《The Tracking ✔》Chapter 54-Angel In Disguise

I look at Jared for a moment in silence and then I burst out in a fit of hysterical laughter. "Jared...you didn't tell me how funny you were!"
His face stayed calm and collected and I stop laughing. "Oh you're telling the truth." I acknowledge, becoming totally surprised.
"Is it that hard to believe? I mean, you're a werewolf and a witch. A lot of people wouldn't believe that unless they seen it." Jared has a small smile that plays on his lips which puts me at ease from thinking that I didn't hurt his feelings.
"How can you see it though? How come you've never told me? I could've used your help these last months !" My outburst isn't angry, it's more like a best friend getting mad at hers for not telling her important information even though it's understandable for it to had been kept a secret for a certain period of time.
"I don't pick and choose what I see. I see the important things, but sometimes I get them really late, or within a good time before."
I process his words and let out a breath, "So you knew how this would end?"
I can't complain on how everything ended with the rogues, but knowing that Jared may had known what would happen gives me a feeling of betrayal. Which seems silly, but knowing what would happen could had helped Theo and I.
"The future I seen wasn't like what happened." Jared looks down, as if the foreshadowing scene he got wasn't pleasant.
"So you changed it some way." I put the pieces together, although the puzzle was still completely jumbled up. That's how I imagined it in my head anyway. If he's the only one who had seen the future, then he was the only one who had the power to change it- since I'm assuming he didn't tell anyone.
"Morgan was going to do something bad if you hadn't had showed up wasn't he?" I ask, realizing how scary it could had been. Especially with Jamie involved. Did the future Jared seen involve Jamie dying ?
How many other times has Jared seen the future and directed it from a horrible outcome? Has he ever tried telling me about these things ?
Jared leans back in the bean bag, "I can't see alternative futures. Some things can be changed, some can not. What my father would have done-" Jared pauses, looking up at the ceiling. "-it would had been successful in getting what he wanted."
"And the only way he could had got that was?" I pester an answer even though I'm not sure I want to know it.
Jared raises his eyebrows in surprise that I actually asked. "Claire, you don't want to know. Please don't make me tell you."
I nod immediately and accept that I shouldn't know or make him tell me. Whatever it was would had been horrible.
"Thank you, Jared." I say after a couple minutes of silence. My emotions start bubbling up and I feel some tears come. I feel like the most cursed and luckiest girl in the world.
"For?"
"For saving lives. Theo's, Jamie's, the witches, and many more. You're a hero." I smile, having an overwhelming urge to hug him but stay seated.
Jared looks out the window, lost in thought. Usually someone his age would love being called a hero. It would feed any teenage boy's ego.
Except Jared. Imagine being fourteen and seeing the future, as cool as that sounds to others, it also sounds like a curse.
Thinking of it as curse reminds me of my own and the question comes to mind, as does a million others with it.
"How can you see the future? I thought you were a normal werewolf." My question comes out a little more nosy than I thought it would and I internally cringe.
"It happened a little when I was younger, but came in a lot more when I met you. I have no idea how I can do it."
I stand up, walking around to a window peering out to the green grass that used to be red with blood. The rain beats down as some pack wolves arrive from a morning run. They start transforming back to their human form .
Theo emerges from the trees shortly after everyone else. After he turns back he looks up at me and waves. I wave back, smiling at him. I'll talk to you later, love ya. I mind-link him. He nods and me, I love you too.
"How many times has it happened since you've met me?" I ask curiously, I walk back and sit down on the cot. I still have questions, but don't want to pry. I try to go back in my memories of Jared to think of the times he could had been changing my future, but everything seems so natural and right.
"Sorry, you don't have to answer-" After he doesn't answer me for a moment I say. He's kept this a secret from me for a reason, I mean I have no idea how much it hurts him to talk about it. I-
"First time was when my father wanted me to put wolfs bane in your sandwich. He claimed that you were evil. I was going to do it, because I hadn't seen any other future for myself other than being with them. Then, I seen what he was actually going to do to you." Jared answers, a small guilt crosses his face.
"So, you fake peed on yourself?" I giggle slightly. If he saw what they were going to do with me he shouldn't had been shocked when he saw what I could do.
Jared laughs, rolling his eyes. "No of course not, that was real. You quite literally scared the piss out of me and I hadn't seen that far into the future yet to know you were a hybrid."
I laugh and shake my head.
"Second time was when Theo and Drake were chasing us. When we got to the gas station, I knew it would be okay if you went with Theo. I knew he was going to love you uncondionally, because I had seen it. "
I smile and remember that moment when I racing down the interstate and Jared kept trying to give me food because I was freaking out. Then how I ran out of gas and had to park at the gas station. Jared took the keys out of the ignition and said to not be scared. I got out, still scared, but he tried to make me feel better.
"Third time, the rogues came here for the first time. Drake and I said that we heard it in town- but that wasn't true. I saw it, but told Drake that lied. He wanted a reason to come back and help, so he bought it easily."
I don't even have time to respond to that before he starts on the fourth one.
"The fourth, we were talking about the council and I told you that maybe they could help. You called them stuck up pricks and denied it. I saw then as well, a future where they knew and they wouldn't try to hurt you. However, if I forced it on you it could've had different results. You could've made things a worse."

I laugh slightly, but I remember I thought I had good reasons for thinking that way. Was it some things Kelsia said or just my fear talking to me all along? I convinced others and myself that the council would never accept me, and just see me as an abomination.
"Fifth, the last fight here. I saw my father in my vision. I didn't just get a feeling, I saw him. I saw what he was going to do, and I also saw what Melanie and Natalie did. Naturally, you tried to get me to stay up here with them but since I had that knowledge, I had to stop it. I partially did, but then another horrible vision came up when you went with him. I had to find a way to stop that as well. So, I convinced everyone to let me come. I knew I was the only one who could keep the vision from coming true."
Jared finishes and I let out a big breath. "Wow," I mumble, processing everything. I sit there for a moment and then lean back on the cot.
"You are remarkable, Jared. Like my angel in disguise."
Jared smiles, "I would hardly call myself an angel."
I shrug, pursing my lips. I stand, walking toward the door of the attic. "How come I never knew this till now though?"
Jared looks up, meeting my eye. "The same reason you didn't want others to know about your abilities."
____
Big bulky pale arms enclose around my body and lift me up in the air suddenly. I giggle, recognizing the familiar scent of Nutella and woods. Drake laughs and puts me down. I turn around to see his big goofy smile beaming down at me.
"I'm back in the pack!" He exclaims.
"Yeah, finally!"
"So, do I have to start calling you Luna now?" He's mouth turns in a small pout and I roll my eyes.
"I don't know. I'm going to find Theo and then we are going to speak with the council about everything. I know everything will be fine," I pause and remember how I begged Jared to tell me what the outcome was to talking with the council since he knew but he wouldn't tell me, "But who knows if they will let Theo and I to continue being an Alpha and Luna to this pack."
"I'm sure it will be okay. Either way, if you need me I'll follow you anywhere."
The comment almost sounds like he's flirting or hung up on me, but recognize it as how close we have got in friendship. He followed me around when I couldn't face Theo, just to make sure I'm okay. I know that's what he's trying to say now.
"Thanks Drake. I better find Theo, but I'll talk to you after everything! I promise." It's getting time to meet with the council and that is not a meeting I want to be late for. I turn away and begin walking in the direction I was heading.
"You better!" I smile at his response and keep walking down the halls of the pack house, nerves creeping up my spine once more.
I get to the meeting room where the council is inside, talking with each other. Theo and I offered to fly to their main headquarters in a few days to speak with them, but they insisted to talk here today. We can't deny the council, so we gave them rooms for the night.
Theo comes from the opposite hall and meets me at the door. He looks more nervous than I am, and I already know everything will be okay, He doesn't though.
"It will be okay, I just know it." I say, kissing him on the mouth. He doesn't lean into the kiss or really even kiss me back. I pull away and notice he still looks scared to death.
"Honey, trust me." I say gently. I put my hand in his and he relaxes slightly. "We have each other, we always will have each other."
His features relax and he looks down at me, he leans down for a kiss this time. I capture his lips in my own. Allowing his tongue to explore and my lips to move in sync of his.
"Should we go to a utility closet again?" I pull away biting my lip and ask in a joking manner.
"Definitely after this meeting." He winks and kisses my cheek.
I giggle lowly and then we open the doors...
________
The whole pack comes in, taking their seat in the chairs and some choose to stand. Theo and I stand at the front of the room and try to keep calm. Ever since talking to the council, he and I been fighting back our nerves for the past hour as we have gathered everyone up.
Theo squeezes my hand as we continue watching everyone come in the room in a orderly fashion. I can easily sense some of their emotions. They are a little nervous themselves about what Theo and I have called this meeting for. I can't blame them. I would assume that another pack of rogues was coming for me again.
This is different. This is going to be a big change but a good change. This will be good for everyone, Theo and I included. I hope at least.
Everyone is in their place as a few other's join the room. Ruby, the vampire, and some of her friends enter. My nostrils flare at the scent and I advert my eyes from her. Theo says they are friends, but I feel like he's not telling me something. I can't say he's hiding it from me though because we haven't really had a chance to speak about that specifically.
Theo notices her presence, but I don't feel him tense up or become uncomfortable. Which eases my mind from different thoughts. Maybe I'm just being unintentionally judgmental.
Bellamy, his wife, and warriors left this morning. We thanked them tremendously and as did the council, who awarded them a medal of bravery to take back to their home pack. I know that Bellamy and Kelly were excited to accept it and go back home with bragging rights.
"Thank you all for meeting. JC and I have news to share with you." Theo lets go of my hand as he says this and crosses his own hands together as he steps closer to the pack. I noticed Kate, Theo's mother in the corner front. She smiles up at Theo and I with pride and I smile back at her. She doesn't know what our news is either, but I'm sure she can read from Theo's face that everything is alright.
"I am what is called a Spell Bound Lycan." He clarifies. It takes me a moment to remember that the warriors were told to keep quiet about it so the women and children wouldn't freak out.
"First, I should explain what JC is. She is a hybrid. A cross between a werewolf and witch. She has been that way since birth. I on the other hand got changed into a Spellbound Lycan about a week ago. The rogues wanted to be what I am. They would kill for it because it would give them incredible strength as well as immortality."
Everyone stays silent as Theo speaks to them. Though Theo and I have stressed them out and confused them for weeks, they have been a loyal pack. Much better than my one back home.
"I'm proud to say that they did not succeed." Theo smiles as someone starts a clap that leads the other ones in more.
"The council have restrained the remaining rogues, however others may feel their places. JC and I didn't want to alert the council in the beginning because we feared they would had wanted to kill JC so the rogues have zero chance of getting her blood." Theo pauses, glancing at me. " But they don't want to do that. What they have offered is good."
Theo stops and looks at me again, I continue for him, "-and it's right. It's the right thing for all of us. We are going to go work with the council and use what we have to help supernaturals all around the world. Theo and I will have protection in their walls."
I lick my lips and try to think of my next words. "We are not hiding, but this give us a shot at giving you all a normal life. As well and Theo and I, we don't want any more blood shed."
The pack still looks a little confused, so Chase speaks up. "Who will be Alpha?"
Theo looks at him for a moment, and I'm sure he thinks about how stressed Chase and his friendship has been since I entered the picture.
"You." Theo answers.
"Me?" Chase clarifies with a slightly gape mouth and wide eyes.
"You're the Beta, the rightful leader if something was to happen to me."
"But you're just going with the council, you're not dying."
"No, but that doesn't mean someone else deserves this. This pack is your top priority, that what they need."
Chase is stunned as other members nod and agree wholeheartedly with Theo. "We will visit and be here anytime you need us to. I hope you all understand."
I nod, agreeing with Theo and watch for everyone's reaction. Honestly, I expect them to embrace Theo and talk about how much they will miss him. But me? I can't tell if they care much about where I go.
Theo officially concludes the meeting, and instead of everyone leaving. Theo and I are both embraced in hugs and good lucks. Kate comes up to me and hugs me tightly.
"As much as I hate seeing my baby boy go and not be the Alpha of this pack any longer, I'm so happy to see him have a loving mate that cares about him. This can open some big doors for you guys." Kate runs her fingers through my hair as she says this.
"I do, I love him very much and will always protect him." I reply back.
Kate sighs and gets a distant look in her eye, "Just make sure he knows that his father would still be very proud of him."
I take a deep breath and think about how Theo must be feeling with not being the Alpha anymore or being able to pass down a legacy. Granted before we believed that we wouldn't have children because of the rogues, going with the council may make that dream of raising a family come true.
We both know that that can't happen here and it's something we may need to reevaluate in the future, after we see how life will be with the council.
"Of course, and I'm sure you can visit any time. Or maybe even come with us like we are going to ask Drake and Jared to-"
Kate interrupts me.
"This is my home and they need me. Chase- good lord- Chase will need me. " She and I laugh and look over at Chase. Theo and him are talking seriously, but seems as if they've both made up with each other.
"You guys will be fine, but I will come visit." She adds. I hug her neck and kiss her cheek.
"Hey, can we talk?" Ruby comes into view and I internally sigh, but smile.
"Sure!" I agree, then says goodbye to Kate. Ruby and I step to a corner of the room. She looks nervous and bites her lip.
I swallow my pride and decide that being nice would be the best thing to do, especially since she's nervous I wont like her. "It's nice to meet you Ruby." I extend my hand and she takes it hesitantly, shaking it.
"I thought you should hear my side of the story. Theo came to Miami looking for you. He showed me your picture and I had seen you since I was keeping an eye on Drake for completely different reason-" She shakes her head and laughs nervously, "But anyway I wouldn't tell Theo until he gave me something."
My heart drops to my stomach and I let in a shaky breath. "You may or may not know but werewolf blood gives us a high and that's what I asked for from Theo-"
"You're telling me that you fed off of my mate?" My voice raises slightly, even though I try to keep my anger down to a low boil. The act of feeding of someone, who is willing is more of a sexual and intimate thing and if my mate allowed her to-
Ruby shakes her head no immediately, placing her cold hand on my crossed arms. "No, no. He cut his palm. I drank out of a cup. He didn't want to, but he was so set on finding you..."
I look into her eyes and easily can tell she is speaking truth. I glance over at Theo to still see him talking to Chase, but his gaze comes over to me. I don't necessarily hold an angry expression with him, but he notices I'm speaking to Ruby and he ends the conversation with Chase and walks over.
"JC, I am ashamed of making him do that." Theo walks up at the end of her apology and looks at me with a scared expression.
I stand there for a moment, looking between him and her. Then let out a breath, looking at my tennis shoes, "It's fine."
I look back up with Theo, but with understanding in my eyes. "We both did things that we aren't proud of. "
I look back at Ruby, "I don't really like you, but thanks for helping my mate find me. It was what I never knew I always needed."
Ruby accepts this hesitantly and smiles. "Thanks," Before she walks away she hangs back, "- and you're welcome!"
Theo and I are left as people empty the room, then eventually we are left alone. I wrap my arms around his waist and rest my head on his chest.
"So you aren't mad I hadn't told you yet?" His question is nervous and I can almost smell him getting a little sweaty from his nerves.
"No, I know you would have eventually. But honey, everything you have done and I have done led us to each other. I wouldn't of had it any other way, everything turned out how it was meant to be."
Theo nods and bends down to kiss my forehead. "I love you so damn much."
I look up at him and smile, "I love you more than anything."
