《Devil's Rebellious Queen》Chapter 26

I walked into the building with Enzo tagging behind.

The reception was marvelous. It seemed like those 5-star hotel lobbies.

"Good evening, sir," the receptionist, a cute girl, greeted. She had beautiful chocolate brown hair which reached down till her shoulders. Her eyes were piercing green which I found mesmerizing.

Enzo just nodded.

Rude person.

But the girl looked like she was used to this dismissive behavior of him.

"Xena, this is Mirabelle. The receptionist of this building. Mirabelle, this is Xena, my girlfriend," he introduced.

Wait- what?

Girlfriend?

Her eyes widened.

"Oh my god! I've waited, we all have waited, 5 years for this day!" she squealed, running out from the reception, to me.

"Hi! I'm Mirabelle, as boss said earlier, but you can call me Mira," she cheered, taking me in for a bone-crushing hug.

Chuckling, I hugged her back.

"You look so smart," she whispered in awe, scanning my suit.

I smiled in appreciation. "Thank you, Mira."

"Alright, that's enough. The meeting's about to start, come on, now," Enzo ushered grabbing my hand and dragging me to a private elevator. He pressed the button for the 40th floor, the last one.

The entire ride till the 40th floor was silent. The tension between us could be sliced with a knife.

The elevator 'binged', making me sigh in relief, and the door slid open.

We walked out.

There was a long corridor, furnished with white tiles. On the right side, there were two doors: One was a polished, transparent door leading to an office, probably Enzo's. There was also a black oak door with transparent walls with 'Conference Room' written on it. On the left, there was a small kitchen and another black door with 'Lounge' written on it.

I was about to walk to the right towards the conference room, when Enzo stopped me.

"The meeting is not taking place in the conference hall," he said.

I frowned. "Then where?"

"In the lounge."

"Why on Earth would a meeting take place in the lounge?"

"This meeting is informal, that's why."

Oh, okay.

He guided me into the lounge room. The door opened when Enzo placed his thumb on the biometric scanner.

He was about to step in, but then halted.

"Place your thumb on the scanner," he instructed.

I frowned. "Why?"

Not bothering to answer me, he grabbed my right wrist and pressed my thumb on the scanner. A soft 'ting' sound was heard and he let go of my hand.

"I stored your fingerprint in the device. Now, only you and I can unlock this door," he explained, striding into the lounge.

Huffing, I followed him in.

The people were already present and were sitting on the couches.

The lounge room looked amazing. It gave a majestic aerial view of Sicily. There were 4 couches in between which a modern, circular coffee table stood.

The people saw us and stood up to greet both of us.

"Good evening, Enzo, Xena," Ren, the Japanese mafia leader, greeted with a pleasant smile.

I reciprocated the smile.

We were good friends.

"Xena! Didn't expect to see you here," Dylan, the Australian leader, said, pulling me in for a hug.

I hugged him back with a chuckle. "It wasn't planned. I just decided to tag along with Enzo."

One by one, I shook hands with everyone. I had met all of these people before. Some I met them when I went to a meeting with my dad, and others I was friends with.

My eyes stopped when I met the very familiar face of Alejandro, the Spanish leader. His eyes held intense fury and hatred towards me, and I knew very well why.

I punched him when I went to Madrid last year.

Hehe.

He saw me and glared. "You?" he spat harshly.

I smirked. "The one and only."

"What are you doing here?"

"I am not answerable to you," I snapped.

He narrowed his eyes at me.

I sighed. Fighting with him would take ages. Deciding to be the mature one, I spoke up.

"Look, Alejandro. Whatever happened between us, was in the past. I admit, we didn't have the ideal first-meet, but we both were immature idiots. Don't let our past kill our future."

Processing my words, he rolled his eyes but then nodded slowly.

"Fine. Let's start afresh. Nice to meet you, I'm Alejandro Lopez. The leader of the Spanish Mafia."

He extended his arm forward.

I smiled. "Nice to meet you too. I'm Xena King, American mafia princess, and the future queen," I replied, accepting his handshake.

I then sat back down on one of the couches, placing my right foot over my left knee.

"So, let's discuss about the alliance, yeah?" Ren asked, leaning back on his seat.

"Of course," Enzo nodded, sitting on the same couch as me. "So, our 5 mafias; the Italian, Japanese, Australian, Spanish, and the American, have good alliances and relations. Now, we are here to discuss which mafias to include in our alliance."

"The Germans?" Alejandro suggested.

Upon hearing that, Enzo's posture turned rigid. His eyes swirled with a dark storm.

Did he have a rivalry with the Germans like I did?

I instinctively placed my hand on his shoulder. Feeling my touch, Enzo's features softened.

"No," he shook his head, "Not the Germans."

"Alright, how about the Russians, then? Dimitri and Lydia?" I asked.

Everyone nodded, but then Alejandro denied.

"No. Dimitri bombed my warehouse in Madrid," he grumbled, slumping down on the couch.

I frowned. "And when did that take place?"

"Almost 2 years back."

I face-palmed. "I thought we just discussed that letting go of the past is important."

"Yes, I know, but they bombed my warehouse!" Alejandro yelled.

"Yes, because you stole their drugs," I stated calmly.

The most important thing to do in an argument is to never, ever, raise your voice. It makes you seem aggressive, rather than reasonable. That's why, talk with a cool head.

My dad always used to tell me:

Don't raise your voice, improve your argument.

"I-uh-um," he fumbled over his words.

"See? They bombed your warehouse because you stole their drugs. Tit for tat, Alejandro. You were the one who started this rivalry between the Russians. So, it's better, if you just move on. Apologize for stealing their drugs and then, strengthen your relations with them. One thing which is crucial for surviving in the mafia is relations. You have good relations with the others, then they will help you during times of need."

Hearing me, he nodded with a thoughtful expression. "Fine, the Russians are a good choice for the alliance."

"Fantastic," Ren exclaimed, scribbling down something on his notepad.

Enzo scooted closer to me and leaned in. "You're really persuasive, you know?"

I nodded with a dismissive look.

"Now, who else can we include in the alliance?" Enzo grumbled, trying to think hard.

"The Colombians!" I exclaimed, the thought striking me late.

All the men, I repeated, all the men stared at me incredulously.

"Xe, are you crazy?" Dylan asked with a frown.

"Why?" I asked in confusion, "Their mafia is one of the best."

"Yes, but they're ruthless," Ren said and shook his head.

"Exactly what a mafia is supposed to be," I said with a nod.

"No," Enzo denied.

"But why? You guys are saying no without a reasonable explanation!" I exclaimed.

"Why don't you tell us why you want the Colombian mafia to join our alliance, huh?" Alejandro shrugged.

I opened my mouth to reply to that, but a thought struck me.

"Oh...," I trailed off, realization dawning upon me, "You guys are scared of them."

Enzo and Alejandro narrowed their eyes at me.

"Excuse me?" Enzo spat, "Why would we be scared of the Colombians?"

"Because the Colombian leader, Juan Carlos, shot his own cousin because he betrayed the mafia...," I replied, smirking, "That's why you guys are scared. Scared because if Juan didn't hesitate in killing his cousin, he definitely won't hesitate in kill you all."

Everyone remained silent as they knew I was right.

I sighed. "Look, you guys have powerful mafias under your control. And Enzo, you are the leader of the most powerful mafia of the world. Why are you guys scared of Juan? It should be the other way round you know."

"Anyways," I clapped my hands, "The Colombians are the perfect choice for the alliance."

Sighing, Alejandro nodded. "I hate to admit it, but Xena's right. They have excellent arms and weapons which we could use as well."

Enzo bit his lip with a pondering look and finally, nodded.

I never failed in persuading people.

"Alright," Ren muttered, continuing to scribble something in his notepad.

"So, currently the alliance has the Italian, Spanish, American, Australian, Japanese, Russians, and now, the Colombian," Enzo stated, crossing his right leg over his left, "We have to inform the Russian and Colombian leaders."

"Leave that to me," I piped in, "Enzo, give me my phone.

Raising his brow, he slid his hand into his pocket and tossed my phone to me.

I scrolled through my contacts and clicked on 'Russian Dumbass' and held it against my ear

"Hey, Xe!"

"Dimitri!" I smiled.

"Xe, hey! Guess what?" I could hear the excitement in his voice.

"What?"

"I'm coming to Paris tomorrow!"

Oh...

I pursed my lips.

"What's wrong?" he asked in confusion, "We can meet up."

"Uh....I'm not in Paris as of now."

"Oh, okay. Where are you then?"

"Sicily."

Silence.

"WHAT?!"

I frowned. He was always such a drama queen.

"PLEASE DON'T TELL ME HE KIDNAPPED YOU AGAIN!"

I sighed. "No, he didn't kidnap me again. I'm so tired of explaining this to everyone. Enzo saved me."

I noticed Enzo grinning in pride when I said that- like saving my life was his biggest accomplishment.

I heard him sigh as well.

"Okay, before you say anything, I have to tell you something," I began, "You know the alliance? Between the Italian, American, Japanese, Australian, and the Spanish mafias?"

"Ya, what about it?"

"We want to include you as well."

"Oh,...," Dimitri trailed off, "Alright, I'll think about it and get back to you soon."

"Alright, just inform me in sometime, okay?"

"Sure. See ya later."

Saying that, I hung up. I scrolled through my contacts again and clicked on 'Juan' and held it near my ear. It rang for a couple of seconds before I heard the cheerful voice of my friend.

"Xena! My love! It's been sooooo long!"

"Drama queen," I chuckled, "Hey Juan."

"Hello, my lady. What's up?"

"Well...you know the alliance between the mafias? American, Italian, and all?"

"Yep."

"We wanna include you."

"What?" I could hear the disbelief in his voice.

That's because no mafia wanted to be allies with his mafia as they were known to be ruthless, but that definitely wasn't the case.

When I met Juan, he was the most soft, sensitive person I met. He shot his cousin, Miguel, because Miguel as planning to kill Juan to take over the Colombian mafia.

It's a long story.

"Alright...that's great. This is perfect! I can supply arms to you all, and in return, you guys can help train my men."

I smiled. "Of course."

"Good, good. Finally, I have an alliance," he said happily.

Chuckling, I muttered a 'bye' and hung up.

I looked up and saw everyone gazing at me intently.

"What's wrong?" I frowned.

"Nothing," Dylan chuckled, "It's just that you have contacts of every powerful man in your phone."

"Powerful women as well," I corrected.

"Alright, the alliance is done. Only the formalities of the documents and all are left. Now, we need to decide on a good location for our mafias to meet up in," Enzo informed with a sigh.

"Oh, right...," I muttered, nodding.

"We can meet up in Sydney!" Dylan suggest- yelled.

I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, cuz you're the Australian mafia leader who lives in Sydney?"

He gave me a sheepish look. "No, no, not at all. I suggested Sydney because...well, you have the Opera house, Bondi beach, Sydney harbor bridge, and many excellent cruises."

I rolled my eyes. Again. "Dylan, we're not going to Sydney for sight-seeing."

He rolled his eyes as well but nodded.

"We need to choose a place in which we all have warehouses, or houses, in. I thought of 2 places: Paris and Tokyo," I explained.

"Aright. Who wants the meeting to take place in Paris?" Enzo asked.

Dylan, Enzo himself, and I raised our hands.

Ren and Alejandro didn't.

"What's wrong with Paris?" I asked, frowning.

"Well, as you know I have a rough past with the American mafia. Stepping into Paris, the Den of your mafia, would be suicide," Alejandro mumbled.

He was right.

I might have let go of the past, but mom, dad, my uncles and aunts, wouldn't.

They would kill Alejandro right on spot.

Tokyo was the only option that remained.

"Ren, you have a safehouse in Tokyo, don't you?" I asked.

He nodded. "I do. It's one of the safest estates I own. No one would be able to step in, or step out, without me knowing. It'd be perfect for meetings."

"So then it's decided. Tokyo," I concluded with a smile.

The meeting ended, but the party didn't.

We all poured champagnes into our glasses and raised a toast.

"To our alliance!"
