《The Tracking ✔》Chapter 40-The Fire

Pack Warriors stand guard around the back borders, and then the yard of the pack. They swap out occasionally, but I can tell everyone is tired. Hopefully Alpha Bellamy's warriors will help my pack, so they can rest.

"How long will this take?" I ask Kelsia. JC grabs my hand as we walk and I glance at her to see she's slightly worried.

"Maybe five minutes?" Kelsia answers and sits her bag in the grass around the fire pit, getting out different objects.

Chase walks up at the moment with his mate, Violet. "What's going on?"

I've not mentioned anything to the pack members about my plans to become a Spellbound Lycan. I have no idea how they would react and I definitely don't want to be talked out of it.

"Kelsia is going to do a spell, it will make me stronger and immortal." I say quickly and dare I say even natural. Then I turn back to observe Kelsia getting out a silver knife, a bowl of some kind, and some herbs.

"What? You need to talk to the pack about this. Or at least let me know that you were wanting to do this. We're best friends man." Chase says both offended and hurt.

JC walks to Kelsia and gives Chase and I privacy. I turn back toward Chase and step off to the side.

"I don't need to consult anyone other than my mate about this. This is for the pack and for her." I gesture to JC. Chase shakes his head, looking at me in confusion.

"How is this best for the pack? You are a werewolf, not this Spellbound Lycan thing. The Moon Goddess will not be happy about it." He says nervously.

I grit my teeth and look back toward the two girls, who are beginning to set everything up.

"The Moon Goddess gave me a mate that has all this baggage and burdens on her. JC is immortal and her blood could build a dangerous army. So, whether the Moon Goddess likes it or not, I will do whatever I can for my mate to protect her and my pack from destruction."

Chase can tell that I will not be wavered on this subject. The Moon Goddess can be mad at me all she wants, but she put me in this situation.

Chase nods, looking away from me and then back at me. Violet hasn't said anything the whole time, but then speaks.

"The women and children would like to know how long they should expect to say down in the bunker." She asks lowly.

"I will let them know as soon as I know something. Now, you should get back down there and do not speak about what I'm doing. I don't want a uproar." I say sternly. Violet gulps and nods. She kisses Chase and then goes back to the location of the bunker.

Chase doesn't say anything more to me, he just walks away toward some of the men standing guard.

Kelsia stresses we need to get it done quickly, so I gather some wood up and stack it in the fire. JC helps me by gathering up several at a time with her telekinesis and putting it in the pit. Some of the pack warriors attention draw to JC when they see her doing this, and I look at them. Telling them to stay alert.

Their attention adverts back to walking the borders and tree lines.

"Okay, JC you have to light the fire." Kelsia says and JC looks at her with a blank stare, so do I. What does that mean? She has to light it herself?

"I don't have any matches or a lighter." She says and I turn in for the house to get some.

"No, Theo. She has to light it, with her abilities" Kelsia corrects herself. JC backs up slightly with a nervous red face.

"I've never done that before. All I can do is telekinesis." She says with a cracked voice. She looks at me for guidance, but I look back at Kelsia in confusion as well.

Kelsia stands, walks to JC and grasps her hands firmly. "I told you that you can do more than what you think."

I thought telekinesis was all that JC knew how to do? So she is supposed to shoot fire balls from her palms? How come we haven't been practicing all these other abilities? How much more can she do?

"We need to hurry, I'm sensing that they will be coming soon. They know you are outside." She whispers to JC where only she can I can hear.

I look off toward the woods, feeling the presence of the rogues just about ten miles away. They are assembling. Whether they come today or the next day, it will be soon.

"I don't know how to." JC admits and turns toward the wood.

"You can do it. You learned to use your telekinesis by rogues attacking you. You imagined pushing them away. Just imagine setting fire to something and push the energy to the tips of your fingers."

JC looks back me with uncertainty, but I just give her a slight smile of reassurance that she can do this. As if my mate didn't amaze me already, she is literally going to create fire from her fingertips.

"How do you know I can do that?" JC asks Kelsia, distracting herself from actually attempting to do it. I know she feels incapable. She still feels weak.

Kelsia goes to answer her but I interrupt. "Babe, we don't have time for questions. Just try please." Her questions are totally understandable, but like Kelsia said we need to hurry.

JC raises her hands up, moving her fingertips slightly and turns toward the fire pit.

"Focus your energy whether it be love, hate, or vengeance-either one of those, focus on letting it overcome you. The fire will burn in you, you can feel it. Just release it this time." Kelsia says, watching JC.

JC closes her eyes, breathing in and breathing out. A few minutes is all it took, and JC's eyes snapped open to red fiery-like eyes. Kelsia smiles as fire comes from JC's fingertips. JC's eyes are trained straight ahead. She isn't looking at the fire coming from her hands or the wood in the pit.

"This part is easy. Imagine projecting the fire forcefully into the pit." Kelsia gently says as to not alarm an entranced JC.

JC, without looking down at the wood puts her hands down. The red flames dance of her fingertips, lighting up the dark around us.

Without much of a second thought, JC swung her hand and fire engulfed the wood. JC fell to the ground and I immediately scooped her up in my arms before she completely landed.

"Did I do it?" She asks weakly as if she doesn't remember. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

"Yes. Are you okay?" I ask and she nods looking at the fire, the red and orange colors burning in her eyes.

"Theo, do you want to do this?" Kelsia asks urgently, placing things into the bowl and getting the shiny long silver knife. It looks just as any other knife would look, nothing special about it other than it being a silver blade.

"I need to do this." I reply not taking my eyes off my sleepy mate. Kelsia says okay and starts mixing herbs into the bowl quickly.

Then she walks over to me with the knife. "JC has to cut her own palm and put it in the bowl." She hands me the knife. If the rogues ever got JC it seems like they would have to have her do the majority of things.

JC tries to sit up so I help her by letting her lean against my front. She reaches for the knife and I give it to her. I watch her carefully as she slices her hand slowly with no problem. I flinch looking at her blood. Kelsia moves the blood under her dripping palm.

"I'm sorry baby." I find myself saying to my mate. I wish she didn't have to do any of this. I'd take it all away if I could.

JC lets out sigh resting into my arms again, "This is the right thing to do."

I smile and kiss her forehead tenderly. Kelsia stands, she must have got all of the blood she needed.

"I need you here Theo." Kelsia calls to me. I lay JC down on her back in the grass. She can hardly sit up and as soon as this is all taken care of I will be able help her.

I walk over to Kelsia, the fire's rage beats against my chest.

"I have to cut you with this knife." She says and I put out my arm, offering it to her.

"I have to cut you on the back of your neck, and it has to be deep so it will hurt." She says as if I will back out after learning that. So she will be scarring the back of my neck, how nice.

I turn around from Kelsia and get down on my knees, so it's easier to reach. I let out a deep breath, ready to go through some pain. I watch JC as she lays in the green grass as if it's the most comfortable bed.

"You may scream." Kelsia notifies me, placing her hand on my shoulder. I can feel the tip of the blade against my neck.

Chase, come carry JC in the house. I mind-link Chase who is picking JC up in a matter of just a few moments after my order. She needs to be in the house anyway, and I don't want her to see me in pain even though it looks like she will pass out.

Okay, let's do this.

Got a little bit of writers block with this chapter, but I got it done! I hope you guys like it. Tell me what you think about all that is going on!

xoxo, Makayla
