《Debut or Die [fan translation]》Chapter 65

It was common for a group that debuts through a survival program to film a reality show. It was because they can make use of the popularity of the audition program and the personalities of the members seen in the show.
'...Still, I didn't think we would go straight to filming like this after just one meeting.'
Even during the meeting, there wasn't much to listen to. It was just an interview about what the members wanted to do.
'At least it's a relief that the accommodation is good.'
Perhaps because they were conscious of the fact that it was filmed, the dormitory looked more radiant than I thought it would. It's the first time for me to stay in a new apartment with such a good security.
Of course, there were cameras in every corner.
"Ah, a camera!"
"Hello...?"
After the guys took off their shoes at the entrance and ran to the living room, they looked at the camera and pretended to notice it. We were asked to do this action beforehand.
'They said it would appear unnatural if we looked like we weren't conscious of the camera.'
In the first place, with this many cameras around, it would be more difficult to not be conscious of it. Even when entering the living room, there were several cameramen and the production crew waiting in the blind spot of the automatic camera.
I heard there will only be one moment today for a filming cut in the early stages of reality show, and then the people will leave leaving the automatic cameras there.
"First of all... congratulations to everyone for making it in the debut group~"
"Woah~"
"Our proof shot!"
The succesful members sitting around the living room clapped and took a picture together before starting the reality show.
"Wow, being like this, it feels like the beginning of a new team battle."
"It sounds about right, except the team battle is going to last five years."
"Oh~ Raebin is taking this well?"
Fortunately, everyone looked natural.
'This is the benefit of living in front of the camera everyday during .'
In addition the atmosphere was friendly with everyone being happy from making it into the debut group. They were three times less sensitive and more tolerant than they were at the time of the audition filming, and exchanged compliments and jokes with each other while laughing.
"You all did a great job."
"That's right. Now it looks like we can have fun with just about anything!"
"Le-let's have a good time...!"
And at an appropriate time, a robot vacuum suddenly popped out from behind the camera crew's blind spot. It was the mascot of the reality show and the main sponsored product.
"Oh?"
"It has something!"
It was a card with a lot of glitter glue dangling near the head of the vacuum cleaner.
Cha Yujin, quick with his hands, lifted the vacuum cleaner and pulled out a card.
"What does it say?"
"That's right!"
Cha Yu-jin excitedly read the contents of the card, with the robot vacuum still by his side.
"Uhmm, 'Everyone... will from now receive missions through cards! To help you become a true group, please...clear the missions!' "
"Oh."
"A mi-mission."
The atmosphere became a little solemn. There was no traumatic reaction to the cards contents.
Ryu Chungwoo laughed as if he had reached nirvana.
"Haha, we passed the audition, but the missions are not over..."
I thought it was bitter.
'...To become a true group, I think the agency should wake up and get themselves together.'

Just three days ago, we were notified by Tnet at least three times a day that the agency we would be affiliated to changed and repeatedly cancelled it.
The foreshadowing was not good.
'It seems that there is some kind of nonsense going on.'
Since the program was so popular this time, it seemed like they wanted to debut TeStar by creating a new direct management agency under T1's level.
However, since there were previous contracts with Tnet subsidiaries, it seems that it was difficult to easily take them away. So our group was left unattended, because the companies were busy arguing with each other.
There was even an article this morning that said we would release a debut song within a month. However, we haven't even met our manager yet.
'This is crazy.'
I held back my sigh.
At that moment, Cha Yujin raised his hand.
"Oh? There's more! 'Today's mission is... free time!' "
"Ooh!"
The atmosphere was instantly relaxed.
I also received high-fives from people around me as a reaction to 'I am very happy with the break I got today.'
'Let's not think about it.'
It's almost confirmed that we will join T1's new agency anyways.
A rookie with no time to spare doesn't any authority. I just had to accept it.
'...Please just don't put any nepotism hires in the position of planning parts.'
//TN: I think it said 'family members' or 'relatives' in the original but 'nepotism hire' kinda explains more.
I hope that the higher-ups will just take care of sales, accounting, and management without touching the planning. I wish they will hire someone with work experience.
"Let's check out our rooms! Let's get a room!"
The members got up with their 'free time' card and began touring their home.
There were three bedrooms and three bathrooms. It was a good composition that could be used separately.
And there was a sign with a number in front of each bedroom.
"TeStar's first mini-game! The topic is to decide the room!"
"You sound the same."
"Se-seriously."
Kim Raebin who volunteered to imitate the MC of became gloomy again because he was able to sound similar enough to trigger PTSD in everyone rather than being funny. Still, the game went on without any problems.
Through several board games with a lot of random elements, the notes were drawn from the box in the order determined.
"This also gives a strange sense of deja vu..."
"I know right..."
Everytime overlapped, the guys got sentimental.
Anyway, I was the second to draw a note after Cha Yujin. It was number one.
'I avoided number three.'
Bedroom No. 3, the main bedroom, was to be shared by three people. Obviously, it was better to be in a room with two people rather than three.
'I wish I can share a room with someone quiet.'
For now, I avoided Cha Yujin.
'I just have to avoid Keun Sejin.'
As I had that scary thought, Lee Sejin, who was next, also picked the note no. 1.
"...."
Keun Sejin and Ryu Chungwoo came in just before the silence could break out.
"Oh~ Moondae and Sejin hyungnim are in the same room~"
"Both of them are exactly the upfront type, so I think they'll get along well."
"Right?"
I am glad there are some quick-witted guys here.
"Please take care of me."
I quickly reached out my hand, and Lee Sejin slowly reached out his hand to receive a handshake.

'I'm a little worried about filming this.'
I liked the fact that it would quiet. However, the cameras will be running for 2-3 weeks and the key was whether this guy could pretend to be friendly during that time.
'The production team will take care of it.'
This isn't an audition show but a reality program, so I think they should edit it well. It's because the production team wouldn't benefit from it in anyway even if there was a controversy.
"Let's quickly pick a room too~"
The remaining assigned rooms ended in polar opposites.
Kim Raebin and Seon Ahyun were in one room.
"Ta-take care of me."
"I look forward to your kind cooperation."
Seeing two guys who weren't very familiar with each other having a greeting battle, I thought it must be quite uncomfortable on their side.
Of course, their situation is much better than mine. First of all, neither of them have the same personality as Lee Sejin.
"Oh~ our room looks really fun."
"I like the big room!"
"Yeah! Let's get along well."
And the room number three for three people... Keun Sejin, Cha Yujin and Ryu Chungwoo shared the room.
It was already noisy, but Ryu Chungwoo looked somewhat satisfied.
'Come to think of it, Ryu Chungwoo's position in the group is a bit left out.'
Among the debuting members, Ryu Chungwoo did not meet anyone in private except for Cha Yujin. It would be better for him to go into a crowded room to quickly get used to everyone.
It must also be like icing on the cake to have Keun Sejin, who is friendly and respectful to people older than him, in the same room.
Following the production team's sign, we immediately moved to the bedrooms to unpack and to take a break.
"Which bed would you like to use?"
"It doesn't matter."
"Is that so?"
If that's the case.
I went straight to the bed on the left and unpacked. It was located on the opposite side of the living room, so there would be less noise coming from behind the wall.
Lee Sejin was also looking at this bed. Thankfully again with no words.
"..."
This isn't a survival show, so why should I please you?
I'm going to be comfortable and do as I please as long as I don't get caught.
Lee Sejin looked this way without saying anything, then went to the other side to unpack.
I began to unpack my luggage with a calm mind. I didn't actually have much, so I didn't have to organize anything.
Ah, I didn't have enough clothes, so I had bought some. It was with the prize money my team won by a narrow margin in the final.
I heard that due to the screentime distribution issue that was posted on the internet after the program ended, I received a bit of curses, but I still got my money so it's fine.
For your information, the kimchi refrigator... I still haven't received it. There are no other scamming bastards like those guys.
'I'm getting a little upset.'
By the time I folded my last clothes with a sigh, the quiet room was filled with the sound of people talking.
"Ta-dah!"
"As expected, room no. 1 is nice. Is it because the first place rank is staying here?"
They were the guys from room three.
Ryu Chungwoo, a graduate from the National University, must have told them how to unpack, so they finished organizing in an instant, and it seemed that Cha Yujin and Keun Sejin were entertaining themselves around the rooms.
"Is there anything you want to eat for dinner?"
Ryu Chungwoo smiled and sat on the bed.
"Galbi!" //TN: ribs
"Jokbal!" //TN: pig's feet
Even if Cha Yujin is like that, it seems that Keun Sejin is doing more on purpose to get the amount of screen time.
...I suddenly had an ominous feeling that I would not be able to get out of this ruckus while the reality show was in progress.
* * *
We had to cook and eat dinner together. Thanks to this, I cooked more than two servings for the first time in a long time.
'It's better to cook than to go to the grocery store.'
Once you go out, you have to talk more, since there are fewer people. In addition, entering a large mart with three cameras required quite a bit of courage.
Anyway, the cooking was quite successful nonetheless. Surprisingly, the assistance with cooking was good.
Except for Seon Ahyun.
"S-so-sorry..."
"There's nothing to be sorry about."
I think he should feel more sorry for his hands, not me.
I kicked Seon Ahyun out of the kitchen, who almost cut his hand for the third time.
Seon Ahyun, who was anxious, finally felt relieved only after he was given the task to set the table.
'...There was an old lady who came to his house.'
I had wondered why he had a housekeeper coming over to his apartment, when he was good at doing the houseworks himself. It was because his cooking is terrible.
Anyway, the jjimdak (braised spicy chicked) came out well. It was Ryu Chungwoo's pick who won the rock-paper-scissors.
'I tried cooking this on my birthday because it was a waste of money to eat out, but now I can use it like this.'
I shrugged my shoulders as I recalled my first year of earning money from data sales.
"It looks delicious."
"That's right."
"...."
Lee Sejin did not respond to Kim Rae-bin's words, but he was surprisingly cooperative in cooking.
'Is it because I'm holding a knife?'
I cleaned up the kitchen knife I was still holding. Meanwhile, the jjimdak was taken to the table by the guys who were in the grocery store group.
"Oh~ Jjimdak is really good!"
"The soy sauce is well seasoned and it's soft."
The meal was a success.
"Should I learn how to cook, too?"
"I'm good at cooking."
"Oh? Then you should cook!"
"But I prefer grocery shopping."
With Cha Yujin's bright remarks, the introduction to the reality show was wrapped up.
"Thank you for your hard work~"
As the filming team withdrew, they installed a claw machine in the living room and left.
All the dolls inside were placed with the back of the head facing the claw.
'It would be a little creepy to see this at night.'
Anyway, they will ask us to pick one of the dolls after we act surprised to see them in the living room tomorrow.
'It's content drawing.'
Tomorrow we will meet the manager and will finally start an album meeting with the agency, to do that I should have a fast good night's sleep.
I hurried into my room with the intention of getting a lot of sleep today.
Lee Sejin was already in bed and looking at his smartphone.
"Good night."
"...You too."
Is it because they ate well? It was a little less noisy than in the morning.
I immediately put on the earplugs and went to bed. In the last view, the camera was spinning alone in the corner.
'I hope the people we meet tomorrow don't just talk nonsense.'
And this wish was only half fulfilled.
* * *
The manager was a decent person.
"Tell me if you need anything!"
He seemed gentle and tolerant. He looked like the type of person who wouldn't raise a hand on a child.
'In truth, it was already too popular to be considered a rookie.'
"When album promotions start, there will be one more manager besides me, so don't worry!"
"Yes!"
There's a high probability that the person who came first will set the atmosphere, so I decided not to care about that for now.
And then the meeting with the agency.
This....
"Won't our talented TeStar take charge of making the song?"
"...? What?"
To sum it up, it was bullshit.

In The Maw Of The Gods
Synopsis Lilly Harper was always the type to keep to herself. She struggled to make friendships and so, she simply opted not to. That was why moving to the coastal town of Wilham didn’t bother her. She wasn’t leaving anybody behind and she certainly didn’t expect to be making any friends any time soon. However, when she starts hearing about the school’s “Magic Club”—a group of weirdos who claim that magic is real, she can’t deny that she’s slightly intrigued. Then without warning, she suddenly finds herself wrapped up with them. And what if they aren’t crazy? What if magic is actually real? And what if it’s because of that magic that something more powerful than they could ever conceive of is drawn to Wilham? I plan to follow a release schedule of Tuesday/Friday. Average chapter length will be 4,000 to 6,000 words and I will be using multiple POV's quite often. Also to note, while I am flagging the story with content warnings, I am only doing so because there are specific moments where it will be needed. Overall, the story will be relatively tame and I plan to put extra warnings at the beginning of chapters that it applies to. Thank you to everybody who decides to give my story a chance and I hope you enjoy it!
