《Hot and Cold Do Mix (Descendants Fanfic)》A Visit To Arendelle Castle

(Hattie P.O.V)
After everything that happened in the Underworld, Iris gave me a couple of days before I would go with her to the castle. Turns out that we have the same lunchtime so she would sit next to me and we would draw whatever came to our minds and she was an amazing drawer, but she was too awkward to show her drawings to other people except me since I'm too blunt to lie to her. Honestly, if she signed up for art classes, I would be so happy. She was even friends with Maggie so it was nice to know that I could possibly have a friend that isn't Uma, Gil, or Harry. Dad would be proud of me.
Today I was finally heading over to Arendelle castle, I got ready for the trip. I brushed my hair and braided it in a simple braid, the flames haven't started since I got out of the shower not too long ago. I have a bit more control over them at least which to me is a good thing. Once I was done drying, I got dressed. I put on the dress that Iris brought me which I'm thankful for her bringing it, I would've worn a hoodie and skirt with leggings like normal but I'm also trying to impress a Queen of an entire kingdom. And if I wanted to make amends for what my Father has done in the past, then I have to work with each kingdom and try to fix what he had done. The dress really looked nice on me, I didn't feel the need to change out of it like I usually do with dresses. I put on some black leather leggings and my shoes and looked in the mirror and saw a different girl in the mirror, not a runt from the Isle, but rather a ruler of the Underworld gracing her presence in the world.
My dorm room door was knocked on and I opened it and it revealed to be Ethan in a crisp pastel blue suit with a snowflake themed tie which made his whole 'Snow Prince' title show more. "Wow... you look gorgeous Hattie, not that you weren't already gorgeous but... oh gosh I'm awkward." Ethan slurred out of his mouth and I blushed slightly and gave a small yet noticeable smile. I grabbed my messenger bag and made sure I had everything I needed, including the letters. He offered me his arm and I took it, the lessons that the Fates were giving me were paying off it seems, they were training me to be a ruler like my family. He lead me to a sleigh lead by Serah, Sven's child. He helped me get into the sleigh while he sat in the front and then with that we left the school and headed to Arendelle. While the different kingdoms that are aligned with the United States of Auradon are far and spread apart from one another, they developed special roads in order to get to each kingdom. It's similar to the bridge that we traveled on when we left the Isle, as long as you know the kingdom you want to go then you can activate the button and you can travel there.
Ethan noticed that I was 'disinterested' but in reality I was trying to not panic when it came to this. So this boy gently grabbed my pale hand with held my hand, both of us had a blush at that point but neither one of us stopped the hand holding. Holy Hades I sound like a regular girl at this point don't I? Gushing about a boy I've known for almost a month now, Dad would be mad but also proud that I'm allowing others to get close to me. Maggie was a bit jealous that I was getting close to the Arendelle Royal family, they're apparently very closed off from the others except for King Adam and Queen Belle. The sleigh went through the tunnel and I was greeted with a cool breeze, the scenery changed from Auradon to mountains and lots of water. "Welcome to Arendelle Hattie." Ethan told me and I was mesmerized by the whole area, it was definitely a wonderful place to look at.

I looked over at Hattie and she was looking around and admiring the fjord, I smiled softly and focused on guiding Serah to the castle. I really did have a crush on this girl from the Isle, but Mother would never approve, let along Aunt Anna and Uncle Kristoff. Ellie wouldn't allow Hattie to become my girlfriend for as long as she lives. "Ethan, you alright?" Hattie asked me and I saw that my powers were freezing the sleigh, I calmed down and nodded with a fake smile. She rose her perfectly kept eyebrow at me but went back to looking at the fjords. I went back to guiding us to the castle grounds and there I could see Iris waving towards us with Ellie, Aaron, Krystal, Aunt Anna, Uncle Kristoff, and Mother. I waved back and Hattie saw who I was waving at and she took a deep breathe, I figured that she wasn't one for large gatherings but if she's to become the next ruler of the Underworld then she has to be able to handle large gatherings.
We got to the castle ground and Krystal tackled me to the ground and I laughed, she preferred me over her own older brother which angers Aaron at times but he doesn't stop her. Mother had her normal small, yet reassuring smile while Aunt Anna was excited as usual. Ellie had her arms crossed over her chest and I sighed that she was like that, she was glaring at Hattie and I glared at her in return for being rude to someone who did nothing to her. "Mother, Aunt Anna, Uncle Kristoff, this is Hattie, daughter of Hades. Hattie, this is my Mother, Queen Elsa, my Aunt Anna and Uncle Kristoff. My older sister Ellie, and my three cousins. You know Iris, the boy is Aaron and the other girl is Krystal." I introduced everyone and Hattie did a proper curtsey which Mother nodded in response. "It's a pleasure your Highnesses." Hattie said and I chuckled quietly at this, guess she was learning about how to be polite to royals. "Let's go inside, I'm sure everyone's excited for lunch." Mother said bringing the tension that was starting to grow disappear with the mention of food. Iris, Aaron and Krystal were excited like little kids while both Aunt Anna and Uncle Kristoff laughed at them. I offered Hattie my arm but she declined, it made me confused but I don't question it but I also try to ignore the pain in my heart at the same time. We walked into the castle and the familiar smell made me smile at the though of being home even if it's temporary.
Mother took us all on a tour for Hattie's sake to show her the history of the royal family. It was nice to rehear the history of my ancestors, but once we got to the portrait of Grandmother and Grandfather, Mother and Aunt Anna were saddened and Mother cried into Aunt Anna's shoulders. She never got to properly grieve because of what was happening back then. Hattie grabbed her messenger bag and held it tightly against her and she looked at the two sisters. "If I may, I have something for you all." She said and both Mother and Aunt Anna looked at her, as was the rest of us children. "During my time in the Underworld, I started a program where those who died unexpectedly could write letters to their loves ones in the living realm, the realm we're in now." Hattie started and Mother and Aunt Anna were shocked and then as Hattie was about to grab something from her bag, Ellie froze Hattie in her spot causing everyone to look at her. "Ellie, let our guest go." Mother said sternly but Ellie ignored our Mother and walked over to Hattie who was trying to keep her magic under control. "Do not say that, you have no right to say that! You maybe the daughter of Hades, but you're nothing more than an Isle peasant who is trying to use my brother for her own selfish needs!" My sister growled and Hattie looked at my sister's teal eyes and sighed and a tear dropped down her face and I wanted to shout at my sister. "Let me go then, if you think that then I'll leave." She said and I snapped. "You don't have to leave Hattie, Ellie please let her go. She might actually have proof of what she was talking about." I said and Ellie ignored me like she did with Mother, only Father could get her to listen to us.

Ellie was born and immediately once her powers started to grow, people began fearing her magic and so to protect herself, she puts on this front that Dad was able to always get past. But after Dad died, she felt that she had nobody to turn to so she had to handle everything herself, much like Mother was like after Grandmother and Grandfather died. "She's a dangerous being, she's the daughter of the God of Death, we can't believe a word she says." Ellie said and Hattie melted the ice and ran away, not without dropping some envelopes. "Hattie!" I shouted and I glared at my older sister. "She was hesitant on coming here Eleanor, and now I don't know if she will ever trust me completely." I told her and ran after Hattie, not caring about how my family was reacting to this.
(Elsa P.O.V)
I walked over and picked up the letters on the ground and started tearing up as I saw Mother's handwriting. "Anna." I called over and both Anna and Kristoff came over and Anna started tearing up as well. Hattie might've been telling the truth after all. "Mother, you can't be seriously reading these letters, she must've wrote them herself to fool you and Aunt Anna." Ellie said and I looked over at my daughter and wondered why she refuses to let others into her heart, but then again, she's like me in a sense. Having to take on the whole burden then sharing it with others. I opened the letter with mine and Anna's names on it and there were two letters inside the envelope. I took the one addressed to me while Anna took the one with her same on it.
Elsa,
Our sweet snowflake, we're so sorry for the pain we caused you. Me and your Father know that it wasn't your fault for the accident, you wouldn't ever hurt your sister purposely. We're sorry for hiding you from the world because of your powers, we shouldn't have done that at all. In the beginning it was to help you figure out how to control your gift but we made it last longer due to our own fear of how the people might mistake your powers for something evil. We shouldn't have separated you both and cause this rift between you both, and while you both were able to repair you relationship with some bumps along the way. Both of you girls have made us proud, we're grateful that Lady Hattie was able to help us write these letters for you girls. We love you both, and all of our grandchildren.
Signed - Mother and Father
I was in tears, as was Anna. This was the closure we needed for our parents deaths. There were three more letters written for me, Ellie and Ethan but before I could open them, I needed to talk to my daughter. "Eleanor, we need to talk."
(Hattie P.O.V)
I ran all the way to the gardens somehow, this whole trip was a mistake. There was no way I could ever make up for what Dad did to people. "Hattie! Hattie wait!" A voice called out and I saw Ethan was running after me, this boy was different from the boys on the Isle that's for sure, a good different. "I'm sorry for my older sister, I didn't think she would react the way she did." Ethan apologized and I sighed and walked closer to him and he had a small blush which made me smile a bit. "It wasn't something that I had coming towards me." I told him and he grabbed my hand gently and shook his head. "You're wrong, you and the other Villain Kids don't deserve this prejudice because of what your parents did." He said and I chucked and he shyly placed his hand on my cheek and I blushed but didn't move away from his touch. If anyone looked at us from a distance, they would think that we were a couple but we weren't.
I backed away from Ethan and he didn't hide his hurt. "Why did you....?" He asked but stopped and I looked at him. "If people saw us... they would think that we were a couple when we aren't." I told him and he had this look in his eyes that I couldn't describe. "What if we became a couple?" He asked me and I looked at him in disbelief and I think my face was red as a tomato at this point. "I-I don't know... I've never been in a romantic relationship before, I don't know if I would be a good girlfriend." I said and he smiled and placed his hand on my cheek again and I nuzzled into it slightly. "I haven't been in a relationship either, this would be a learning experience for both of us. And I want to go on that journey with you by my side." He said and I was scared, scared that his reputation would be ruined by being with me. "I'm sorry Ethan, I can't let you get hurt because of me." I said and his smile faltered and he was confused so I had to explain. "If people knew that we were in a relationship, your reputation would be destroyed, your family's reputation would be destroyed. I can't do that to you." I explained and he was about to say something but then another voice answered. "What people think shouldn't dictate how you feel." A feminine voice rang and we looked at the entrance and saw Queen Elsa, and immediately I backed away from Ethan and he looked at his Mother with a confused look. "If I had let people dictate my life for everything, then I wouldn't have married Ethan's Father, and both him and his sister wouldn't be born." She explained and Ethan was shocked and I was as well, what was Ethan's Father like. "He was a noblemen in Arendelle, but he had a reputation for being quite a thief when it comes to a women's heart. But he actually changed how he was when he met me, people always commented on the relationship and said that he was only using me to get the crown." She explained and there was heavy nostagia in her voice. "The night he planned on proposing, was the night that we had two of the twelve Princes from the Southern Isle come and the eldest of the two asked for my hand. The councilmen were actually considering his offer and then me and Erikson had a huge fight." She said and Ethan walked over to his Mother, he was a Mama's boy it seems.
"People tried to use our fight to show that he never changed but he proved them wrong, he took me to the gardens, the very same gardens we're in right now. He had a small picnic set up and there he apologized and proposed, I accepted his hand and the council was angry but they realized that he wasn't the same person he was before. If I had let people's words and views dictate anything in my relationship, then I wouldn't have been happy with Ethan's Father." She finished and I was amazed with the story and the two walked over to me. "Thank you Hattie for the letters, I haven't seen the other three but the one that had mine and Anna's name on it, it's something we'll never thank you enough for. And please, don't think about what the world might say, think with your heart." She said and walked away, leaving me and Ethan alone. "She's right, I don't care about what people might say about us. About what they call us, I don't but I know you do. If you don't want to be in a relationship, then I'll respect your wishes." Ethan said and that broke the dam, he was worried and gently he embraced me, careful of my hair which was flaring all over the place. My head rested on his chest and I gripped his jacket.
(Ethan P.O.V)
I held Hattie while she cried and whispered calming words into her ear. "I-I want to... but like I said before, I've never been in a relationship and I don't know if I would be a good girlfriend." She cried and I smiled softly and began humming a song that Mother used to sing to me and Ellie, one that her Mother sang to her and Aunt Anna. As I hummed the tune, her flames cooled down and I was able to pet her soft hair. "And like I said before, I've never been in one either, this would be a learning experience and I wanted to go on it with you." I told her softly and she looked up and while her makeup did run a bit, it wasn't by much. Her light blue eyes glistened even after all the crying she did.
"Will you go on this journey with me?" I asked her one more time, my eyes never leaving hers.
"I..."
