《The Tracking ✔》Chapter 15-Enemy Ties

The wind in my face, the feeling of dirt beneath my paws, and the pure adrenaline coursing through my veins was all I really every needed. Well with the exception of one thing-Theo.

I've try pushing thoughts of my mate aside, but it's not easy. This is better for the both of us. He can't ever know what power I possess, or what darkness that rest underneath my skin. I have many reasons for that- for wanting to stay away and keep him safe.

I want to keep everyone safe from me. I wonder if Theo is searching for me, but shake the thought away.

Drake followed me through the trees and we arrive at a creek with the spring flowing freely.

Drake gestures for me to have a drink or take a dip in the water. I watch as he slowly goes in the water almost to his belly. I watch him curiously as he bites at the water playfully.

I decide to indulge on the fun too and literally jump into the creek. The water splashes on Drake's wolf and he lets out a snort. I'm thankful my wolf is letting me have control, like she's laying back and enjoying just being in her form. She and I are pretty much the same, she's just a wild and dominant version of me.

We play in the water for a while before I decide to get out and shake the water off my coat. The midnight moon dips beyond the trees, casting a light on me and Drake.

We lay in the grass, relaxing. This is the time I wish I could speak to Drake and tell him everything and get his opinion. If he even gave his opinion I am too set in my ways I probably wouldn't even consider his thoughts.

So, we lay there and I decide to be thankful in this moment and try to forget about the storm that is coming.

Ruby leads me to a back room as another vampire takes over her shift. I'm not scared, but it is a little bit of a bad feeling as I follow her down into the kitchen.

"Just through here." She hums out and we finally walk into what looks like a break room. She walks seductively to the refrigerator and gets out a blood bag. I watch as she drinks it like is a normal drink.

I sit in one of the empty chairs around the circular table. Ruby leans her back against the counter, looking me up and down. "So who is this girl to you?"

My eyes drift to the floor and I can't decide whether to tell her or not. Like I have said, most vampires are friendly. All different species are, but there are always bad in the good. You can't be too careful.

"She's my sister. She's missing." I say, hoping I sound believable. It doesn't really matter if I do or don't, but she may help me. Vampires are always very observant and word travels fast among that species. A new werewolf, or werewolves in town are sure to make conversation.

"Sister?" She asks unbelieving.

"Yes." I say confidently and stress, "She may be in danger. "

"I may have seen her." Ruby gives in and sits in the chair in front of me.

"Where?" I ask. Ruby leans in, giving me another look at her breast that I had no interest in.

"You know what I want first." She says referring to my blood. I should just get up and leave but this is a small price to pay for information.

I get up, probably with a sour look on my face, and go to a drawer and easily find a knife. I slice my index finger and hold it over a foam cup. The blood trickles down and soon the bottom of it is full.

I give Ruby a glance to see her eyes glaze over in red by just seeing my blood trickle down the cup. I grab a napkin and place it over my cut, cutting off the blood flowing.

I hesitantly hand her the cup, and she grabs it quickly. "Thanks."

She turns the cup up and gets all she can get of the blood, which wasn't much.

I sit back down, "Now tell me everything you know." I cross my arms over my chest and keep the napkin pressed against the cut, which heals within the minute.

She licks her lips and the blood trickles down, "Well I first heard from a friend of mine that a girl was in town. A werewolf- in the beginning of her heat. She went to that motel on the news and stayed for that night."

Okay, I gathered that much.

She stopped talking and looked at my finger, "Gonna need some more to tell you more." She grinned, excited to use me for this. I could kill her easily, but if I did there was no way I would get out of this city.

I cut my finger again and take the cup from Ruby. I fill it up a little more this time, "Last time." I mention.

I slide it over to her and she takes her time drinking it. "The girl went under the name Bailey Shrum. She was seen leaving with a guy named Drake."

So she was going by Bailey now, that's information that can be helpful. However, Drake is a surprise. I knew I knew that scent in the motel.

"Drake?" I growl, also recognizing the name. "What do you know about him?"

"He's trouble. He was only in Miami for one week and he created problems between us and the wolves. We are working on solving that issue." She said, for once not trying to sound so seductive or full of herself. She was upset about this. Understandably so since Werewolves and Vampires used to be enemies.

"You're the first friendly werewolf I have encountered in a few days. We used to all get along so well, but that douche wanted to ruin it. For what?"

"What did he do?" I asked, growing a little impatient. I'm ready to leave and track JC down.

"He told the werewolves that we were planning to steal pups for blood." She said disgusted in even saying that. Werewolves are extremely protective of their young. Threats like that are not to be taken lightly.

"And were you?" I asked narrowing my eyes at her.

"Of course not! That would be horrible." She said taking another sip of the blood I generously donated to her. Ironic.

"Do you know where they went?"

"Toward Fort Lauderdale, one of our guys are keeping track of Drake. He will get what's coming to him when we are ready." She said with venom and vengeance in her voice.

Vampire's get pretty butt hurt over accusations. So, this doesn't surprise me that they want to hurt Drake for saying that and creating problems. He was always known to be involved in chaos. Drake was in my pack for three years, with his wife.

I bonded with Drake, he is around my age after all. He was in football with me and the guys. He was a good kid. He met his mate, Lauren through the app. She moved to our pack and from there things spiraled out of control. Drake turned her in, saying she was planning to kill the Alpha and Luna (my mother and father), then kill me.

Lauren denied the accusations and said that Drake was the one who planned it. She was going to tell us, but Drake said he would kill her.

In the end, we found evidence against Lauren and she confessed, but still wanted to drag Drake down with her. My father killed Lauren after she followed with more threats, and we told Drake to leave and never come back.

And he hasn't, but what is he doing with my mate? It just keeps getting worse and worse.
