Bridget Regan as Ruby !

Here is a little look into what Jackie, JC's mom, is thinking!

The trip started once again in the search for my daughter, Jacqueline. I'm worried about her and can't stop thinking about the things I said to her before she left. I guess I didn't take into consideration that she is in so much pain about whatever she was hiding.

If I couldn't had stopped her from running, maybe I could have at least went with her for her own protection. But no, my daughter is out there running around with who knows who in a painful heat and I can't do anything about it.

How could she so stupid to leave the pack grounds knowing good and well her heat was approaching fast? She has put herself in danger. She never liked really training, so what made her think she could protect herself out here?

I feel like I am a little hard on her, mostly because I have no idea on what's going on.

Among lusty wolves, blood thirsty vampires, and twisted witches. She is fresh vulnerable meat.

Allen, Theo, and I are in the car again, driving through Miami. The sun is going down again and we are all tired. Theo twitches his fingers nervously and keeps his eyes on his surroundings. Allen has stayed calm but I still couldn't quite decide if these boys were getting along or not.

"Boys I think we need to settle down somewhere, and get some rest." I suggest and look at the nearest cheap motels or hotels on my phone.

Theo lets out a groan of pain that hits him for the first time in a while. We didn't tell Theo this, but when we first got the headaches and pain, that is usually a sign of betrayal from the she-wolf. It is known as a sign of relief that the girl got once she was in heat. For many generations, that pain has been tied to a unfaithful or rejecting mate.

I want to think that my daughter wouldn't do that, and I also want to think that if Theo says it didn't happen between them then maybe it didn't. But I'm uncertain about a lot of things when it comes to my daughter now.

"I agree. They are probably settling down somewhere for the night as well." Allen says and turns down a road where there is a strip of hotels.

"That's more of a good reason to keep searching. " Theo snaps out of irritation. I didn't blame him for being irritated. He's basically going through the heat too, in a little bit of a different way. It's still painful and stressful for him.

But we needed rest, he needed rest. A FBI Agent should be getting back to us soon about what name JC used at the motel here in Miami. We can trace the debit card she used for the next places she will stay.

"Theo, my friend will let us know where she's at in the morning." Allen says, reading my mind.

Theo growls under his breath and looks out the window thinking. The silence is eerie and I shift in my seat.

"Theo?" I question after a few moments of silence. Allen pulls into a hotel parking area where it says there is vacancies for one-hundred and fifty a night.

"I'm going to go my separate way, I'll be faster by myself." He says unapologetic, but look at us in gratitude.

"Thank you for helping me this far. I'll let you know if I find her."

I smile, "Be careful out there. Watch your back." I wisely say and reach into my purse for an envelope. This seemed like the right thing to do.

"Here is a picture of JC- if you ever need it. I know you want to see each other for the first time in person but it may come in handy."

I walk away from the hotel Allen and Jackie were staying in and felt content for the first time. It was as if I finally had freedom to go to the extra mile to find her. I'm thankful for their help and that they will keep searching, don't get me wrong.

I stuck the envelop deep in my bag, out of sight out of mind. I wanted to look at her, and see her beautiful face.

I should, but my wolf told me he wanted it keep it as traditional as possible. We would potentially go crazy if we seen her. I'm sure tracking your mate isn't a tradition either.

I got my phone out, seeing the percentage thirty percent. I called the one person who could help me out little.

"Dad?" I say as he answered the phone.

"What's going on son?" He asked, concerned.

So, I told him everything. The confusion, uncertainly, and protectiveness I had for her. I tell him about the familiar scent that was with her, and how I know for a fact that he never was with her in that way.

My father was silent the whole conversation as I ranted about how upset and angry I was.

"Remember you didn't even want to find her?" My father inputs. I look to the dark pavement, under the glow of a neon bar sign. I wanted to drink badly.

"Yeah Dad. I know." I stress and the guilt set in.

"Theo, she's scared of something. You should give her some space, she will come back home."

I'm speechless just from what my father told me to do. Let her go until she comes back? What if she doesn't? How the hell am I supposed to stop tracking her? She could stay gone for months, years even.

She can't stay gone for forever.

"How can you say that when you stressed how important it is to go find her before I become Alpha? Better yet, how can you just hand me the position that quickly without even a few more months notice. You gave me a month dad. All do respect, that's just wrong." I paused, waiting for some pedestrians to pass by.

I start again, "And it's wrong to tell me that I should wait for her to come to me. She saw me dad, and she still ran. I have to find her, because she may never come back." I say, feeling doubt in myself even though I remain strong.

"Well done." My father says.

"What?" I asked confused.

"I thought you didn't have the nerve to chew me out for that." He laughs a little. "I'm actually giving you five months before you begin your Alpha Duties. Now, JC on the other had is running away from something that she feels like needs to be avoided. You do not know what that is yet, so that's why I suggested to let her come to you when it is time. However, if you feel like you need to find her then you use everything I taught you to do so."

"Well I don't exactly feel comfortable letting her run around with this male and be in heat." I snapped, even though I appreciate most of what he said.

Five months before I become Alpha was like a burden lifted off my shoulders. I could only do so many things at once.

"I understand son. Trust your gut and go get your girl." He said with authority.

"Yeah, first I need a car. I need you to transfer some more money in my account." I said kinda laughing, I felt bad for spending my father's money but I'll be inheriting it in five months anyway. We aren't struggling as a pack and we're pretty wealthy.

"Sure, but aren't you with some of her people?" He asked.

"I ditched them, I can move faster without them." I say confidently.

"Good thinking." My father compliments.

We end the call and I walk to the nearest coffee shop and decide to get some internal fuel before starting the search again. I need time to think and get my thoughts together.

I walk into the retro themed coffee shop and smelt the combination of donuts and coffee engulfed me. Werewolves love coffee too okay? Even though we can go a long time with endless energy, we love coffee and caffeine.

I sat down at a booth and observe my surroundings. A man and woman sit cuddled up in a corner booth, sharing a milkshake. I label them pretty quickly as humans. To my left, I see a woman working on her computer while drinking a coffee herself. Then walking up to me was a bright red head tall woman in an apron and a smile on her face.

"Hello handsome, welcome to Kitty Cafe and Milkshakes. What can I get for you?" She asks eagerly. She is a beautiful lady and I notice that she is a vampire right off the bat. Her skin is pale and looks like porcelain and her teeth are pearly white. Her name tag read,

She didn't appear to be a threat, just doing her job.

"A large hazelnut coffee please." I give me order. She writes my order down.

"I'll be back in a minute!" She hurries off, and I look out the window. This isn't the first time I have ever met a friendly vampire. They are actually quite common. Most of us just want to live in peace and protect our land and turf. The humans are especially fond of vampires since all of them are beautiful or handsome creatures. They will offer their bodies for blood in return for possibly becoming a vampire or they just love the adrenaline it gives them.

Werewolves are beautiful and handsome creatures too, but you will not find a lot of wolves who will sleep with humans or even someone else who isn't their mate. It just feels wrong to a lot of us.

Sure, I've had a girlfriend or two, but I never slept with them. They were basically someone I could actually experiment on. You know, like practicing for an actual girlfriend? They felt the same as I did. It was just for fun and to speed up the time till we found our mates.

Until one day, I decided I didn't want one. I found out these last couple days it's not that simple. One smell of our mate and you're as good as hooked. JC is the most important thing to me right now, and I haven't even met her yet, nor begin to understand her complicated mind.

"Here you go sugar." Ruby comes over and puts my coffee down softly.

"Thank you." I say taking a drink. She remains standing there and I look up at her questionably.

"So I was thinking that I haven't tasted wolf in a long time, would you be interested in quenching this thirst just a little bit?" She asks innocently and licks her lips. Her teeth extend seductively and she leans over the table, giving me a partial view of her pale breast.

I meet her eyes which were trained on my neck and then looked to my wrist that was still holding my coffee cup. I wasn't offended or disgusted. I've heard through the years that while human blood is fulfilling for vampires, werewolf blood can absolutely intoxicate them and give them a new high human blood never can.

This world is crazy, I know.

"Shouldn't be getting tipsy on the job now should you?" I say watching the lust circle in her eyes.

"Eh. I hate this job. We can go to the back room and you can give me a little bite. I promise I won't take much." She moves closer, placing her fingers closer to mine until they run against my hand that's still on my coffee cup. Her cool fingers trace the back of my hand as she flutters her eye lashes at me.

The situation is funny really, because just in time the door bell rang and in walked two customers, a couple.

"Better go do your job." I say nicely and pull my hand away and lift the coffee to my lips.

She rolls her eyes, but smiles. "I'll be back to collect."
