《I'm A Krieger Harris》Chapter Fourteen

- Paige's POV -
As I walk back angrily to Mal and I's room, I can hear all of them lecturing and yelling at Rapinoe. I'm looking down as I walk and I accidentally run into someone.
"I'm sorry." I say as the other person apologizes as well at the same time and I look up to see Coach. "Oh, Coach." I say and look back down trying to hide my face and put my songbook behind my back. "I hear yelling and it's not the usual yelling I hear during team bonding. Everything okay?" "No actually, but if you don't mind I'd like to put something in my room." I say and she just gives me a small nod and a small frown, before letting me past her.
- Mal's POV -
"What the actual fuck Megan? Why would you go through her book, let alone ruin something and lose another thing that are the most important things to her?!" Ash yells at Pinoe and Ali and Kelley are trying to keep her from hurting her. "After everything she's been through, why?" I say. "It's because she's fucking-" "HEY! Girls, what the hell is going on in here? I thought this was team bonding, not literally going at each other." Coach says and we all stay silent. We all look at each other.
"RAPINOE DID IT." We all say besides Rapinoe. "Alright, Rapinoe, Carli, with me. Mal, Paige was heading your all's room, and Harris, calm down please." Jill said and walked out with Carli and Rapinoe following her. "Go." Ali tells me so I sprint out of the room and sprint towards Pai and I's room.
- Carli's POV -
"Lloyd, explain." Jill says. "We were just playing truth or dare in there when Pinoe asked Pai truth or dare, which Paige chose truth and she asked her if she ever writes stories or songs or other things like that. Paige said she does and then asked Pinoe. Which she chose dare leading Paige to grab her songbook from under Pinoe's bag and ask why she had it. Pinoe tried lying about it. Paige flipped through it and started freaking out about something missing, which Pinoe lost a super important picture and ruined a super important letter." I say. "What was it you lost and ruined Megan? Why is it important?" I looked over to see that she silently had tears streaming. "I didn't mean to, but it was the only things she had from her parents and I didn't know." "So I'm guessing you went through it?" Jill asked her. Megan hesitantly nodded. "I regret everything, but what the second truly thing I want to say, is that she has some crazy good talent." "We all know the kid has talent, but do not take teammates things, let alone go through them. I'm gonna have to bench you for the games this camp." Jill says. "I understand Coach." Is all Megan says. "Now it's almost curfew so rooms please." Coach says and we nod before leaving the room.

"You fucked up Megan." I say as we walk back to our room. "I know Carli. I know." She says.
- Mal's POV -
I get to our room and see that Paige isn't in here, which I know she might be on the roof so I run as fast as I can up there.
I see her standing by the wall, just overlooking the view.
"Paige?" I ask softly and she turns around. "Yeah?" She responds. "Are you okay?" I ask as I walk to her. She still has her book in her hands. "Yeah. I have the whole letter memorized but it still doesn't change the fact that it's ruined. And that was the only picture I have of us all together. But yes I'm okay." She says. I just give her a small smile and wrap my arms around her, and she wraps hers around me. "I love you." I say. "I love you too. And surprisingly, I want you to read one of these I wrote." She says. "Okay, let's just go in first since it's almost curfew." I say and take her hand as we walk back to our room.
"This one." She says and points to a page as she hands me the book.
It has her beautiful handwriting straight down the page. After I stop admiring her handwriting, I begin reading.
Like you, be strong
To hold the power of the sun
To dream, believe
In strength now I'm the only one, only one
(A/N - switching boy to girl)
I was an ordinary girl
Until I broke the rules, my life destroyed
Life destroyed
Until I woke awake, scream my mind I shout
the ground shakes
How much can I take? My mind will break

Will it break? Can I take?
Can I be your superhero?
Superhero
Can I be your superhero?
Superhero
Superhero
Superhero
Fly up, away
It's the first time of today, today
To dream, believe
You are the strength, you're all I need, need
Ooh, gonna give it a shot, only one of me
To shoot you off from the enemy
Your superhero
Your superhero
Can I be your superhero?
Superhero

Can I be your superhero?
"B- Babe." I say when I finish reading and look up to see her fiddling with her hands. "This is amazing." I say with a huge smile. My girl is a writer! And she's an amazing one! "You think so?" "Of course! This is beautiful baby." I say. "You don't have to tell me, but what's the story behind this?" I ask softly. "It's between mine and Kaylee's perspectives of our lives growing up. We knew each other since kindergarten and we instantly became best friends. She had her family problems and I had my own problems, and we always saved each other." She says blankly. "Oh." I say and she nods and yawns. "Let's get some sleep, alright?" I ask. She nods and we lay down and I run my hands through her hair as she cuddles into me.

Stairway to Heaven
Humans are complicated, awfully fragile beings, far too weak to survive amid the other extraterrestrials that lie dormant across the galaxies. Instead of physical altercations, they would rather engage in verbal abuse, breaking an individual's psyche as a hobby. They excel at deception and manipulation, far too interested in bringing their brothers and sisters down and reaching for the top of their self-made hierarchies. Beyond their questionable nature and moral compasses, they long to find meaning in their lives and put names to the feelings that drive each passing moment. They are insatiable—far too greedy for more knowledge and a supposed understanding of their lives. It's pitiable, really, the way they struggle to find themselves while ravaging their kind through petty wars and conflicts built off of misunderstanding. Humans are complicated, awfully fragile beings. They created words and languages to fill the holes that lived inside their souls, desperate for ways to find meaning in their incredibly short lifespans. They'll waste their entire lives trying to find their so-called passions and reasons for living, acting as if they truly rule the way their lives go, supposed "controllers of their own destiny." Yet, they cannot evade the inevitable visit from death, who stands next to them, ticking the seconds down until their demise.
