《The Tracking ✔》Chapter 4 -Faith

After getting introduced to most of the pack, I still had not met my mate. I know she was near, but couldn't quite tell were she was. Her scent lingered in the air, driving my wolf insane.
I'm getting anxious. I've even started to worry that she was a fifteen year old girl who's in bed because it was past her bedtime. I also worried that she was hurt and in the hospital.
I tried to convince myself that this is what I wanted. But I wanted to not met my mate. This was a dream come true that I hadn't met her. Maybe I should go home and tell my father I couldn't find her.
"I got word you will becoming the Alpha of your pack in one month?" The Alpha came and sat down beside me.
I had not thought about it much since I've been obviously distracted, but it's exciting and scary at the same time.
I've wondered why my father was giving the title over to me so fast and without warning. I know I could run the pack without my mate by my side.
"Yes. Very soon it seems."
"Finding your mate matters more than ever now then. You'll need her to be a great leader." He said wisely.
I wanted to argue against everything he just said, but instead nodded.
"Theo, can you explain the birthmark to me that your mate posses?" We are sitting at the camp fire and kept scanning my surroundings waiting for her to make an appearance.
"It was a star symbol with a freckle in the middle of it. She should be a brunette."
The Alpha, who's name I learned was James by the way, looked confused. He seemed to be searching his memories of a girl of that description.

"I don't know who that could be. But tomorrow, I promise we will organize all of the unmated women attend a gathering where you can finally find her." He said patting my shoulder and standing.
"I should be heading in. My wife just informed me she's showing signs of labor." He let known and ran his fingers through his hair. He was nervous.
I stood up and extended my hand, "Good luck sir. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help."
I didn't know he was expecting a child, but then again I haven't really tried speaking to him about that kind of thing. We had discussed safety issues, security, and training mostly.
He had asked a lot about my home life however, which I gave small replies to. I knew he was uncertain about me. He probably thinks I'm sketchy and a potential enemy. But I think the hand and me offering help helped him to see I had good intentions.
As he walks away toward his private house, I see a few girls walking in my direction. I knew none of them is my mate right away. They keep walking closer until one sits down in a seat next to mine and the other's a few chair down.
"Hi I'm Courtney!" The girl to my left extended her hand. I took it shaking softly, "Theo." I answered back with my name.
"So Theo what do you know about your mate?" She asked innocently. I could tell she was mated and wasn't trying to get in my pants by the fresh mark on her neck. I visibly relaxed, but not entirely because I wish this whole mate scenario would just disappear.
"She's a brunette. Her mark is star-shaped with a freckle in the middle." I replied back simply.

Maybe she knew my mate. I swallowed and prepared to have her actually tell me a name.
"Uh nope. None of the girls here have that mark and I know everyone. Maybe it's on her butt cheek or something?" She giggled in the last part.
Courtney looked at the other girls who were waiting patiently for their friend to stop talking to me and join them.
"You had visions though right?" She turned back to me on a serious note. She was concerned for me, I could see it in her eyes.
"Yes." I swallowed, thinking about those visions that damn near take my bearing every time.
"Well the moon goddess is never wrong." She smiled and placed her hands on her knees. That one sentence seemed to hit me hard.
"She has to be here, and you'll find her." She paused and stood up, "I have faith in that."
I gave a smile, "Thank you." I could feel myself almost getting excited to meet my mate, but again it was pushed back down by dread.
The moon goddess is never wrong. There's no escape from destiny. The voice, known as my wolf said to me.
"It was nice meeting you Theo." She said respectfully and bowed her head.
"Likewise." I said softly as she retreated to her friends who she said next to.
Everyone was starting to thin out and go to their rooms, so I decided to go on to mine. I was exhausted after my nerves being on edge all day and the day before.
I walked the marble halls of the pack house almost in a daze. I'm here for two more days, will I meet my mate tomorrow? The next day? Will I ever ?
As I got closer to the room Alpha James assigned me to I was hit with a ravishing intoxicating smell that heightened every sense I had. It was enough to knock my clear out of my body as if I was having a out of body experience. Before, I knew it or stop myself I was walking toward it.
I couldn't stop my feet and my wolf overpowered me to the point he is in control of my human body. Nonetheless, I probably would still go to that smell if I was in complete control.
It is the most desirable thing I've ever felt.
The feeling I was experiencing had to be none other than the feeling when a man is about to meet his mate.
It's happening.
