"I want to smoke," Elizabeth heaved a sigh as she sat on the bench outside the hospital, along with Silas. She and he have been sitting outside, for a while now – neither of them was speaking to one another. They were both silent – lost in their thoughts. Silas had his eyes lowered to the ground – he had a lot on his mind – from his father to his wife, who is alone back at home – coping with the sudden demise of Sean. While Elizabeth was looking skywards – she just couldn't take the fight she had with Leo before she left, off her mind. She still couldn't believe that knew about his dad's cancer and didn't tell her. She was hurt. He had no right to hide it from her.

Now Leo has been trying to reach Elizabeth since she landed, but she refused to talk to him – not yet. She needs to be with her father at the moment – she had already lost so much time because Leo didn't tell her anything – she is not going to waste more. Silas heaved a sigh and looked at his sister, "I thought you quit," He mumbled.

Elizabeth blew her cheeks out, "You are saying like I was a chain smoker. I only smoked when I am stressed, and yes – I did quit smoking even when I only used to do it when I was stressed, but God, I down care at the moment – I just need to smoke," She exhaled and put her hands in her jacket's pockets while she leaned and slide down on the bench – sitting in a very uncomfortable position.

Silas lowly chuckled, "And what about your doctor boyfriend? What will he say when he finds out you smoked." He asked. Elizabeth rolled her eyes. He used to smoke as well, but he quit along with her. They promised each other that they will not be doing it ever again – even if they feel like they have the urge to do so, but at the moment she didn't care if breaking her promise to him will hurt him – then bring it on – right now, she is all in for it.

She sat straight and heaved a sigh – while looking down at her feet, "Yeah, we don't care about him right now. He can go fuck himself," Elizabeth sourly spoke – causing Silas to raise his eyebrow. "That was harsh." He commented. "What did he do to make you this mad?" He asked. Elizabeth glanced at her brother – she wondered if telling him the truth would make anything worse, maybe it will not – or maybe it will. It might hurt him to know that Leo knew about it all this time, but everything hurt at the moment – let there be yet another thing.

Elizabeth opened her mouth to answer him when they heard a voice from behind them, "He knew about dad's cancer and did tell her," It was Marcus. Elizabeth and Silas, both turned their heads around to see Marcus walking toward them. He walked in front of them and stood right there. Silas pulled his eyebrows together, "Wait – he knew?" He asked perplexedly. Elizabeth clenched her jaws and stiffly nodded her head, while Marcus glanced at his sister and look back at Silas before sighing and nodding his head.

"Yes, Franklin just told me. Leo knew since dad came here for his treatment." He replied before he looked down at his sister, who was looking away from her elder brother, "In his defense, dad forbid him from telling anyone – including you – actually, especially you." He pointed out. "Leo had no choice," Marcus shrugged. "Leo did ask dad, again and again, to come clean to us about his cancer, but dad never did. It is not his fault – so stop being a baby and talk to him." Marcus said to Elizabeth.

Elizabeth squinted her eyes and looked at her older brother, "How did you know that I am not talking to him?" She asked. Marcus lightly shook his head, "Franklin told me. Leo has been calling him after every other hour – asking him about you. He is worried, Lizzy. Just go talk to him," Marcus suggested calmly before he put his hands in his coat's pocket and pull out a pack of cigarettes. Elizabeth's eyes sparkled at the sight. Silas raised his eyebrow at his elder brother but didn't say a word.

"To be frank, I am stressed as well. Maybe tonight we all can have it," Marcu suggested. Silas rolled his eyes, "I don't smoke," He replied. Marcus and Elizabeth glanced at each other before they both burst into chuckles. Silas rolled his eyes at them again before he folded his arm over his chest, "Anymore, okay?" He added defensively. Elizabeth kept on chuckling while Marcus softly smiled.

"Hey, do you remember that time when all Silas did was smoke and drink after Maria's accident?" Elizabeth recalled. Marcus wrinkled his nose at the memory, "Oh yes," He replied with a head nod. "Dad was actually thinking about installing a vent in his room. His room smelled like a chimney," Elizabeth recalled. Marcus chuckled while Silas completely ignored his siblings for poking fun of him.

"Forget about the smell of the smoke. Don't you remember when he stopped taking showers," Marcus recalled. It was Elizabeth's turn to wrinkle her nose as she faked a gag, "Oh God, how can I ever forget that smell. I never thought there would a degree of smelling that – ripe." She shuddered at the thought. Marcus couldn't help but laugh, while Silas rolled his eyes at his sister, "I was going through a lot, okay? It was a phase, and it did not smell that bad, okay?" He spoke defensively.

"Dad thought you were dead, Silas." Marcus pointed out. It was Elizabeth's turn to laugh. She slid aside and made space for Marcus to sit on her left while she was in the middle and Silas was on her right. Marcus sighed and sat on the bench. He tossed the pack of cigarettes on Elizabeth's lap before he fished out a lighter from his other pocket and passed it to her. She didn't wait to take one out of the pack and light it up.

There was complete silence between the three of them. After Elizabeth, Marcus was next to fish out a cigarette before Silas reluctantly took one out as well. None of them usually smokes, but they all felt the need to do so. It has been a very stressful couple of days for the siblings – both, emotionally and physically. After a few minutes of silence Silas decided to speak, "Where is Franklin?" He asked Marcus.

"I sent him home. He looked tired. He has been here at dad's beck and calls since his treatment started. He needs some rest of his own," Marcus replied. Elizabeth nodded as she blew the smoke out, "He has been here for dad all this time. He is amazing," She commented. Silas chuckled, "He sure is. He didn't care about his own health and decided to be with dad all this time." Silas added.

Elizabeth sighed, "Is dad still sleeping?" She asked Marcus, who nodded his head, "Yes, Franklin told me that he has been sleeping a lot lately." Marcus told them. All three pairs of eyes glossed, but none of them said a word. They know that there is not much to discuss about their father's health. Now that they are here for him, they can see how Owen isn't getting any better.

Leo was sleeping in his bed alone when his phone started to ring. He groaned and looked at the screen to see Amanda calling him. The light of the screen felt bad to his eyes so he squinted them and answered it. He wondered what time is it? It wasn't morning yet – he was sure of that. "Hello," His voice came out hoarsely.

There was silence for a few seconds before Amanda sighed, "Leo, I think you should come to the hospital right now," The gravity in her voice was enough to wake Leo up. He sat straight, "What happened?" He asked. His heart was racing in his chest. There was a part in him that already know what it is about. Amanda took her time to reply, "It is Sharon. She passed away in her sleep a few minutes ago," Amanda replied with a heavy heart. Leo tightly closed his eyes and lowered his head. He felt his heart drop in his stomach, "I will be right there," He mumbled.

Back in London, it was morning and the three siblings hardly slept all night. None of them was ready to leave their father unattended, so after a lot of time out – smoking and chatting – they came back inside and waited outside Owen's private room to wake up. Since the sun was up and shining, Silas went to the cafeteria to get all of them something to eat and of course, coffee.

Marcus stretched his legs out as they were sore from sitting in the same position for so long, while Elizabeth stood on her feet and stretched her limbs as well. "Please ask Silas to get me two cups of coffee," She mumbled to Marcus, who smiled and nodded before he nodded and texted Silas to get their sister two cups of strong coffee. "How about you go home and get some rest, Elizabeth. I will call you as soon as dad wakes up," Marcus proposed, but Elizabeth shook her head, "No, I am not leaving dad here." She spoke firmly.

Marcus didn't press her further. He knows how close she is very their father. He understands that she doesn't want to leave him. After minutes later, Silas walked toward them with a cup holder in one hand and a small brown bag in the other one. He placed them on the bench outside their father's room, "Did the doctor come to check on him?" He asked as he handed Elizabeth her first cup of coffee.

Marcus sighed and shook his head, "No, not yet. He will be here in an hour. He will update us about his condition then," Marcus replied. Elizabeth lowered the cup and let out a shaky breath. She has been nervous all night about what news the doctor might give them. She has been preparing herself for the worst, but still, she couldn't kill that like a glint of hope in her chest that maybe – just maybe her father will be able to fight it through. Elizabeth's thoughts were interrupted by yet another call from Leo. He has been messaging and calling her nonstop since she arrived here, but she is not ready to talk to him yet.

Marcus saw her ignoring Leo's calls. "Elizabeth, will you please talk to him?" Marcus asked while taking a sip of his coffee. Silas nodded his head, "Yes, Maria also told me that Leo is very worried for you. Talk to him." He added. Elizabeth heaved a sigh, "I will, but only after I meet dad. I don't feel like talking to anyone before that," She replied. Marcus and Silas exchange glances, both brothers know that it is useless to try to ask Elizabeth to do something, she doesn't want to. She is very stubborn and will only do what she thinks is the best.

But still, Marcus felt bad for the guy. Leo must be worried sick for Elizabeth. He knows that Leo loves and cares for his sister, so he decided to put him out of his misery and texted Charlie to forward his message to Leo since Marcus doesn't have his number.

Marcus opened his phone and went to the chats with his wife. He smiled at the last message Charlie sent him, which was a picture of Kathie and Ella. He missed them and asked Charlie to send him a picture of them. Once he knows about his father's condition in detail – he will then call Charlie and the kids to London. If God forbid, Owen doesn't have much time left then Marcus wants everyone to meet him before – Marcus halts his own thoughts – he couldn't even continue with them. It hurt him deeply. He lightly shook his head and typed Charlie a message.

Hey babe, when you read this can you do me a favor? I have a message for Leo, can you pass it on to him? He has been trying to reach Elizabeth, but she had a fight with him and now she is not answering him back. Can you tell him that she is fine? She told me that she will talk to him once dad woke up. She doesn't feel like talking to anyone before that. I know Leo will understand. Thanks, love. I love you and I will talk to you and the kids later.

"You text like an old man," Marcus was taken back by a voice behind him. He turned around to Silas looking down at Marcus's phone. Marcus narrowed his eyes and locked his phone, "It is rude to look into other people's phones, Silas." He rolled his eyes. Silas didn't say anything – he just shrugged and drank his coffee before he walked away from his other brother and to his sister.

The three siblings had their coffee outside Owen's room. None of them had an appetite to eat anything, so the sandwiches that Silas bought were still in the brown bag – resting on the bench. After a couple of minutes, a nurse went into Owen's room to check on him. All three of them stood attentively outside the room. After a few minutes when the nurse announced that Owen was awake – they didn't wait for anything. All three of them rushed inside the room to finally see their father.

While back in Chicago, Leo put his phone back in his pocket. He didn't receive Marcus's message yet, but he decided on his own to give Elizabeth some time. Leo was currently in the hospital – along with Liam. The boy was silently sitting on the beach – completely zoned out. The poor boy is just ten and he has already seen so much trauma in his life. This is unfair.

Leo had to wake the kid in the middle of the night because there wasn't anyone to look after Liam while comes to the hospital. Leo also had to tell Liam about his grandma's death alone as well. He wished Elizabeth here with him. He needed her, but her father needs her more, so he will not be telling her about Sharon until necessary. Breaking the news of Sharon's death to Liam was one of the hardest things Leo had to do in his life.

At first, Liam didn't cry. He had sat on the bed with his gaze lowered. But when Leo hugged him and told him that he is not alone, Liam broke into tears. He just lost his only family and even when Leo was there was him – Liam felt alone.

Leo still couldn't take Liam's words off his head, "I knew she would leave me. I knew I will be left alone." Leo wanted to scream and assure him that no matter what – Liam will never be alone, but he didn't say anything and just hugged the boy closer to him.
