《Dying Love (BakuKiriKami) Book One》Unloveable (Arc I Start)

Denki sighed as he listened to Aizawa drone on and on about the final exams. Kaminari knew he should pay attention, but he was distracted by the two boys sitting in front of him.
Bakugou and Kirishima were holding hands secretly underneath the table, Bakugou's thumb gently brushing over the back of Kiri's hand. It was a sweet and gentle action, one that was totally opposite of Bakugou's nature. It was making Denki's heartache.
For the past few weeks, he had noticed he had started to feel jealous of the two boys. But he couldn't understand why. He couldn't figure out who he had a crush on, Bakugou or Kirishima.
Denki forced himself to look up at Aizawa and away from the two lovers in front of him. It didn't matter which one he had a crush on, neither would like him back, plus they were dating each other.
He sighed and closed his eyes. He felt something soft hit the back of his head and he looked around and saw Hanta had thrown a piece of scrunched-up paper at him. Denki smirked and opened it.
Don't fall asleep, I didn't take notes this time so I can't give you any.
Denki looked up and back at Sero, who was smirking a little. Denki held back a chuckle and he nodded and faced frontwards again, only to come face to face with his angry sleep deprived teacher.
He gulped and slunk down in his chair.
"Care to answer the question, Kaminari?" Aizawa asked tiredly.
Denki's eyes flicked towards the whiteboard in the front of the room, just in case for once Aizawa had written the question on the board.
"That's what I thought," Aizawa said, he sighed and looked around, noticing how everyone else was hardly paying attention either.
He closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose, "I don't get paid enough," he muttered under his breath as he walked to the front of the class.
"You all are dismissed," Aizawa ordered, "now get the fuck out so I can sleep."
Only Iida protested as the raven-haired teacher got into his yellow sleeping bag.
The rest of the students set glares that could kill at Iida, finally making the boy be quiet.
Denki stood with the rest of his peers and gathered his stuff, Sero walked over to him and rested his arm on Kaminari's shoulder.
"So what were you daydreaming about?" Denki looked confused, then realization spread across his features, and he laughed off Sero's question, "nothing bro."
Sero raised an eyebrow, "sureee," he said sarcastically, then he grinned and whispered in Kami's ear, "did you see Bakibro and Kiri holding hands under the table? Relationship fucking goals amirite?"
There it was again, that familiar ache that felt like a knife being thrust into Denki's heart.
"Yea I did," Denki said in an uncharacteristically downhearted tone, he glanced over at the two lovers and instantly felt his heart wrench, they were laughing and Kirishima's face was as red as his hair.
Sero eyed his friend and ruffled his hair, "you okay, buddy?" he asked.

Denki smiled, even though he and Sero were the same age, Sero had taken the role of older brother to Denki. Not that Kaminari minded, he loved Sero, platonically of course. He couldn't handle three crushes at once.
"Yea I'm okay," Denki said, "just anxious for the exam," the last part wasn't a lie, he was extremely anxious.
Unlike the others in the class, his quirk had only minorly improved over the two years they had been at UA. At least it was minorly in his opinion.
Sero chuckled and hugged the shorter guy, "you'll do finneee" he said.
Denki shrugged and looked up as he saw Kirishima and Bakugou heading over to them.
"Oi, dunce face, soy sauce. Let's go," Bakugou said, Kirishima only chuckled at the nicknames.
In truth, it hurt Denki that Bakugou called him that. It made him realize that all Bakugou thought of him as was a screw-up who when he short-circuited was fun to laugh at. But as long as Denki made him laugh, he didn't really mind. He had seen the videos Mina had taken when Denki went into his dumb mode. It both hurt and comforted him to see Kirishima and Bakugou laughing at him as he stupidly moved around. Sero was smiling but he had also made sure Denki didn't hurt himself, like the good non-brother brother he was.
"Where are we going?" Sero asked nonchalantly playing with Denki's sunshine blonde hair.
Denki noticed, but he didn't care. Both his and Sero's love language was touch. Again, Denki and Sero didn't like each other that way, they were just close enough to be comfortable with doing small things like that.
Bakugou didn't respond, his eyes were fixated on Sero's actions, he was frowning. But that wasn't new, Bakugou was always angry about something.
Kirishima spoke up for Bakugou, "we're going to the mall remember? We planned this last week!"
"Ohhh," Sero smacked his forehead with his hand and laughed, "I totally forgot, but yea let's go!" he turned to Denki, taking his arm off Kaminari's shoulder and asking, "you up for it?"
Denki knew Sero was suspicious of how he'd been acting. Sero had constantly been asking if Denki was okay, or if he was sick. Well, he was sick, but a different kind of sick. He was lovesick for his two best friends.
"Yup!" Kaminari said, shoving his hands into his jean pockets and giving the three his usual bright grin.
Bakugou let out a 'tsking' sound and turned to the door.
"Let's go, extras," he said, not waiting for them to answer before he left the room.
The other three followed suit. Sero chuckled.
"We gonna walk for five miles to get to the mall orrrrr,"
Kirishima laughed, "of course not, we're taking my car."
Sero's eyebrows raised, "the lambo you got for your birthday?" he asked.
"Yup!" Kirishima said with a smirk, enjoying the raven-haired boy's envy.
"So cool!!" Sero said, pumping his fists in the air in a celebratory gesture.
Denki smiled and walked a little bit behind the trio. Watching Kirishima brag about his new car.

Kirishima wasn't rubbing it in anyone's face on purpose he knew, Kirishima was just very fond of his red Lamborghini he had gotten two months prior.
The four boys left the school, driving downtown towards the district mall.
"FUCK YOU!" Bakugou yelled at a random car that had pulled into the parking spot Kirishima had been waiting for, "I'll blow their ass up," he growled, getting ready to commit murder over a parking spot.
"Chill dude," Kirishima said, putting his hand on Bakugou's thigh to keep him inside the car, "we can find another parking place."
Denki found himself staring at Kirishima's hand. The familiar heart-wrenching feeling hitting him in a strong wave of emotion. He caught Sero's eye, and Denki knew Sero had noticed his staring.
Avoiding Sero's gaze he pointed to a vacant spot closer to the mall entrance, "there is one!" he said, suddenly anxious to get out of the car.
Denki felt like he was suffocating from the close proximity.
Kirishima grinned, "see Kat, Denki found one closer!" he looked back at me with a proud look, one that made the suffocating feeling increase.
Bakugou 'tsked' again but didn't say anything else. The Bakusquad had determined that usually meant he approved, or at least tolerated something.
Kirishima pulled into the parking space and the four boys got out of the vehicle. Denki felt Sero's eyes on him as he took a deep breath.
The suffocating feeling wasn't going away.
"You okay Kamibro?" Kirishima asked, noticing the usually chipper boy looked pained.
"Yea, I just need to use the restroom, meet back in the dining section?" Denki asked quickly.
Before the others could respond, or ask what was wrong, Denki hurriedly left them and entered the mall.
He frantically looked around in a slight panic. Another wave of heart-wrenching sadness washed over him as he stumbled into the boy's bathroom. Luckily it was a stand-alone one so he had the whole thing to himself.
Denki felt something scratching at his throat and he stifled a cough, but as soon as he coughed once, he was kneeling over the toilet, coughing harshly. He felt something flutter into his mouth from his throat and he gagged, spitting out four petals.
He blinked in confusion. What the actual fuck? When had he eaten flowers? He sat there on the bathroom floor for a few more seconds, staring at the flower petals in the toilet. Two were orange roses, the other one was red petal that was different from the orange. A petal that he didn't recognize.
A wave of nausea passed over him and he clutched the toilet bowl and heaved, trying desperately not to throw up his lunch.
A metallic taste filled his mouth and he touched his hand to his mouth and withdrew. His eyes widened. Bloodstained his fingers.
Denki was jolted out of his stupor by his phone ringing. He quickly flushed the toilet and rinsed his hand off as he answered.
"Are you okay dude?" Kirishima's voice worriedly asked over the phone.
Denki felt something flutter up in his throat again and he had to force himself not to cough.
"Yea I'm fine, I just must have eaten something bad.." his voice hoarse from coughing so much.
There was a pause and Denki could hear his friends talking amongst themselves.
"Do you want us to take you home?" Kirishima asked anxiously.
"No, no..." Denki said, he looked in the mirror, at the blood running down the corner of his mouth.
No one could know about this until he knew what was happening.
"I'll walk. My house isn't that far from here."
"Are you-" Denki hung up, interrupting Kirishima.
He felt bad, but every time Kirishima spoke it made Denki's throat itch, and the petals building up in his throat made him want to start gagging.
He coughed up the petals and then rushed out of the bathroom, knowing if he waited any longer his friends would come looking for him.
He dashed out into the cold spring air and started half walking half running home. Trying to keep himself from throwing up any more flowers.
When Denki got home, he dashed up to his bedroom. His parents were gone on another mission in the US like they almost always were. He was glad for once.
Kaminari flopped down onto his bed and googled to try to find out what the fuck was going on with him.
He clicked on a link that seemed to know what it was talking about, and Denki's breath was taken from him as he read the following.
Hanahaki: The fatal disease that results from one-sided love.
Symptoms: coughing up blood, and the favorite flower/petals of the person's crush.
Treatment: A surgery in which will take out the roots of the plant in the person's lungs. Resulting in the person forgetting their crush entirely. Without the surgery, the disease is deadly unless the feelings are returned.
Denki didn't move. He was dying. All because he was unlovable? Denki didn't know how to react. He had wanted to become a hero, to prove to everyone that he wasn't as weak as they thought.
But now he was going to die because his best friends could never return his feelings.
Dread washed over the young boy as the realization sunk in. He didn't want the surgery. He instantly set his mind against it. His life had been utter hell before he had met Kirishima and Bakugou, and even though he would have Sero, the thought of forgetting Kirishima and Bakugou made him want to die at the thought.
Kaminari felt tears building up in his eyes and a sob hung in his throat. He saw a text message from Sero, asking him if he was okay. Kaminari didn't respond. He didn't know how to.
He set his phone on his nightstand and curled up under the covers. He was glad it was Friday, he didn't have to go to school for a couple of days. Until then, he could figure out what the hell he was going to do.
