Chapter 6

The arcade went well and they met up with grandpa at the pizza restraunt across the street an hour later.

Stephanie had tried a few games and won a small prize at the claw game! A little horse stuffed animal and she loved it very much, even though it reminded her of Colt because it was a baby horse.

The five of them ate and then headed back to the cabin. Stephanie was nervously playing with her hands on her lap as they pull into the driveway and Rocky has noticed her sudden nerves.

He put a gentle hand on her shoulder and shook her attention.

"Hey, is everything alright?" Rocky wondered.

Stephanie bites her lips, staring at her bags of clothes from the store they had shopped at previously, avoiding his eye contact.

"I have...something to ask you guys." Stephanie admitted. There was something bugging in the back of her mind that she been wanting to ask the Douglas boys, but she wasn't sure they would allow her to do her request.

"Sure, ask away." Rocky said. The car drove into the side of the cabin and grandpa turns of the wagon, getting out of the vehicle. Colt and Tum Tum got out while Rocky stays behind with Stephanie in the back seat.

All went quiet and the air around them grew thicker and the wind picked up a little more.

Stephanie turns towards Rocky and that was the first time he ever really noticed her features and realized how absolutely beautiful she really was.

"I'm a little worried, Rocky. What's gonna happen with me now? Am I going to stay with you and your grandpa forever? And I'm wanting to know if I am, would you and your grandpa teach me the art of ninja?" Stephanie said all together.

Rocky was looking at her with a tilted head and squinted his bright blue eyes. His ashy blonde hair blew against his forehead and he thought hard.

Those were questions that had been nagging him all day since he first met Stephanie. He really didn't know what they were gonna do because she did have a home and a family, they just didn't know or remember who they were.

Stephanie doesn't know her actual name or anything about herself! He felt as thought he was supposed to take care of her and protect her as much as he could. Even though he had just met, Rocky had been feeling some kind of connection towards Stephanie.

She was definitely a lot different than his previous girlfriend, Emily.

Rocky stared back intently at Stephanie and sighed.

"Honestly, I don't know, Stephanie! I want you to stay with my grandpa and brothers. I'll take care of you and eventually we will find out about who your family is. As for learning ninjitsu, we can ask my grandpa together and see if he will help teach you when my brothers and I practice." Rocky explained. He wondered why Stephanie wanted to learn karate all of a sudden.

Stephanie smiles warmly and gave Rocky a hug.

"Thank you!" Rocky nodded and they both exit the car, rocky taking Stephanies bags out from the back seat.

....later that day

The rest of the day Stephanie and Rocky grew closer together and Colt and Tum Tum spent a lot of their time either helping grandpa with chores or watching tv.

Rocky would show Stephanie some of Grandpas old fighting weapons and some of the training stuff they would use.

She showed her Colt's ninja stars, Tum Tums nunchucks and his own staff that he made last summer. He had been working on it himself and has yet to use it.

His grandpa had been showing Rocky alone how to make his own staff and weapons before teaching his other brothers, since he was the leader and at the stage where he could learn it.

"Wow, it's amazing!" Stephanie commented. Rocky blushed.

"Thanks! Come on, I'll show you the area where my brothers had to pull my grandpa up a hill while pulling him on a sled, many summers ago!" Rocky said. He grabs stephanies hands and lead her to the winding cliff where it had a long path that went upwards towards a hill.

It was the same path he remembered during the fateful summer when his brothers and him got kidnapped. He didn't really want to remember it and suddenly looks over at Stephanie.

She was staring longingly with fascination all over her face up at the twisting path and talk blowing trees up above her.

She almost seen in a trance with the way the trees danced before her. Rocky didn't know why, but he swore she had gone into another world.

"Hello?! Stephanie!" He waved his hands in front of her. Snapping awake, she shook her head and looks at a puzzled Rocky.

"Huh? Oh, sorry Rocky! What did you say?"

"Are you...ok?"

Rocky was quite concerned by now with the way she was looking up at the hill.

"Yah, I'm fine. Let's continue." She said, turning around.

The two continued walking but the whole time Rocky was showing her things from his past training, he knew she was thinking about what was over that hill.

Rocky couldn't help but think. What was bothering Stephanie about that cliff? Was she remembering something from her past!? He wanted to question her and at the same time he didn't want to scare her off.

When she is ready and remembers something, Rocky is convinced she will share it with him.

At the end of showing her everything around grandpas cabin, he went back to the loft he shared with his brothers and showed her the three ninja masks that his grandpa gave them.

Stephanie was completely blown away and fascinated with the designs and colours of each mask.

"Can you guess which one is mine?"

Rocky asked.

Stephanie thought it over and figured out the answer really quickly. She could tell he likes Green because he wears at least some green everyday, and he had mentioned it to her once before.

She pointed to the green mask and Rocky blushes while shaking his head yes.

She picks up the mask and examines it.

"Pretty cool!" She said. Rocky wanted a bit of alone time to talk with Colt about his strange experience with Stephanie a while ago and asked if he could get her a drink and she could sit and watch some TV with Tum Tum for a bit.

Rocky went to find Colt, who was sitting in the kitchen reading some Batman comics.

Rocky went up to his younger brother and sat down, sighing loudly enough to get the boys attention.

"What's up, bro?" Rocky checked to make sure that Stephanie and Tum Tum we're focused on the tv before he started whispering to Colt.

"Something strange just happened outside with Stephanie and I." I started to explain, my eyes focused on Colt and my heart beated nervously about talking to him about my new friend.

"Oh? What?" Colt seems to be interested and his eyes told me to continue on.

"Well, don't tell anyone I said this, but when I took her outside in the backyard she suddenly stops and looks up at a cliff that was right by, and she was staring strangely at it for a long time. I kind of wondered if she was...remembering something." I whispered the last part and Colt looks at me, a curious expression on his features and he rubbed his chin.

"Really? Did you ask her?" Colt asks. I bite my lips and look over at Stephanie and Tum Tum, they were getting along well and watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles together at this point.

Tum tum was stuffing his face with chips and pretzels.

I finally shake my head no to answer Colts question and he rolls his eyes at me.

"I really didn't know if I should or not. A part of me did and yet I don't want to scare her off." Rocky said.

"We should ask her, together or maybe take her to that place again later and see if it happens again?"

Rocky sighed loudly and brushed his palms through his short brown hair, unsure of what to do at this point. He liked Colt's idea, he just wasn't sure how their response would be and he didn't want to make Stephanie scared or upset.

A few minutes later Grandpa appears and he had his car keys in his hands.

"Ok, kids...is it time for the mall now?" Grandpa grunted a little, he didn't like the mall but he was happy he was just going to drop the kids off and go to some thrift stores by himself in town.

Rocky, and Stephanie agreed. They asked Colt and Tum If they wanted to join them, but the two shook their heads and said they had other plans.

And I kept forgetting to update, lol. I already am very far into writing this story...I'll try to update more frequent!
