《I'm A Krieger Harris》Chapter Thirty Four

- Paige's POV -
Well, it's now Monday and I'm back at school even though we got in late last night from England, but y'know... I can't skip school but it's whatever.
I can sleep though because in first period, once again, I'm ahead.
I enter the classroom almost late because the bell is literally about to ring, but no one is in here besides Danielle.
"I'm the only one again?" I ask as I sit down. "Yep. Congrats on your contract baba." She says. "Thanks." I say and she nods. "Can I sleep for a little bit?" I ask. "Yeah, go for it. Just don't tell my boss that I told you to go asleep." She says and I laugh. "Okay." I say before laying my head down.
What feels like a minute later, I feel my shoulder being shaked.
"What?" I ask raspily as I start to wake up, and raise up.
"Your phone keeps going off like crazy." I hear my sister say, making me confused so I dig my phone out of my backpack and see tons of notifications for news stories, social media, missed texts and a few calls from Sue and even... Rapinoe? And some from the team, and one from Coach.
I see the time and notice we're still just in first period.
I open Sue's texts first.
Hey, can you call or text Megan ASAP?
I then head to Megan's texts.
Kid I'm sorry for everything, you know I am, but it wasn't me who released what happened.
I know you hate me but please call me when you can and we can sort this out.
I then scroll through the news notifications and everything on what happened between us got out somehow.
The bell rings snapping me from my racing thoughts and actions of scrolling through everything.

"Danielle can I go into your back room?" I ask, my voice a little shaky.
"Of course. Are you okay?" She asks worriedly. "Yep." I say, lying.
I get up and quickly go to the back room, dialing Rapinoe's number as I do.
"How the hell did this get out?" I ask quietly into the phone. "Woah woah, calm down, kid. I don't know, it wasn't me." She says. "How do I know it wasn't you?" I ask. "Because you know I'm not like that, and after how you reacted with that reporter when asked about our relationship, I would never release what happened because that is our business." She says and I sigh.
"You're right." I say reluctantly.
"I'm getting on a flight to Florida in a few minutes. I'd rather meet in person than over phone to fix this with you because it's better that way. I messed up, kid. Bad. I'm ready and hoping you will forgive me." She says.
"Okay...." Is all I say. "See you soon." She says. "Yep." I say and the call ends.
I head back into the main part of the classroom and I'm still the only student.
"What the hell? Am I still the only one?" I ask. "I guess so." Danielle shrugs and says.
I then sit back down in my seat.
"Let me guess, you're looking at the trending news about me and the one and only Megan Rapinoe?" I say. "Yep, and who leaked it because I'm gonna beat their-" There's a knock on the door before it opens and we look to see the principal.
"Good morning, how's it going today?" He asks. "Good." We say. "You the only one, Miss Harris?" He asks me. "Yes sir." I say. "Must be nice." He says and laughs. "It's alright." I say. "Yeah. Have a good rest of your day Paige, Miss Jayco." He says before leaving.

"I don't know who leaked it but I'm gonna have a visit from Rapinoe later so we'll see how that goes." I say.
I really don't know how this is going to turn out or hell, what even is gonna happen.
_____________
I just left school and parked my car on the roof of a parking garage because Rapinoe and I needed a private place and this garage, no one ever really goes to the roof so... Yeah.
I sit in my car for a second, making sure I'm fine to do this. We literally have only spoken when needed to.
I get out of my car and go and stand next to her, and look over Orlando.
"Hey kid, how are you?" She says after a minute. "Pretty good, you?" I say calmly. "Good, good. And I'm alright." She says, and we fall silent for a little bit again.
"Paige, I know there's nothing I could do to make it up to you for what I did. That was a childish and shitty mistake that no one should ever make, especially to someone who is sensitive and has been through a lot, especially losing their parents. If I could go back to the day we got to camp that time, I would immediately have given you that book, and not taken it. I'm sorry, Paige. So, so, so sorry. But one thing I want you to know, even though it was super wrong of me to go through it, you've got some major writing talent."
I stay silent for a little bit after she finishes speaking.
"I'm sorry, too." I say without looking over.
"For what, kid? You don't have anything to be sorry about." She says.
"Reacting the way I did. And I understand that I can be upset in a situation like that, but I really overreacted and like you said, I'm sensitive which is very true. And hate is a very very strong word and you are the last person that I would ever think I would hate, Pinoe. Outside of your sometimes immaturity, you've been there for me just as much and if not more everyone else when I've went through shit, and sometimes your immaturity is what cheered me up, and I've honestly missed that." I say and finally look over, seeing her looking at me.
"I've missed it too." She says with a small smile, and I nod slightly.
"We good?" She asks. "I don't know. It may still take a little bit of time. But, I don't want the press to ruin your career because I'm not like that and we need to figure out what to do." I say and she nods.
Well, that went sorta better than I thought.
