Chapter 8

When they got back to the cabin it was as if Stephanie has completely forgotten about the stalker at the mall.

Rocky went to the new guest room Grandpa made for her and started taking out the clothing items they had bought, laying them out on her nice, clean bed spread.

Stephanie came walking inside quietly and she watches her friend putting everything out neatly.

Rocky felt Stephanie's presence and turns around, giving her a gorgeous, welcoming smile.

"Hey. Do you want me to put this stuff away or do you want to arrange it yourself?" He asks, hoping Stephanie would want some help from him.

"Let's work together." Stephanie answered.

She wanted to be close to Rocky and ever since earlier incident, she felt herself falling head over heals in love with him. She strolls over to the young brunette boy and gazed at all the clothing items.

She turns to Rocky and un expectedly she pecks a sweet kiss on his cheeks, earring a surprised gasp from him in response. He blushed immediately after realizing what just happened.

Rocky smirks and placed his fingers on the place she kissed him as she turns around to start putting her things away.

"Wh-what was t-that for?" Rocky stutters, his heart thumping loudly in his ears.

"For being so kind to me, and getting me new clothes. I feel bad you had to spend some of your savings. I promise I'll pay you back!"

He shook his head and waved his hands. "Nah, it's no problem. I'll save up for another console some other time." He said.

Secretly Rocky has been saving up for a new gems console to get and was almost at the amount he needed but he felt as if Stephanie needed it now more than him, it really didn't bother him all that much.

"Boys, practice time!" Rocky heard his grandpa shout from the kitchen. Rocky sighs at that and wanted to stay longer with Stephanie.

"Uh, I better go now. Do you wanna hang out with me while I practice or do you wanna stay here? I'll be just right outside."

Stephanie contemplated about what Rocky asked her and she got excited about seeing him learn martial arts.

"I'll watch you guys for a little bit."

She answered with a hint of curiosity. Rocky smiled and went up to get ready and put on his green ninja suit.

Rocky knew that grandpa was going to test his and his brothers reflection skills and thought it would be funny to trick his grandpa.

He didn't know what kind of test they would get today and he wonders if Stephanie would be down for it.

"Hey Steph, wanna play a trick on my grandpa?" Stephanie nodded her head excitedly and rocky whispered the plan in her ear and he wanted her to go in his place first because he usually goes before his brothers who are still upstairs getting dressed in the loft.

When Rocky came back downstairs he had brought Colt and Tum Tum with him to help with his little prank. They all wanted to trick their grandpa.

"What's the plan, bro?" Colt asked. He was very interested in Rocky's sudden idea.

The plan was that Colt and Tum Tum would go ahead of Rocky instead.

Rocky asked Stephanie to sneak around the back way of the cabin to surprise grandpa and Rocky would climb up on the roof and at the same time Rocky would jump down and Stephanie would jump out and scare him at the same exact time, with Tum Tum and Colts help of course.

The boys loved the plan and agreed. They also had to tell Mori that Rocky went to the bathroom and told Colt to come out first.

While Colt went through the front door, Rocky and Stephanie snuck out the back way and Rocky went to grab his grappling hook he made during the Knuckle Up summer.

He didn't have time to find a latter.

"Are you sure this is safe to do, Rocky?" Stephanie questions in a concerned tone of voice.

Rocky turns towards his new friend and gave her a warm smile.

"Don't worry I'm a ninja, and I'm good at climbing." He said. The two went outside in the backyard.

Rocky twirled his grappling hook around several times before throwing it up high onto the roof. Stephanie stood behind Rocky and watched, waiting in case he needed a boost.

"Ok as soon as I get up on the roof, go around the other way and then I'll make a bird call as the signal to jump out at grandpa, ok?" Rocky whispered. Stephanie agrees.

"Ok, just be careful on the roof, Rocky." Stephanie said. She didn't know what got into her but right when she said that she jumped up and gave Rocky a quick goodluck kiss on his cheek.

Rocky immediately began to blush hard and he put his fingers to his face again just like before, on the spot where Stephanie planted the kiss. She was quite an affectionate girl, he thought to himself.

It made his heart flutter with butterflies and he quickly turns around to hide his blush.

Rocky tugged on the long rope to make sure it was safely gripped on the side of the house and he turns to give his friend a thumbs up.

Stephanie smiles and watches Rocky climb to the top of the roof to make sure he made it ok before she sprinted off to the other side of the house.

She crouched down in the corner and peeked out to see grandpa was waiting for Rocky with a basket of balloons filled with water.

She put her hands over her mouth in surprise and waited for Rocky's signal.

She continues to glance around the yard of Grandpa's place when suddenly, she spotted a tall, dark figure by the front entrance of the field. Where there is a bridge right in front of the cabin and Rocky's bike is parked with Colt and Tum Tums.

Stephanie didn't know why, but the figure seemed familiar to her and it made her explode with fear and goosebumps.

What was this stranger doing, spying on Grandpa and the boys? Her heart beats fast and she stands to her full height, keeping her eyes focused on the tall shadow at the foot of the entrance.

Just then, Rocky made the signal but Stephanie stayed glued in her spot. She was shaking in fear and didn't know why she couldn't move or why she was acting this way.

For some reason, these terrified feelings were familiar to her as well.

All went quiet and Rocky remained laying on the rooftop of Grandpas cabin.

He was confused as to what happened to Stephanie and why she hasn't come out of her hiding spot.

He wondered if she was alright and decided to try his best to slither to the side of the house to see if he can find her and ask her.

He slipped back down the rooftop, out of grandpas sight and twisted and wiggles his entire body sideways to the other end of the roof.

Carefully he looks over the side and finds Stephanie is frozen solid underneath him and looks as if she is in a trance of some kind.

"Stephanie!" He tried to snap with his fingers at her and tapped lightly on the shingles of the roof.

Stephanie still didn't respond. Rocky inched a little closer and leans almost right over the edge of the roof, to get a little closer.

"Hey, hey Steph!" He said, this time slightly louder. Stephanie was about to look over when suddenly Rocky heard a loud cracking and snapping sounds underneath him.

Shocked, Rocky tries to slide himself back before he got hurt but he lost his balance and ended up falling!!! Some of the roofs contents fell underneath his hands.

"AHHHHHHHH WATCH OUT!" He screams at his friend.

Rocky blacked out but before he did, he felt a pair of arms try to catch him before he hit the hard ground.

A few hours later....

Rocky awoke to find Stephanie and both of his brothers staring at him with hopeful eyes. Tum Tum on the other hand looks as if he was almost in tears.

Rocky's head was pounding and he could feel a few cuts on his head and other parts of his body. He knew he didn't tell because he has seen Stephanie to reach out and grab him.

Rocky tried with all his strength to sit up but all the pain came rushing back to him and he instantly lay back down on the couch, groaning.

"Ugh! Wh-what happened!" Rocky wondered allowed, hoping to find some answers.

Colt and Tum Tum glances over at one another in unison and then looks towards Stephanie. They really didn't have much of an explanation and was hoping that she did.

"I'm so sorry, Rocky! I feel like this is all my fault." Her tears began to fall and she collapsed on the couch, her head on the side of his stomach. She weeped and whines as much as she could. She was trying to annoy Rocky's brothers enough to leave the room, which they soon did.

Once the two youngsters were gone Stephanie calms down and wipes her tears. She took a deep breathe and spoke after a short period of silence.

"It's not your fault at all, Steph! If anything I believe you saved me." Rocky said. He soothes her by gently brushing his fingers through her long hair.

She looks at Rocky and bites her lips, nodding her head.

"I would never let you fall, Rock! But I have to tell you...I saw someone in the entrance to your grandpas cabin." Stephanie explained. The memory came flooding back to her and it made her more frightened. She hoped Rocky would help her find out about her past and protect her from this strange presence.

Rocky gave her a warm, loving smile and reached out to grab her hand. He gently placed it on his sore cheek and the two sat in silence for a few minutes.

"Really? Did you get to see their face?" Rocky asked, even though he knew she probably wasn't able to see the person from that far away. Stephanie shook her head.

"But I think...it might be the same guy, as before. The one at the mall, he seemed to stand like him and there was something familiar about him but I don't know why he would be here."

Rocky thought about what she said and was rather intrigued.

He wasn't able to see this said person at both occasions and wondered if someone was stalking his new friend.

Rocky was not too sore anymore and he sat up on the couch to see if he was better. Colt and Tum Tum came back with a glass of water and mug of hot tea.

"Here bro, we brought you these and some meds to help with your pain." Colt said he set the tray down next to a Rocky.

Rocky took the pills and drinks right away and then sat with Stephanie alone in the quiet for a while.

The two relaxed on the couch. "I can leave if you want to have a rest,, Rocky!" Stephanie said in a worried, soft tone.

Rocky secretly wanted her to stay with him and cuddle on the couch but he didn't want to be too straight forward.

He merely nodded his head but then spoke up.

"You can stay with me for a little while." Rocky said in a low, hopeful voice. Stephanie smiles and with out replying she nodded her head and got comfortable on the other side of the couch with Rocky.
