《Your POV》

The sunlight made its way into your small home, just in time as you stood in the kitchen cooking up a quick breakfast. Cooking for more than one person was strange. It felt weird to have someone else in the house, but oddly comforting. The feeling was almost familiar.

You quickly finished up, placing the food on the table. You felt proud of yourself that you were able to cook for him, like you were just looking for his approval.

Opening your bedroom door, Scaramouche was still sound asleep. You knew it was weird, but you simply stared at him. He seemed really exhausted. Not only that, but he seemed to always be keeping everything to himself. You knew very well that he still had secrets, but you understood why he had to keep them. Scaramouche was a harbinger after all, there was no way he would be able to tell you every little detail about his job.

Since he had the day off for the most part, you tried to let him sleep in. You wanted him to have the best last day in Mondstadt before he had to leave you.

If you were being completely honest with yourself, you felt extremely saddened at the mere thought of him going off somewhere far away. But you knew involving yourself with him meant that it wouldn't be easy. After all, Fatui harbingers weren't really meant to be in relationships. Who knows what would've happened if the Tsaritsa found out about you two.

It had been a very long time since you'd woken up, you started to grow impatient. Swiftly walking to your bed, you jumped onto it, causing the bed frame to shake.

Still, Scaramouche didn't move. His face really was beautiful. You wondered how someone so innocent looking could be so devious and manipulative. Though, you wanted to believe that he acted differently around you and you alone.

You sat on top of him and leaned down, giving him a soft kiss on the forehead. To your surprise, that's what made him wake up.

"Finally," you glared at him, "It's almost noon. You wasted half the day sleeping."

He slowly sat up, causing you to sit back as well. Scaramouche rubbed his eyes, "Why'd you wake me up?" He really was cranky in the morning, but you thought that was cute.

"It's your last day here. I wanted to spend it with you! And I can't do that if you're unconscious." You answered honestly.

"Eh-" he just looked at you a bit flustered. He didn't know what to say to that. Nobody had ever wanted to spend time with him, "I don't understand you."

All you did was give him a gentle smile as you pulled him out of bed and into the kitchen. You pulled out his chair to sit him down at the table, soon after you took yours across from him.

"I can do it myself you know." Scaramouche was way too tired to raise his voice, so there was little annoyance in his voice.

"I know," you laughed, "I thought it would be funny since you're too tired to stop me."

The two of you sat down for a freshly made meal. Just as you were finishing up, there was an aggressive knock at the door.

Scaramouche started to get up when you stopped him, "I'll get it. You're not supposed to be here, remember?" As you said that, you made your way over to the door where you gently opened it.

And yet again, it was Childe at the door. He just didn't know what to leave you two alone did he?

"Y/N, good to see you again," Childe grinned. As he peered into the house, he could see Scaramouche stuffing food into his mouth as he glared at him. It gave Childe the chills.

You sighed, "What do you want?"

He held up a letter, "I have a letter for Scaramouche."

"I don't want it, go away!" Scaramouche yelled, still at the table.

".. from the Tsaritsa." Childe continued.

Scaramouche groaned, dropping his fork and walking over to the two of you. The Tsaritsa never sent letters to the harbingers unless it was really important.

He rudely snatched it from Childe's hand as he opened it. As Scaramouche started to read through it, he placed his hand over his mouth, his eyes widening significantly. You could feel a sense of anger, but also sadness from him.

"Scaramouche..?" You placed your hand on his shoulder, a bit worried.

"She knows," he said, lowering the slightly crumbled piece of paper.

You looked at him, "Who knows what?" You said, genuinely confused.

Scaramouche sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose as if he felt a headache coming on, "The Tsaritsa knows about you."

In all honesty, you were scared, not for you, but for him. The Fatui were very strict, they'd probably say it was all Scaramouche's fault for even letting it happen.

Childe shrugged his shoulders, "Hm, what a shame. I was beginning to like Y/N."

Scaramouche angrily slammed the door on Childe, which caught your attention.

You nervously looked at him, "I-Is it that bad if she knows..?"

"This happened once before with a different harbinger," Scaramouche started, "The Tsaritsa fired the harbinger, and had their lover executed."

You were shocked. Apparently you did have to be worried for yourself. Was he scared to lose his job, or scared to lose you? You couldn't really tell.

"What.. what are we going to do?"

Scaramouche set the letter down and leaned against the couch, it looked as though his headache was growing larger, "Breaking such an enforced rule is treason of the highest degree. I should've been more careful."

"It's not your fault-"

"Yes it is," Scaramouche cut you off, anger in his voice, "It's my fault you'll be dead, it's my fault I'll lose my job, or worse, she'll kill me too." He grabbed your shoulders, "You don't understand how ruthless the Tsaritsa is. She might seem all high and mighty, but she shows no remorse whatsoever."

All you could do was avert your eyes. You honestly didn't know what to say. Because of you, Scaramouche could lose the job that he worked so hard to get. Because of you, he will be in so much pain. You believed all of it was your fault, and yours alone.

You glanced down, "What will you do?"

Scaramouche sighed, "I'm not sure."

There was another knock at the door. You reluctantly opened it to reveal Childe, again.

"If I may-" he started.

Just as you tried slamming the door, he stopped you.

Childe stood in the doorway, "Hey I'm trying to help you here!"

Scaramouche just glared at him. He didn't even need to speak for him to raise fear in others.

Childe shivered, "I couldn't help but over here your dilemma. So, I will humbly present you with my gracious ideas!"

The two of you just glared at him. Childe cleared his throat, "Tough crowd, eh?" He walked in and closed the door behind him this time, "Now this might sound ridiculous, but what if you lied about Y/N? Say they're a prisoner, or a spy that's been interfering with Fatui relations as of late. Because of their power, you, the 6th harbinger, took it upon yourself to personally guard them in an attempt to stop their shenanigans."

"That-" Scaramouche was puzzled, "That's actually not an idiotic idea for once."

Childe grinned, "And I'll be your accomplice!"

You chipped in, "Why are you helping us?" It's true, Childe has helped you two in more ways than one. It confused you as to why he was doing what he did.

"Good question," Childe gently smiled underneath his hand, "Maybe I just want to see something good coming out of this." To you, he almost looked sad, but he was trying his best to hide it.

Scaramouche then got up and walked over to your desk. He looked like he was writing, so you assumed it was the letter he would send to the Tsaritsa.

As he was doing so, Childe came up to you, his eyes fixed on Scaramouche, "I've never seen him like this before." You looked up at him, "So determined.. and for someone else's sake." He turned to look at you, "You really did change him. Whether you think he's still faking it or not, just know that you've changed his whole outlook on life. You gave him something to fight for."

You couldn't respond to that. What were you supposed to say? Deep down, you hoped that's what Scaramouche really felt. You wanted to ask him yourself but you couldn't. You'd be way too scared.

Scaramouche quickly yet carefully finished writing the letter. He sealed it then walked over to Childe, putting it in his hands, "Get this to the Tsaritsa."

"You know.. she might want you to bring Y/N to Snezhnaya. Y'know, for proof." Childe said, causing Scaramouche to really think.

He sighed, "Then so be it." Scaramouche turned to you, "Guess you'll be coming to Snezhnaya with me."
