《The Tracking ✔》Chapter 6- The Chase

Theo
I woke still in my mate's room, tangled in the colors and the fabric that smelled of her. I couldn't sleep, I kept having visions. They were harsher this time, more resilient. The Moon Goddess defiantly made it aware that she wants me to find my mate. The visions can be described as seeing different surroundings but none of it making sense.
I dragged myself out the bed and on que a knock sounded. "Honey, I know you are upset about everything that's going on." A woman's voice said from behind the door.
Let me tell you, I have never been to scared in my life. What is she going to think? Her daughter's missing and I've been spooning myself in her bed for comfort so I can refrain from going after her. Although, after my visions I knew the answer to that. I would go find her, because I wanted this. I just hope she will understand my reasons for never pursuing her, as I can understand why she ran away.
"Let me help you, we will do this together. Alpha Theo is being introduced to some of the single ladies, you don't want them flirting with your man do you?" I smirked at the thought of my mate's mother trying to get my mate jealous of other females.
"JC, I'm coming in. I've already see all of you." Her mother said. I stood still wondering what the hell her mother meant by that. I didn't have time to think because I was watching the knob of the door turn like I was in a horror movie.
I panicked.
Do I impersonate her? Do I pray to the moon goddess she goes away? Do I just open the door and explain to her what's happening? Surely she wont kill me for not going after her daughter.
Damn, I feel like such a douche.
Before I could come up with a good plan the door opened and an older brunette woman stepped in, her eyes immediately going to her daughter's empty bed.
Want to know what I was doing? I was playing a statue game apparently because I didn't breathe, I didn't blink, I couldn't even think as her mother's eyes found her way to mine and stared into my broken soul.
"Theo?" She questioned and crossed her arms over her chest. I could tell she wasn't angry, but instead she was full of worry. "Is she in the bathroom?"

It almost sounded like she was pleading me to tell her, Yes she is fine. Just taking a shower.
I couldn't lie to her. "Ma'am, I followed her scent last night and came in. She wasn't here, I think she ran. She left a note."
I handed her the note that smelt freshly of her.
"Something was wrong with JC when you came, but whatever it is has been wrong with her long before that." The woman said rubbing her temples. "I have no idea why she would have ran."
I let out a sigh. "Her name is JC?" I asked the name registering. It warmed my heart to say her name. It made me feel closer to her. I wanted her more and more the more I learned about her.
"She goes by JC, but her full name is Jacqueline Claire." She said slightly smiling, but grew a little unsettled.
"Why didn't you go after her?"
"I- " I trailed, unsure about what to say. Then something that rang true and didn't sound half as bad as deciding to almost let her leave me completely.
"I love the chase."
I drove down so many roads I'm not even sure I would know how to go back home if I tried. I let my werewolf senses lead me in the path that was the most safe. I ended up in a Miami, 200 miles from home. I wouldn't consider this safe and scolded my wolf for leading me to a highly populated place.
Miami was lit. People laughed, danced, and drank. The music was loud and vibrated you to get in the mood to dance. Sex seemed to linger in the air and a couple drug deals were exchanged on a busy sidewalk.
It was insane, but I was more likely to fit in and not draw too much attention to myself. I decide that I'm satisfied with my destination, but I physically could not go any farther. My wolf told me that we were too far away from Theo.
And my heart hurt.
More than anything it did. I could feel my heat coming on so I needed to go find a cheap hotel and hang out there for a few days to ride it out. I turned the money from my personal debit card and loaded it to a few separate prepaid cards.

Rooms starting at $200 a night !
I rolled my eyes, call that cheap?
I drove into the more under populated part of the city and seen a hotel sign starting at $99 a night. I can't argue with that for Miami. I'll eventually need to relocate to an area where everything is not as expensive.
I park my car, walk through the doors and turn right to the front desk.
"Hello! Welcome to East Side Suites. Do you have a reservation?" The sweet older woman said behind the counter. I shook my head no.
"This was a spur of the moment trip." I laughed awkwardly, " I was hoping to get a room for about 2 nights?"
"One just came available! Room 213, up 2 sets of stairs and on the left. That will be $150.67 dear." She said typing my information into the computer system. I gave her a possible debit card and gave a fake name (Bailey Shrum).
"Do the elevators not work?" I asked since she insinuated I would have to walk up two sets of stairs to my room.
"Oh no. We've had so many people get locked in there. We decided to close it until someone can fix it. You look like a strong girl, you'll make it up those stairs just fine." She said brushing it off and typing more on her keyboard.
I'm a stronger girl than she realizes and not just because I'm werewolf. However, I was sweating profusely now and my skin burned for my mate. I was weaker than I have ever been. Those stairs looked like a challenge more than ever.
I watched the lady, hoping she would just speed up the process so I can be miserable for the next couple of days in my room.
"Here you go dear." She handed me key card.
"We have some snacks down the hall from your room, some ice on the 3rd floor, a gym on this floor, and pool at the top of the hotel." She said telling me the amenities.
"Thanks Ms." I stuttered out, my voice was starting to crack and my stomach contracted. I felt like I could pass out.
"Are you okay?" She asked frantically reaching for her phone. I leaned against the handle bar of my suitcase, gathering myself.
"Yes, of course thank you. I'm just exhausted from driving here from Cali for 3 days straight. I sang to the radio so much I guess it's taking my voice." Which was very untrue. I didn't sing the 5 hours it took me to get here. I defiantly didn't come from Alaska but I played my cards right because she asked me what I assumed she would -
"3 days straight? You must be exhausted! I don't know how that's humanly possible." The woman seemed incredible surprised. The irony of it was hilarious.
"When I have a destination in mind I don't like to stop." I gave a sly smile and she laughed, "So for the next few days I may be MIA, I'm going to get well rested up before my meeting." I say just to let her know basically-
Hey lady, do not disturb me while I am in my heat. I may kill you.
I have never went through a heat before. I know it's agonizing. I know of a girl who met her mate the moment he was dying. She started her heat a couple days later and almost tore herself apart. Maybe it wont get that bad for me.
"Of course. Let me know if there is anything I can do to assist you." She replied understandingly.
I felt my abdomen clinch again and I gritted my teeth. I needed to hall my ass up those stairs to my room before it gets any worse. I pulled the luggage up the steps slowly. My breath seemed to be getting harder than the last.
My back, legs, arms, feet, and neck hurt like I had been hit by a moving vehicle. I could do this though. I could, I know I can.
"Do you need help?" A male voice said behind me. I put my suitcase down on the step and turned around. I was almost ready to tell the man off because I am a strong independent she-wolf and I don't need NO MAN.
The man stood at the bottom of the stairs, muscular, lean and beautiful.
I felt as if I was before an angel who would take this pain away.
A chance.

The Silver Mana - Book 1: Initiate
I used to be a healthy, young guy with a normal life - I had a career planned in professional soccer, a girlfriend, lots of hobbies, and loads of fun. Until the accident. Which changed my life. A few years later I had adjusted to my new reality, adjusted to being in a wheelchair, adjusted to having someone take care of me 24/7. And then the world changed. Old people and kids did not make it. And neither was I supposed to make it. But never count me out. If anything, I am tenacious. This new world was different. People could do magic. And there were monsters. And what about me? I had mana as well, silver mana. Which no one else seemed to have. The only problem was, I did not know what to do with it. Until I really needed to. Author's note: This is the rewrite of Silver Mana. The first bunch of chapters (until I will have caught up to level 2 of the dungeon) should be quite familiar to people that have read the original. There are some changes in content, but the story follows the original fairly closely for at least the first 150-200 pages. Most of the changes are in the writing, and some of the details of how things work. A few of the side characters get a bit more attention too. Some general comments to avoid disappointment: 1. The MC likes to swear. If you object to reading the word "fuck" at least once and usually multiple times each chapter don't read the book. "Fuck" is such a great, allencompassing word... fuck that; what the fuck?; fuck me! Fuck! one word, expressing so many nuances. And, frankly, the people I know that use fuck as a swear word.. they often use it a lot. 2. If you are looking for immediate progression, rapid advancement of the story, etc.... read another book. This one takes a bit. 3. I am NOT Pirateaba (who is writing The Wandering Inn) or anyone close to that level of productivity. If you expect to read 10k words every 3 days, or even just once a week... sorry. I've got a busy life. This is for fun, I have no patreon, paypal, anything, so I write when it is fun and however much is fun. Not more. And sometimes that turns out to be a decent amount, sometimes nothing. I have another book (Marrow) so that complicated things - basically I switch between the two whenever the muse strikes me.

Am I The Only One Who Is Not Forced to Migrate Across Worlds....?
A random isekai adventure might not be random. Underlying conspiracies, not-so-kind world and most importantly two-faced characters. Only time can reveal the flaws of the so-called Migrators! *** I am rewriting the novel. All this time, I have honing my skills as a writer. As my first novel, this novel served as a self-reflection of how much I improved later on. This doesn't have the most unique of plots but as a first novel, I still have some aspirations and memories.

Red Street Daybreak
August Samuel Hatch was born under an inauspicious pattern of stars. It's granted him what is widely considered the most unlucky of inconveniences: becoming host to a powerful but pernicious spirit that will act as his guide and protector--and one day end his life. Sairne is sworn to stand by August's side and, when the fancy strikes her, advise him, all in the service of atoning for a past life she can’t remember having committed a grave enough offense to earn her soul indentureship in the mortal realm. Bound by a celestial contract neither one can negotiate, their fates are all they've ever known. But in a city ruled by religious right and where magic runs deep as bedrock, their search for a missing friend leads them to a dark conspiracy that could transmute the very magic that binds them to their fates, and that might grant them the ultimate choice: do they save the city or save themselves? Cross-posted on Wattpad and Ao3. For fans of fantasy YA story beats if they starred adults instead, 1920s inspired setting, lots of banter, larger cast of characters, somewhat soft magic system. Completed, but being actively edited prior to posting! I'm the only captain on this ship, so mind any errors.
