box. She placed the flowers in the box and added an off white bow on it. She sprinkled some scent thingies.
"Andy, where are those scissors at?" Becca asked mum, as she held her wiggling hands out. Mom laughed at her and gave them to her.
We were catering for some posh event held up in the Dove Hills. Apparently some family was hosting a charity event, with all high people. I was super excited to go, they had emailed me to take the pictures for an article in the local newspaper.
"Is Bethany coming?" I asked her mom, I knew Beth was going to my house after since it was Friday, but was she gonna come to the event?
Becca put down her scissors, "Yeah she went shopping saying that she didn't have enough clothes."
"But she has like so much clothes." I furrowed my brow as I thought of the mountains of clothes she hid in her room, and trust me it was a lot.
"Exactly." Becca rolled her eyes and huffed.
"Sweetheart, you have done a lovely job, why don't you go home and get ready? Your father is still at work." Mom ties another off white bow to a box.
* * * *
When I came home there was a shimmery golden box with a huge white lace bow on my bed.
My eyebrows furrowed in confusion when my eyes had landed on the very pretty box. I cautiously walked closer to the box waving my hands in front of me, almost as if I could detect what it was.
Right on top of the box was a printed card that had my name on it.
I wonder what's inside.
My fingers trembled with curiosity as they touch the smooth box. The box looked elegant. My whole body tingled excitingly, I couldn't wait to see what's inside.
I carefully lifted the lid, and I peeked inside. I gaped when it revealed a soft creamy coloured fabric.
I gently pulled the fabric out and then realised that it was indeed a beautiful dress.
I let out a squeal when I saw myself in the mirror. The dress clung tightly to my top half of my body, then it fanned out graciously leaving a short little trail. There were tiny gems cluttered around the waist line and some more diamonds scattered at the bottom.
It honestly was so beautiful. It was bedazzling. The material felt incredibly soft under my palms, almost as if I was touching cotton candy.
I had my cream flats on so I wouldn't trip, not that you could see my flats anyway. I had loosely curled my hair and then pinned down some of the curls to the back. For my face I just added some raspberry chapstick which made my lips look a bit redder than usual.
I thought I looked beautiful.
When I turned around a sparkly gleam caught my eyes. I walked closer to the box again and gasped as my fingers ran over a very very expensive looking necklace.
The necklace had diamonds encrusted all over the chain. The diamonds were tiny but they were in clusters. It felt too precious in my clammy hands, and it looked more than incredible when it was on my skin.
Whoa, my parents definitely spent a fortune on these.
I gaped once again at my self. I then grabbed my camera and clutch before going downstairs.
Mom texted me to say that Bethany would pick me up, because apparently she and my father would go straight there. I grinned as I saw Bethany.
I wave at her. "Hi Bethany, oh my gosh, I love your dress."
And I did. She had on a midnight blue long trail dress that clung tightly to her curves. It was a sleeveless dress that had a gold shimmery fabric on it over the blue. As she turned around I noticed that there wasn't any back.
"Thanks Si, I love yours. Where did you get it from?" She eyes my dress with a gleam in her eyes. She greedily eyed my dress, and I couldn't blame her. The dress looked like it costed a fortune.
I got in the car carefully because I didn't want to ruin the dress. "Oh it was in my room when I got home, so it must be from either my mom or dad. Probably my mom, because we were talking about dresses recently ."
"Ahh." She nodded her head. She fixed her hair in the mirror and then she started the car.
* * * *
"Would you like one ma'am?" One of the waiters asked me as I took a photo of some couples laughing.
"Oh no, thank you," I eyed the shrimp cocktail, which looked way fancier than usual. "Ehm, do you perhaps know what time this starts?"
His eyes darted down to his wrist as he looked at his watch, "It should start in like 10 more minutes."
"Thanks."
I stared at the people who came piling in. Everyone in this humongous ball room looked spectacular. From their suits to their tight, loose, fluffy dresses, everyone looked spectacular.
The ball room was decorated beautifully. The room was painted a crisp white colour and had beautiful light purple drapes around the walls. There were about 20 tables that seated 6 people per table. Mom's flowers were placed strategically on each table to add more colour to the too perfect white table cloth.
I spotted a huge chocolate fountain that almost looked bigger than me. The room was getting more fuller. Waiters and waitresses were moving up and down fulfilling every guests needs. The women were drinking there champagne or whatever that was in their flute glasses. The men were all discussing loudly about who was the richest one in here.
I still took random photos of everyone, the people who emailed me said to capture people in the moment. So I am.
"Excuse me ladies and gentlemen, can I have your attention please?" A firm and confident voice of a woman was heard loudly through the noise. Everyone quietened down.
I sat down next to suited up to max Ben. He smirked at me as he eyed me all the way from my blushing face to the bottom of my beautiful dress.
"You look amazing Annie." He grinned biting his bottom lip. I shyly mumbled a thank you.
"So do you Ben."
"Don't I always?" Ben winks at me ruffling up his hair. My parents, Becca, the twins and I was sitting at a table.
"Shut up Ben." Bethany smacks his arm.
"You shut up you little bit-"
"Hey!" Becca shout whispered at the both of them, "Both of you shut up before I take away your cars."
That shut them up. The twins both pouted at their mother who gave them each a dirty glare. I stifled a giggle with the back of my hand.
"That's a nice dress Annie." Mom commented as she looked at the dress.
"I know, thank you mom."
She was about to say something until that fancy woman interrupted her.
"My name is Sharron Webster, and as most of you know, my husband and I will be hosting the 2016 Rainbow Smiles charity event. Now this charity was founded in 2005 by one of my close friend Rainbow Yorks, she had a 5 daughter who died from lung cancer. And after the tragic death of Piper, Rainbow dedicated her time and money into this charity to support children who are suffering with lung cancer all over the world. How amazing is that?" A lot of low voice were heard through the loud clapping made by everyone.
Sharron Webster was way more delicate looking than her voice. She had soft looking curly brown hair that reached her shoulders. Her grey eyes watched out us as she held her champagne up to make her toast.
"Everyone, lets make a toast," she raised her thin glass up slightly. I watched as each person raised their glasses, and so I raised my glass of water too. "Let's toast for a change, a better future, and to Rainbow smiles."
We all mimicked her afterwards. I snapped a couple of pretty pics of everything.
"That is honestly amazing, right Annie?" Dad said as he cut into his well cooked steak.
"Yeah, definitely." I sipped my glass of water.
"Apparently William, Sharron and her husband already donated 1.2 million dollars to the charity." Becca wipes her mouth gently.
My dad mouth drops and mom had to shut it for him. "Whoa! 1.2 million? Damn, that's a lot of money."
"Yeah." I gaped at Becca. Wow, Sharron and her husband were so kind. I searched for the woman that we were all speaking about.
I spotted her finally, she was wearing a stunning peach coloured long sleeved dress, that was tight all around her body. She was talking to a bunch of people. She held her head up high as she spoke to them.
And then all of a sudden, I realised three things. One, I was definitely ready for desert. Two, Sharron was absolutely intimidating. And three, the husband of Mrs Webster was most likely Nikolai.
