《The Guy Named Harrison: Book One》80

Carrie watched him set a huge stack of fan mail down in front of her. "Get to work."
"What am I looking for?"
He opened one to show her. "Most of these are letters or cards that people want me to sign. And as you know, I don't have the time to read through every single letter. That's why I have my secretary do it. Then she sorts out the ones that I should look at for myself."
The one they looked at as an example was his football card with a note and request for an autograph. "If you see one like this, I want to see it. And if they send something they want me to keep, I want to see it."
He tossed the letter over to his pile. "If there's one that's just an autograph request, it goes in the trash pile. Some people don't understand when the simply ask for the favor, I don't have to sign whatever it is they want me to sign. We shouldn't have this problem because those ones have already been hopefully taken out. And if they don't have a return envelope or package, throw it out. I don't pay to ship it back, and it's much easier that way."
Harrison sat beside her. "Here we go."
The first few he opened were fans asking for his autograph on one of his football cards. He quickly signed the card, slipped it in the return package, and threw it on their finished pile.
"How often do you do this?"
"I try and stay after practice once every week to go through my mail, but it never gets done. I just get too much."
He signed another card before telling her, "honestly, the best way to get me to for sure sign something, is come to practice. I know that's hard for some families to come all the way across the country, and some families can't afford to pay when I sign at conventions. I really don't like that they charge for autographs at conventions and stuff like that, but I'm not the boss. And I can't get to everything that comes through the mail."

He loved to sign autographs. But signing through the mail with his fame, was so hard to do.
"Will you take these back tomorrow?"
Harrison nodded. "Yeah and they'll mail them for me."
Carrie kept going through her stack until she came to a small package. It was the first package she or Harrison came across this evening. She opened it. Inside was a letter, and a football jersey. But it wasn't Harrison's.
"You might want to look at this one."
"Let me see."
She handed the package to him. He pulled out the tiny jersey. It was his number 59. And on the back, it was signed in a child's handwriting. Harrison found the letter that came with the package written in the same handwriting the signature was in.
Dear Mr. Harrison,
I am 8 years old. My name is Jacob and I am your biggest fan. I wear number 59. And my friends and a lot of people call me Captain America because I am a middle linebacker just like you. A lot of people are afraid of me because I am good at tackling and I am good at intercepting passes just like you. I am sending you my autographed game jersey so you will know who I am when I get to be a famous NFL player like you. 59 ROCKS!
Your friend, Jacob
"That's so adorable," Carrie said when he finished reading the letter.
Harrison held up the jersey. "It's so small."
"I want to see some of your tiny jerseys."
He smirked. "My parents have those ones. Can you hand me a piece of paper?"
Carrie handed him a sheet of paper and a pen. "What are you gonna write?"
"You'll see."
Jacob,
Wow! Thanks for sending me your autographed jersey. And as a thank you, I'd like to return the favor. It's from our last game this regular season against the Falcons in Atlanta. In the note you sent, you said you're a linebacker. The linebacker position is the most important position on defense. Sometimes we have to blitz and stop the run, while other times we have to drop back in coverage. I really hope to see you in the NFL someday. I think that would be awesome. Remember, keep working hard, practicing hard, and studying hard. Those three things will help you get into a good college to play football. Keep up the hard work.

Your friend, Harrison
He let Carrie read the note as he walked down the hallway, and to the closet across the hall from Carrie's office. In there he kept Panthers jerseys and helmets from all his seasons.
Harrison found his white Panthers jersey from the last regular season game against the Falcons. He carried it back to the kitchen where he quickly signed it and wrote '59 ROCKS!' beside his signature on the top of the five.
Then he placed both his signed jersey and the note back in the box and sealed it back up to be shipped back to Texas where it came from.
"You are so good with your fans," Carrie told him as he placed the package on their done pile. "They love you."
"It's the least I can do. For all the support they give me."

A Fate Set in Stone (On Hold)
After dying and making his way into the afterlife, our protagonist happens to have a stroke of good luck. With the help of the substitute god of death, he's given a second shot at life in a world run by gods who probably played too many video games as kids. Monsters, magic, dungeons, bandits, and all that good stuff is there, except it turns out to be much different than Jed initially expected.(I picked some generic tags since this is my first story and I am not 100% sure where it is going to go. Mature warning is only there for some less-than-polite language.)
