《FALLEN》CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE.

"Are you okay, Maddie?" I questioned, my lips pulled into a frown. She was constantly checking her phone, as if she was awaiting an important phone call from someone. A nervous and guilty expression was playing on her face. It was definitely some suspicious behaviour, alright.

"W-What? Oh yeah, I'm fine. Just checking the weather." She giggled, waving a hand at me. I nodded, pursing my lips as I inwardly questioned her strange behaviour. It seemed as if something was up.

"Well, alright. Anyways, I'm going to finish with this paperwork, you should complete yours, too." I suggested, writing up the last of the unneeded coursework Mr Joan's was after. It was stupid, and totally extra if I were being honest. He had given both Maddie and I, a large stack of psychology questions and such.

I felt as it was a test to see if we really knew what we were doing.

But I didn't really mind.

I was trained for this.

Clearing my throat, I glanced up at Maddie. The slight movement of hers distracted me a little. Her eyes were narrowed as a pained expression played on her face.

"Are you sure you're alright?" I asked once again. She nodded. I raised a brow.

"My uncle said he would call me soon, so I'm just waiting for it. I just hope he hasn't played me. Something he's used to doing in the past." She shared, letting out a sigh. A wave of sympathy tugged at my heart for her.

But before I could say a few words of comfort, the loud blaring of her cell phone ringing, beat me to it. I raised my brows as she smiled shyly.

"That's him." She whispered, standing up and walking outside. Probably for some privacy.

When she stepped outside, I let out a huff of air. Normally, being the caring, observing person I am, I would have questioned Maddie more thoroughly about her strange behaviour. It all started since yesterday. But I was too cooped up in the thought of the fallen man who had managed to steal my heart.

Sam Blake.

He said he had forgiven me, yet still hadn't pitched down the sadness or anger he held from my 'betrayal'. A frown etched onto my lips as I thought back to it. There was this churning feeling occurring to my stomach, as my heart clenched in sadness.

Most importantly of all, I had asked if he loved me too. He discarded my question and made an attempt to leave the room. Without realizing, I felt my eyes prick with frustrated tears.

I just wanted everything to go back to normal.

I didn't want to feel rejection, especially not from him.

A loud sob entered my ears, making me snap out of my cloud of messy thoughts. My brows furrowed as I used a hand to wipe my teary eyes. A bubble of confusion building up inside of me. The sobs grew louder and I hesitantly stood up from my chair, feeling the frown on my lips deepen.

I cautiously made my way over to where the noise was coming from, leading me towards the door. A glint of realization clicked inside me, suddenly knowing it was Maddie behind the sound of sobbing. Still, being my curious self, I turned the door open, only to find a surprised, watery eyed Maddie staring back at me.

"It's whatever. I...I'll call you back, Uncle M." She choked out, clearing her throat as she swiped 'end call'. I narrowed my eyes at her, watching as a quivery smile grew onto her lips. You could easily tell it was forced.

"H-Hey, Belle." Her lips quivered. I frowned, only then realizing how nosy I was being.

"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to interrupt. But I just heard you crying - are you alright?" I questioned, pursing my lips. She sighed, pushing a strand of her hair behind her ear. My eyes briefly glanced at the rainbow tattoo on her wrist.

"It's fine, Belle. And to answer your question...honestly, no." And before I knew it, tears began streaming out her grey eyes. I sadly frowned at her, pulling her back inside the office and closing the door gently behind. I noticed her eyes glance towards it.

"What happened, Maddie?" I softly asked, concern laced onto my words. She huffed, and suddenly threw her arms around me. I stumbled, a little surprised from her sudden actions, but made no moves to push her off. Instead, I lowly sighed and wrapped my arms around her.

Everyone needs a hug sometimes.

"I-I'm sorry, Belle. But I really need someone to hug me right now. G-Grace would have been here, but..." She trailed off, sadly. I shook my head, gently rubbing her back in a comforting manner. Grace was her ex girlfriend. They had recently broken up, because Maddie started working in an all men's prison.

"It's okay, Maddie. I'm here for you, you know?" The words left my lips gently, hoping it would bring her some sense of relief, knowing she could talk to me and trust me with her problems. Her hold on me suddenly tightened.

"Do you want to talk about it?" I heard myself ask. I felt her shake her head.

"I...I just need for you to hold me for a while." She whispered, dangerously close to my ear. Nodding, I pushed my over-thinking thoughts aside and rubbed her back. A few seconds passed by and she still hadn't pulled back. I didn't mind, but the little death-like grip on me was starting to get a little painful.

"Maddie?" I nervously asked, her hands slowly trailing up and down my back. I swallowed, feeling her hand inch to the low of my waist. My eyes went wide in shock.

"Maddie, what are you doing?" I managed to ask.

"I'm so sorry, Belle." And suddenly, she had somehow managed to push me against a wall and using all her strength, held me to it. My eyes were wide in shock and confusion, watching as she suddenly leaned forward, a finger trailing up and down my thigh. I gulped, feeling a disgusting feeling grow in my stomach.

I glanced at her, seeing the tears no longer visible on her face. Instead, a look of seduction and mischief played on her face. The faint smirk growing on her lips, only made the fear inside of me grow.

"You're a pretty little thing, Belle. I'm going to hate myself for doing this, but family comes first." She uttered, biting down on her bottom lip. Her head inched closer to mine, making me cower back against the wall in fear.

"P-Please, move away from me, Maddie. You're really starting to scare me now." I breathed, trying to pull my arms away from her. However, she had managed to put them in a tight grip, both my wrist joined up my head as she used a hand to trap them.

"You're so cute, Belle. But no can do. Not even if you were to get on your knees and beg." She winked, her free hand wasting no time to touch up my thighs. I harshly gulped, her head moving closer and closer towards me. Before I knew it, her lips had managed to push themselves against mine. Forcefully kissing me.

I tried to protest, trying my hardest to shake her off from me. She didn't budge, suddenly pinching my thigh, making me stop from the sudden pain. Her lips grew more fierce on my mine, her hand slowly trailing upwards.

They felt so weird and unitingly, not the way my Sam's lips felt. I felt her grope my breast in her hand. A moan left her lips, making me shudder in disgust. That's when I had enough. I used all my strength, pushing her away from me. I stared at her with a disgusted expression, not hesitating to wipe her saliva from my lips.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?!" I yelled, my breaths picking up suddenly. I couldn't believe she had just done that. A smirk still played on her lips, a hand placed on her hip.

"I'm just having a little fun, Belle." She giggled, making a move to step back onto me. I moved out the way before she could. That's when a frown curled onto her lips.

"You're making me sad. You don't want me sad. You won't like it." She arched a brow, pouting. Ignoring her creepy words, I put a hand out to stop her from taking another step forward.

"Stop, Maddie. I-I respect which way you roll and the way you live your life, b-but trying to forcefully throw yourself at me. I won't accept it. T-This can go down as a sexual assault." I told her, my words shaky. A thoughtful expression danced onto her face.

"Huh, I guess you're right there. But, how about you don't go snitching?" She asked. I shook my head, holding a stern expression.

"Dare try something else and I won't hesitate." I firmly said. That's when a glint waved across her eyes and a smirk tinged at her lips. I cowered back, watching as she strode over to me. She let a finger trail over the rims of my glasses.

"So hot you are." She winked, her finger trailing down my face, leading towards my cleavage, trailing lower and lower, stopping right an inch away from my womanhood. I glared at her.

"Too bad you won't play along. I guess I'll just have to make this quick." A dragged out sigh left her lips. Before I could comprehend her words, she had reached down to fetch something out her knee-high boots. My brows narrowed, suddenly jumping in shock when my eyes met with the sharp, glinting, knife.

That's when an angry expression linked onto her face, yet her lips were pulled into a pout.

"W-What are you doing?" I managed to get out, swallowing a gulp in my throat.

"This is all your fault, Isabelle. You and your little boyfriend fucked with my uncle. Therefore, I'll need to avenge him." A sadistic, psycho like smirk danced onto her face.

"U-Uncle?" I uttered.

"Mark. He used to be a prisoner here, before someone messed with him. I blame your little boyfriend. It's a shame, it is. We could have really tried somethings out if it weren't for him. But, too bad, huh?" She shrugged, glancing at the knife in her hands. I swallowed, a bile rising in my throat.

That sick fuck was still somehow around here.

"So, any last words? We could maybe have a little fun, if you'd like. It would give you a little more time."

I shook my head, feeling tears leave my eyes. I felt helpless.

"Don't do this, Maddie. I-I've never done anything to you, and I'm not planning on. J-Just drop the knife and back away." I pleaded. She shook her head, pouting her pink lips.

"Sorry, no can do. Family comes first." Holding the knife firmly in her hand. I closed my eyes, trying to shield myself away from the harmful object.

"Any who, here we -"

Before she could finish her sentence, the loud sound of the door opening caught my attention. My eyes flew wide as both our heads snapped over to the door. There he stood, the man who had managed to steal my heart. His eyes were narrowed in anger, a look of complete rage playing on his face.

"You better not be playing, Blake." I heard the familiar voice belonging to Daniel. Suddenly both men came into view, standing by the door-frame, a shocked expression growing onto Daniel's face. My eyes darted back to Sam, a relieved smile growing onto my lips, feeling the fear slightly flood away.

"Sam," I breathed, not thinking as I tried to make my way to him. However, suddenly, I felt a tight grip on my forearm. I glared, turning to face the person behind it.

"Oh, you're not going anywhere, sweetie." She grinned, holding the knife an inch away from my neck. I helplessly glanced back at the two man, hoping they'd come to my aid.

"Move the fuck away from her, you little psychotic bitch!" Sam roared, his hands curled into fists. I normally would have paid attention to how hot he looked, but I was too entranced with the fear, I was feeling.

"Step back, Blake. Or I won't hesitate to kill your little Belle." She threatened. He looked as if he wanted her dead that very second. I felt a tear slip from my eyes, wanting to get rid of this feeling of fear. Something I had grown used to being around in this prison.

"Maddie, I need for you to put down your knife and step away from Belle. If not, I will have to taser you." Daniel calmly said, holding the familiar looking black object in his hand, slowly taking a few steps forward.

"Step back! Step back, I tell you! Or I will plunge this damn knife into her!" She yelled, holding the object to the air. I took that as an opportunity to escape her grip. I mustered up all my strength, reaching out to knock the object from her hands. I felt it slightly graze my skin.

"Belle!" Both Sam and Daniel yelled. I ignored the painful feeling and pried Maddie's hands away from me. A gasp of shock left her lips, and I didn't hesitate to slap her face, hoping it would leave a mark.

"You're disgusting! I can't believe I called you my friend! You're nothing but crazy. Get some damn help." I heaved. A look of anger crossed her eyes, but before she could act out on it, Daniel had managed to tug her arms behind her back and guessing by the sound of a 'click', he had put her into handcuffs.

Her eyes went wide with shock and disbelief.

"N-No! L-Let go of me! I need to kill her! A-And then him!" She yelled, definitely catching the attention of other guards. I swallowed, wincing at the cut on my hand. It was a long line going down the palm of my hand. I glared at her, watching as Daniel dragged her out, sending me a sympathetic look before he left, speaking into his walkie talkie.

I glanced at Sam, whose eyes were narrowed, staring at me with a painful expression. I glanced away, tears leaving my eyes.

Oh yeah, I had forgotten he was mad at me.

However, I suddenly felt hands being placed on my face, making me lift my head to look up. Our eyes locked, a saddened, angry bubble dancing in his hazel orbs. I noticed them water slightly, before he embraced me into him. I didn't hesitate to wrap my arms around him, ignoring my bleeding palm for the time-being. I simply clutched onto him.

"You're okay, Belle. You're okay. Fuck, thank God you're safe." I heard him mumble under his breath. I cried into his chest, as he softly rubbed my back. I pulled back, peering up at him with a blurry vision. As if on instinct, he placed a hand to my face.

"H-How did you know?" I asked within tears. He sighed, wiping my eyes using his thumb.

"It's a long story." He muttered. He sighed, shaking his head, peering down at me.

"You're alright, right? Just your hand, we'll fix that. But the rest of you is okay?" He asked in concern. I flashed a weak smile, nodding my head at him.

"I-I'm fine. Still a little shook up." I whispered, truthfully. He frowned, titling his head up.

"I...I thought for a second that I-I was going to...die." I choked out. He let out a low breath, pressing his forehead against mine.

"I wouldn't let you die, Belle. I won't." His raspy voice whispered. Suddenly, he closed his eyes and placed his lips against mine. Making me close my eyes and I found myself smiling into the loving, chaste kiss. His hand locked with my injured hand, while the other softly gripped my hip.

It had been nearly two weeks since I last had the chance to feel his lips against mine. And my God, did I miss it. He pulled back, sadly smiling at me.

"You're not mad at me anymore?" I quietly asked, fearing he would reject. Instead, he shook his head, sighing.

"No, Belle." He mumbled. I smiled in relief, throwing my arms around him. He chuckled, leaning down to press a kiss against the top my head.

"Thank you." I pulled back, leaning up to peck his lips.

"That makes me incredibly happy." I shyly said, blushing a little. He smiled, leaning down to connect his lips with mine once again.

However, the two of us were so lost into feeling and getting used to each others embrace, we forgot about the open door. We forgot that anybody could walk in any second and catch us locking lips. We were simply infatuated by our love.

"Inmate, step away from Belle." The familiar voice called, making me freeze, my eyes going wide.

In that second, I deflated.

My heart dropped.
