Part 2

Theo

We all arrive at the Pine Creek Field. It's completely dark now, but we call can see perfectly.

Alpha Bellamy stands beside me. He was a little annoyed that I asked him to tag along to save Drake, however I informed him that the rogues are the ones who kidnapped him. My pack warriors are ready, as is the half hundred Bellamy brought with him.

We are standing at the left part of the field, facing darkness and trees.

"This could be a trap. They could all be heading toward the pack right now." Bellamy says to me as if I hadn't considered that an option.

"JC will tell me if they are. We are just fifteen minutes away. Seven minutes if we run in our wolf form." I inform him, watching my surrounding carefully.

Soon a figure appears in the tree line and walks our direction. It seems to be woman as she walks and the curves on her body. She reminds me of someone. It takes her a few moments until I can actually make out her face.

"Ruby?" The petite red head from Kitty Cafe and Milkshakes stands before me once again. But this time, not serving me coffee. She isn't "The Alpha" is she?

"Theo?" She acts very surprised and walks closer. My warriors and Alpha Bellamy immediately recognize Ruby as a vampire, and they visibly stiffen up. In Miami, every supernatural being mostly gets along. However, we aren't in the city and a vampire is a threat to us.

"You took Drake?" I ask, even though everything is coming together to make sense. Back at the little diner, Ruby told me about how Drake supposedly told the werewolves that the vampires wanted to kidnap pups for blood.

The werewolves obviously confronted the vampires about this. It caused a big break in their alliance with one another.

"You're friends with that lying mutt?" She asks in a snappy tone. She places her hand on her hip, looking directly at me as if I should be ashamed.

Bellamy mumbles under his breath, "What the fu-" I know him and everyone else is confused on how Ruby Red and I know each other.

"Yes. We are friends. Where is he?" I clarify the fact Drake and I are friends and watch has her eyes widen at my response.

"I told you what he did." She announces, offended. Her eyes show she's angry, but yet me being here is a game changer for her, I know it.

"I've heard Drake's version too. I didn't know who you were talking about before, but I grew up with Drake. He's a good guy. He would never do what you are accusing him of." I defend Drake, trying to speed the process of getting him back. I would hope Drake would have told me the truth. It's then I remember that he said the wolves lied because they knew the vampires would go after him, which would have got him away from JC. The rogues were after JC when she was on the run. We didn't know then why, but now we do.

Ruby looks at me curiously and looks around at each of my warriors that she could see. She's searching for someone in particular. "You're mate isn't here. You did find her right? She's who I invited to attend." She detours to another conversation, acting truly concerned. By now, my patience is growing thin.

"Yes I found her. Thank you for your help. She couldn't come." I add in my thanks because it seems this woman lives off of appreciation. I knew it when I met her in the cafe and she's that way now. But whoever is actually in charge, the "Alpha", has her wrapped up tight in his hold. Because she doesn't seem to be flattered by my gratitude.

"JC is the one who could have saved him. But since she isn't here, I guess he actually doesn't have a chance."

My mind grows more and more puzzled every time this woman talks. Bellamy mumbles curse words under his breath, but still allows me to try and handle the situation.

"Ruby, we need to talk this out." I voice my opinion. I try to hide the annoyance in my voice, but it's clear as day.

The red head rolls her eyes, steps to her right and walks to the side. She's looking at all my warriors. They all remain like a statue, they won't move unless I tell them to.

Ruby eventually walks back over to me as I let out a large dramatic sigh. "Okay sugar here's the deal. My tracker noticed JC's different and reported it back to me. The wolves knew what he was talking about and said that in order to make everything okay again... I needed to give them JC, or kill Drake."

"So the difference between killing Drake and taking my mate is? What?" I ask trying to piece together the difference between the two. The rogues have obviously not told the vampires about what they would become if they captured JC.

"For JC, the vampires of Miami would get two-hundred years of a treaty with the werewolves. No fights for two-hundred years is hard to pass by. For Drake, we would get forgive for just this one accusation." She pauses, "Since JC isn't here and we clearly don't have enough of an army to take her, Drake will have to do." Ruby looks slightly disappointed as she glances around at my pack. Then she looks back at the woods and motions with her hand.

Ruby doesn't know what she is dealing with. The rogues want JC for power. Like Jackie said, There will be a war against ever supernatural being on Earth if the rogues get JC. Including the vampires. I'm thankful I didn't let JC come.

I just need to get Drake out of this situation, but they want blood.

As many as forty werewolves and several vampires come out of the tree line, dragging Drake by the back of his shirt. I clench my fist in my hand and keep my cool. I try to thing of things I could do to keep his murder from happening, but Ruby is hell bent on making him paying.

Finally, all of them are in front of us. Bellamy is still mumbling under his breath and I fight the urge to tell him to shut up, because he's making me more nervous at the scene in front of me. As much as I wanted to become Alpha, I was never prepared for this.

Maybe we could take them all. The wolves are rogues, the vampires however would be harder to kill. Drake's eyes find mine and he looks absolutely terrified. I wish he was apart of the pack because then I could communicate with him through mind-link.

"It looks like we are taking a problem out of your hands, since he hasn't been with you for weeks. He just set in that little house, alone. An outsider." Ruby states looking down at Drake is pity, then disgust. Still, she manages to laugh.

"We were coming to take Drake home with us. He's done nothing wrong in our eyes. You're outnumbered Ruby, let him go. This is all pointless."

"This is pointless?" She asks in a mocking tone. "Six vampires and four werewolves died because of this misunderstanding Drake constructed. Those deaths are not pointless."

I let out a breath and try to choose my next words carefully. It honestly isn't a relationship worth mending if different ones died because of an accusation. A friendship wouldn't be that easily broken, certainly one that took centuries to construct."I don't know what to tell you Ruby. Drake's not dying today, you're not going to kill him."

Bellamy nods his head beside me, agreeing. Ruby looks at me, studying me.

"If you brought your mate, Drake's life wouldn't be on the line. The wolves just want to talk to her." Ruby states. The rogues all look at me, knowing that I know what they are trying to do.

They have the vampires manipulated.

I lock my eyes with Ruby's once more, "They want to make my mate a slave. They want to become immortal and acquire great strength so they can kill off everyone other than them, including you." I say the truth, even though it sounds half-crazy to someone who has no idea about what I'm talking about.

The rogues don't even flinch under my accusation. They simply laugh. "Yeah right." One of the female rogues say and she walks to stand by a confused Ruby.

"It's true Ruby. We've been fighting off rogues for weeks. Drake was protecting JC. The rogues told you all a lie, knowing you would go after Drake- leaving her unprotected. They tried to get JC when I was still searching for her." I try to reason with her. I can see the question in her eyes as to why the rogues would want to destroy their friendship with the vampires for this, but I see her arrive to the answer as quick as she asked herself. The rogues want power, they don't need the vampires to be apart of that, but they sure can use them to get what they want.

One of my pack members asks me why we don't just kill them all in the mind-link, but I don't want to start a bigger war if I can win over the vampires.

The female rogue looks at me with anger after I finish speaking. I'm spot on, so they are naturally mad. "Ruby, we would never do that. Our friendship means too much to us to just trick you like that." The rogue defends her and the other's rather quickly.

Ruby looks deep in my eyes for the truth. I only hope she recognizes the deceptions she has been through. "So your friendship meant so much that you killed six vampires? Including the red head's sister?" Alpha Bellamy adds his two-cents in.

The rogue snaps her eyes to him and clenches her jaw. They are getting more and more hot headed by the minute. I notice the other rogues with fist clenched and the vampires growing more suspicious of the rogues standing right beside them.

"We all got into a fight because of the lie Drake fabricated. Don't turn this around. We lost people too." A male rogue said a little bit more urgently and nervous that I expected. Ruby takes note of this as she looks back at him with tears in her eyes.

"My sister..." Ruby looks down at Drake, piecing it all together. Drake remains looking at the ground, keeping quiet. "- she said she found out something. Something that she needed to tell everyone about. But she didn't get the chance before you attacked us."

Ruby's eyes fixate on the girl beside her. I can tell in her eyes she finally understands. She doesn't look at this rogue with understanding anymore, but with hatred. Her eyes are replaced with bright furry red instead of the light color they originally were. "She killed your four people so ruthlessly. I couldn't understand why she would be so willing to destroy everything we worked so hard for. I couldn't understand why she would kill her friends... but now I do."

Ruby looks at me quickly, giving me a queue to attack. Let the vampires fight the rogues, then capture them after. I mind-link everyone. Within seconds the rogues were being slaughtered.

"You understand now?"

"Yes. I'm so sorry! I've always been well at reading people but this... I never saw coming." I tell one of my men to let her go, then rub my temple in exhaustion and frustration. Ruby gives me a weak smile and she shrugs out of their grasp.

"I'm so so so sorry." She apologizes again. Ruby was never a bad person. She obviously cares about her family a lot and cares about keeping the alliance. She was just so gullible. She wanted to make everything right back home, and for that- I can't condemn her. I can imagine the hell the vampires and werewolves go through living in the same city together as enemies.

"No one died. It's all good." I say referring to my men. I feel terrible that six of her own died, including her sister. Her sister found out some how what the rogues true intentions were. They killed her before she could tell anyone. Then the rogues covered it up with either the lie or faulty revenge.

"Drake almost did." She says looking at Drake who was standing listening in on the conversation.

"Yeah. It was a trap, but I'm glad you didn't let JC come." Drake says looking at Ruby with judgmental eyes. but also grateful ones.

"Hey! I didn't know it was a trap." Ruby sticks her tongue out childishly and I roll my eyes. I need to get back home to JC but I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to bring the vampires with me or not.

"Theo, what did they really want? With your mate? If it wasn't to talk to her?" She asks resuming her naturally curiosity. I debated telling her. Should I? It would mean more people knowing, but also more help. I know the vampires and witches don't want to help another supernatural become more powerful than the other. So, I know they wouldn't switch sides.

"They are called Spellbound Lycans. With JC's blood and a witch, the rogues could become more powerful than anyone."

"Yikes." Ruby says with widened eyes and pursed lips. "I didn't know such a thing existed."

I shrug my shoulder and decide not to mention I am a Spellbound Lycan. I actually never had to fight. The vampires were so mad at the rogues that we didn't get to even lay a hand on them. Bellamy only had to kill one rogue that attempted to escape his own slaughter. So, if I'm different, I can't tell. Not yet anyway.

"I want to help. If they are trying to do what you said they are, then everyone is in danger. We call all help each other." She offers.

"We should head back." Bellamy comes up to us at the moment. He wipes the blood off his face with a handkerchief. Ruby looks at him with lust, but I shake my head no at her. Vampires can mate, but they don't have to. But once you choose someone to be that for you, you can't take it back.

Alpha Bellamy glances at Ruby, giving her a look of annoyance and distaste. However, him and I have mates. The rest of the unmated men couldn't take their eyes off her or a few of the girls she brought with her. They are very beautiful, deadly creatures.

After privately consulting with Bellamy about whether he would be comfortable bringing the vampires back to the pack house with us, we decided that it would be okay. They can give us extra protection and hunt a few towns over. Plus, Ruby's sister did technically die trying to protect us, even if she didn't even know us personally.

"Okay Ruby. I guess you all are coming with us. Who was the Alpha that signed the letter?" The question arose in my mind and I thought it best to figure out who that is before taking them back.

"The wolves suggested I put that on there..so you wouldn't suspect us." By "us" she means vampires. I guess it makes sense but couldn't they leave it unsigned. I swear rogues are so extra and dramatic.

Ruby continues excitedly, "Oh I can't wait to meet JC! She and I will get along very well I think."

I let out a short scoff. JC will most definitely not like her, because I will have to tell her about how Ruby and I know each other.

So let's get this show on the road.

I'm excited to hear how you like the book! Don't forget to comment and vote!
