Six Months Later...

"So, are finally going to do it?" Maria spoke to Leo as she holds her cellphone between her shoulder and ear, while Silas held her both hands in his and helped her walk without her crutches. Silas clicked his tongue and looked at her with his eyebrows pinched, "Use earphones, babe. You will cramp your neck." He softly mumbles while his full attention was on her slow steps.

She is still not fully on her feet yet – it is going to take time, but she is not giving up this time. She has to practice this every day at home, so before Silas goes to work – this is a part of their routine for the past four months. Maria know that she would have given up again if it wasn't for Silas being by her side. The first two months were very hard for her, but Silas stayed by her side, and now she has come this far. She can take slow walks for several minutes if he is holding her hands.

Leo heaved a sigh as he stare down at the ring box in his hand before he nodded his head. "Yes, I think I have waited for enough." He replied. Everyone knows about his intention to ask Elizabeth to marry him except for her. He has been looking for the right time to pop the question to her – now it is finally here.

After Owen passed away, Elizabeth was at her lowest for a couple of months. She didn't feel herself. Leo didn't find it appropriate to ask her to marry him when she was still grieving her father's death. Once she started to feel more like her, the process of adopting Liam started, therefore, the proposal had to wait for another couple of months. And then when he finally decided to do it, Mia's trial date came out – which is in a week. Leo realized that something will happen all the time, and he shouldn't wait for the appropriate time anymore – so, he has decided to do it tonight after he gets back home from work.

"You have waited for more than enough. I am so happy for you, Leo." Maria replied. Leo was about to reply when he heard shuffling in the background. "Babe, it is fine." He heard Maria's voice before he heard Silas's voice, "No, put them on. Your neck will hurt." Leo heard Silas speak. Leo's lips curled into a small smile. He realized that Silas must be helping Maria with her morning walks. He would not have called her this early if he wasn't feeling so anxious. Leo woke up this morning with the determination to ask Elizabeth to marry him tonight and he had to share it with someone, so he called Maria.

"I will call you tomorrow. Wish me luck," Leo asked his sister who chuckled, "Best of luck! I can't wait for your wedding!" Maria spoke excitedly. Leo suppressed a smile as he smashed his lips together, "That too if she says yes," He mumbled. Maria laughed, "Of course, she will say yes! She loves you." Maria replied, "Now stop overthinking, work and then return home to the woman you will be spending the rest of your life with." Maria said to Leo – who chuckled and nodded his head.

Later that night, at Marcus's house – there was a situation that Charlie didn't think would ever occur. She perplexedly stood at her house's door while Marcus stood behind her – frowning. She was blocking the doorway – just in case Marcus decides to jump on William, his assistant, who stood in from of her – completely drunk. William giggled, "I love you, Mrs. Harrison!" He yelled at her again after she gaped at him when he told her that the first time, to which Charlie flinched. That sentence didn't sit well with her and she was terrified to turn around to see Marcus's reaction.

The was very unexpected. By eight, Marcus and Charlie had dinner after Marcus returned from work. Since it was a Friday night, he told her that his office colleagues were all going out for a drink and asked him to tag along as well, but like always Marcus declined. Marcus is a proper family man, when he is not working he is with his family. Charlie didn't even think anything else would happen, but now, here she stands in front of highly intoxicated William confessing his love for her. She cringed.

"Oh hello, Mr. Harrison, please don't hit me but your wife is so beautiful – like damn! I love her! She is so nice and cute and did I tell you she is very beautiful?" William drunkenly spoke to Marcus – who glared at his assistant. William would have peed his pants if he wasn't so drunk, but at the moment he was just grinning and giggling at Marcus – who Charlie was still scared to face.

"Yes, you did." Charlie again flinched at Marcus's cold voice. Charlie realized that if she didn't jump in to defuse this all – William might say something more stupid and Marcus could react to it. But before she could do anything, Will chuckled. "Don't worry, Mr. Harrison. I am not going to act on it. She is your wife. I just have a tiny crush on her, but it will pass. I promise. I just thought I should confess – you know, taking it off my chest for once and for all. I wouldn't be able to be this brave if it wasn't for the alcohol, so here I am. I am pretty sure I will regret it tomorrow morning and I won't e able to look into your eyes or speak to you, so let me just say it now. Please don't fire me Monday morning. I really like working for you." He slurred.

Before Charlie or Marcus could react a car stopped in front of Marcus and Charlie's house. A woman stepped out of the car, saw William standing at Marcus's door, and yelled, "William, you idiot!" It was one of his colleagues. Marcus has seen her around in the office, but he doesn't know her name. She ran towards them and slapped William on the back of his head as she reached him. William flinched and rubbed the back of his head. "You stupid man," She gritted her teeth at him before she held him by his arm and dragged him behind her.

She, then nervously, turned to still in shock Charlie and not so amused Marcus. She let out a nervous chuckle. "Um, I am sorry, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison – he – um – he had a lot to drink and he is just being stupid, please forgive him." She apologized before she looked behind her at William and pinched his arm. "Ow, woman!" William complained.

Marcus rolled his jaws before he exhaled. He glared at William who stood behind the woman while smiling lovingly at Charlie, "Please, take him away." Marcus monotonously spoke to the woman. The woman quickly nodded and dragged William off the front porch, "Hey! Wait – I didn't tell Charlie that I love her yet!" William drunkenly tried to free himself. The woman didn't stop and kept on dragging him away, "Yes, you did." She angrily told him.

Charlie rolled her lips in as she tried to suppress her smile. She couldn't help but find it all funny, but she refused to laugh – especially when Marcus is standing right behind her. She cleared her throat and watched the woman take William off their property.

As the woman was trying to get William into the car. He turned around to look at Charlie and grinned, "Charlie!" He yelled out her name. "You are my sunshine! My only sunshine!" He started to sing. Charlie couldn't help but break into laughter. It was too funny as he kept on singing while the woman put him in the car and put on a seatbelt around him.

Marcus looked at Charlie as she laughed while covering her mouth with her hand. He had enough. He held her by her arm, pulled her back into the house, and slammed the door shut. Charlie smashed her lips together – trying to keep the smile off her face. Charlie was the next subject of Marcus's glare. She tried really hard to stop herself from smiling or laughing, but it was really hard to so when Marcus was looking so pissed. He squinted his eyes at her, "You enjoyed it," He came to the realization. He softly gasped, "You liked it." He spoke more loudly this time.

Charlie couldn't help but break into a grin. She chuckled and placed her hands on his shoulders, "Come on, you got to agree. That was funny." She spoke defensively. Marcus kept staring at her while she was having a hard time holding in her smile. He slowly shook his head, "No, you liked the fact that he has a crush on you," Marcus spoke in disbelief while his eyes narrowed.

Charlie gasped – trying to play offended by his words, but it was hard to do so as a smile broke on her face, "No, I am not!" He spoke – her face and her voice defied her. Marcus squinted his eyes and watched his hands on his hips – still couldn't believe that Charlie was enjoying it. When Marcus didn't speak, Charlie broke into chuckles, "Okay, fine. Fine. It is just good to know that younger guys find me attractive. It means I still got it – not like, I want it." She confessed. "It is not like I am going after him. I love you and I am very happy with you, it was just good for my ego." She grinned – while Marcus watched her in disbelief. She playfully slapped his chest, "Come on, don't look at me like that – everyone likes to be admired a bit." She shyly yet playfully added.

Marcus narrowed his eyes with his mouth ajar. He slowly shook his head, "Unbelievable," He mumbled. He couldn't help but start to find the situation a bit amusing as well. He could see his wife's face was red, but she also looked happy and playful. She was enjoying it. Of course, Marcus feels possessive about Charlie – he wants her to love him and him only and he knows that's the case, so he doesn't mind her enjoying the attention she received. But that doesn't mean he was not angry at William – of course, he is not going to fire him, but he will make sure his assistant stays away from his wife.

Marcus playfully rolled his eyes, "You are sleeping on the couch tonight," He told her – making her burst into laughter. "Come on," She laughed. Marcus, himself, couldn't keep a straight face and smile as he rolled his jaws at her. He turned around and started to walk away when Charlie chuckled and held his arm. He kept on walking while she tried to drag him to her.

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine." She joking sung. Marcus couldn't hold the chuckle from escaping his mouth. She laughed along as well. Marcus shook his head and hooked his arm around her neck while she continued, "You make me happy when skies are gray," She sang. Marcus ruffled her hair to annoy her, "Hey! She complained but still couldn't help chuckling.

He knows she doesn't like it before he kissed her head, "Silly." He commented with a smile on his face, while she complained to him about ruining her hair.

Back in Chicago, Leo's hands were shaking a little as he unlocked the door to his apartment. All his way back home, he has been rehearsing what he will say to Elizabeth. He gulped and blew his cheeks out as he opened the door. "Here we go," He mumbled under his breath.

Leo walked into the apartment to find Liam laying on the couch – watching some amine on the television. As Liam heard the door open, he lift his head to look at Leo entering the apartment. Leo smiled at Liam and closed the door behind him. "How was your day, Liam?" He asked the boy – like he always asks him.

It has been six months since Liam has been living with Leo and Elizabeth. Leo doesn't think he has ever met a kid as unproblematic as Liam. Maybe it is because he is too mature for his age, or maybe he is not yet comfortable around the couple. Leo and Elizabeth have asked Liam on numerous occasions if he enjoys living with them and he always answers with a simple yes. Liam is not a child who likes to play around. He is not the one who is always creating a mess. He is not mischievous. He never misbehaves. He doesn't bring his friends home. He doesn't break things or play pranks. Sometimes, it doesn't even feel like an eleven-year-old is around.

He is very quiet and reserved. He doesn't like to talk too much. He hardly ever gets excited about anything – whenever he does – it is usually something related to video games or anime or something geeky. That is why Elizabeth is always bringing her things like that. She recently gifted him a graphic tablet on his eleventh birthday, because he loves to draw, but he never shares or shows anyone what he is drawing. He mostly keeps to himself. He loves to watch anime, play video games, read books and sometimes go out and play with the friend he made in the building.

Liam shrugged, "It was good." He replied short – like every day. Leo nodded and smiled. Leo was taking off his sneakers when Liam spoke again, "I have a question." Leo looked at Liam and put his shoes on the rack before he walked toward the boy, "Yes?" Leo asked. Liam sat straight and mute the anime, "Did you and Elizabeth fight?" He asked. Leo was taken aback by his question. He pulled his eyebrows together and shook his head, "No, why do you ask?" He questioned.

Liam shrugged, "She was crying when she returned home from work. When I asked her what happened she said nothing – she just argued with someone. I assumed it was with you." He replied. "I guess something happened at her work. I gave her some water and asked if I could bring her anything, but she declined and said she was going to take shower. She has been in there for a while now," Liam replied.

Leo doesn't recall arguing with Elizabeth in months. He creased his forehead as he wondered what it could be. He looked at Liam and ruffled his head, "Thank you for taking care of her and for telling me – I will see what happened." Leo assured. Liam nodded and turned his attention back to the television. Leo decided to check on Elizabeth, so he got on his feet. "Did you eat anything yet?" Leo asked Liam.

Liam nodded his head, "Yes, I had snacks. I wasn't hungry for dinner yet. I will eat with you both," He replied. Leo smiled and nodded his head. Liam usually eats early dinner as he has to go to bed, but since it was the weekend – he can stay up a little longer.

A lot has changed since Liam started to live with them. Leo and Elizabeth usually called for takeaways after long days at work, but since Liam came – they have been cooking more at home. They don't want Liam to survive on takeaways, they cook for him – well, Leo cooks for him while Elizabeth just helps. Sometimes Liam helps as well. Leo cherishes those moments when all three of them do something together. It makes him feel like he has a family.

Once a week, they would call for takeaways – tonight could be that day. "Would you like to eat pizza?" Leo asked Liam. Liam's eyes glinted when Leo mentioned pizza. The oy sure do love pizza. Liam quickly nodded his head, "Extra cheese, please." He replied. Leo chuckled and nodded his head. He decided to order pizza for dinner once he check on Elizabeth.

Leo walked into his room and softly closed the door behind him. As soon as he walked in, he heard the shower going on – which means Elizabeth was still in there. Her clothes from work were scattered around the bedroom's floor. Her shoes were carelessly laying around and her purse and laptop were on the bed. Leo clicked his tongue, "She is so messy." He mumbled under his breath before he started to clear out the mess. "Elizabeth," He called her name as he collected her clothes from the floor and put them in the laundry basket.

When Leo didn't get an answer from her. He walked to the door and knocked on it, "Elizabeth?" He called her out again before he collected her shoes and put them in the corner of the room. He will put them in the rack outside once he checks on her. When she still didn't answer – Leo started to get a little worried. Did she not hear him or was she not okay in there? He gulped and knocked on the door louder this time, "Elizabeth?" He called her name out loud, but she didn't respond.

He knocked again, "Elizabeth, are you okay in there?" He asked with a deep frown on his face. His heart was racing in his chest. "Elizabeth, can I come in?" He asked. No answer. "Elizabeth, please answer me. I am getting worried, baby." He spoke again. Again, no answer. "Elizabeth, I am coming in!" He told her loudly. If she had the door locked – Leo will not mind knocking the door down. He was getting increasingly worried for her. She never does this. She always answers.

Leo twisted the doorknob to find the door unlocked. He slowly opened the door, "Elizabeth," He gently called her out. He stepped in to see Elizabeth in the bathtub as the shower runs over her head. She was sitting down naked while her knees were to her chest – while she cried. Leo's eyes widened as he rushed to her side. He didn't care that he was fully dressed and as soon as he sat beside the bathtub and held her face – his clothes started to get wet. "Oh God, what happened?" Leo was already a little out of breath – he was getting anxious.

Elizabeth looked at him and broke into a sob. Leo pushed her wet hair off her face, "Elizabeth, you are scaring me. What happened?" He asked, but instead of answering him – Elizabeth continued to sob. Leo checked on her body to see if she was hurt, but he doesn't see anything. "Are you hurt?" He asked her to which she shook her head wordlessly. "Then tell me what happened? Did someone say something?" He asked.

Elizabeth opened her mouth but instead of words, another sob escaped. She lowered her head and kept on crying. Leo got extremely worried and decided to get into the tub, even if he was fully clothed. He got in and kneed in front of her. He placed his hands on each side of her face and made her look him in the eyes, "Elizabeth, tell me – what happened? My heart is going to stop – what happened?" He asked as his eyes glossed. All the worse scenarios rushed through his head. If she doesn't tell him what happened now – his heart will definitely stop beating.

Elizabeth had a hiccup before she snuffled, "Promise me you will not get mad at me?" Her voice came out hoarsely. Leo pulled his eyebrows together, "Of course, I will not. What happened?" He asked. She gulped and lowered her gaze as she prepared herself to tell him.

"Elizabeth," He whispered – searching for her eyes, but she wouldn't look at him.

"I missed my periods," She whispered. Leo's heart skipped a beat. He paused. His hands slowly left her face. All that could be heard was the water running over their heads. Elizabeth heard the silence from him loud and clear but she had to come clean before she let her decide what to do. She gulped and continued, "I was supposed to have my periods last week. They usually get late by a day or two, but never more. I got worried. Fayette asked me to take a pregnancy test and I did." She whispered and slowly lift her gaze to look back at Leo's widened ones. She bit her lower lip nervous before she spoke, "Leo, I am pregnant." She told him.

Leo was silent – completely silent. Elizabeth was pregnant. When she didn't get an answer from him – her heart sunk in her stomach. She gulped and lowered her gaze while she continued to weep, "I am so sorry. I might have forgotten to take my pills once or twice last month. I didn't want this to happen either, baby, but – God, I am so scared. I am so sorry." She sobbed.

Leo blinked, "I am going to be a dad?" Leo finally whispered. Elizabeth nodded her head without looking at him. "Really? You are pregnant?" He asked again to which Elizabeth lifted her gaze and look at him. "Yes," She whispered back.

Leo blinked and sat down. He blinked and let out a nervous chuckle. Elizabeth sniffled and looked at him as his eyes zoned out elsewhere. She gulped and watched him as he brought his hand to his chest. "Wow," He whispered. "I am going to be a father." He whispered to himself. Elizabeth put her hand on his leg, "Leo," She softly called his name, but he didn't listen to her. He blinked again, "Wow, that is scary." He nervously chuckled. "I am going to be a father." He said to himself again.
