《Mrs. Maximoff》Sixty-four

"You aren't the kind of person that does these things, what's up? Anything you want to talk about?" Stewart asked as he drove to Oleg Resources.

"Nothing, just wanted to treat my girlfriend since she does so much for me." I spared him the whole thing. I knew I could trust Stewart and I knew he truly cared about me, but I didn't want to bother anyone else, especially on a Sunday. He should be with his family, not driving me somewhere, and even though he always tells me not to worry about it and that I can call him anytime, still, I can't help but feel guilty.

"I can tell something is off, but it's okay. You can come to me whenever you feel like it, you know that, right?"

"Yes, Stew Stew. Thank you."

"I thought you were over the nickname!"

"Never." He stopped right outside of the tall building and opened the door for me.

"Thank you."

"I hope Wanda enjoys whatever it is that you got her, Y/N."

"Oh, she better." He laughed before driving away and I made my way in.

Thankfully there was just Fred at the reception given it was Sunday, he recognized me and let me in. I took the elevator to the last floor and in just a few minutes I was standing in front of my girlfriend's office.

"Hey love, I thought I would bring-" I let myself in the office, knowing that it was lunchtime and that Wanda liked to eat in her office most of the time, but an unfamiliar voice cut me off.

"Hello, I don't think we've met before." I heard a thin British accent. In front of me was a very angry Wanda, and a woman I thought could be slightly older than her. She had long black hair and deep brown eyes, her heels made her even taller than I could tell she was.

"Yeah, I think so too. I'm Y/N Y/L/N, Wanda's..." I stopped before I could say too much. I put the food I was carrying on a little shelf Wanda had in her office.

"She is one of my journalists, Anya." Wanda winked at me, I knew I had to play along. This woman gave off the same vibes as Wanda: a strong woman who was in power. She probably owned a company herself and we couldn't let people this important find out about us, not yet.

"Oh, I see. Well, my sister already did half of the job. I'm Anya, Anya Maximoff. Nice to meet you." She held out her hand for me to shake, which I did.

A sister? Since when did Wanda have a sister?

"Well, I wouldn't go too far now, would I, Anya?" Wanda's tone was flat, and from that, I understood that I had definitely interrupted a heated moment.

What did this woman want? And why did she make Wanda so mad?

"Oh, please, don't act like it isn't true, the DNA tests proved it." The woman pointed at the papers on Wanda's desk.

Wanda looked at me and sighed, she looked as if she could collapse at any time, she was putting on a strong face. This meeting, or whatever it truly was, was destroying her.

Even though I was confused, I knew this wasn't the time to ask questions.

"Tell me, Y/N. Are you good at your job?" Anya asked me, gesturing for me to sit down on a chair.

"She's the bes-"

"I asked Y/N, not you, sister." Wanda scoffed at the woman's words, going back to sitting behind her desk.

I slowly walked up to Anya, who had already taken a seat in front of me, and with extreme calm, I sat down.

"So, do you have an answer?"

"I can't really judge my own work, I don't think I'm capable of doing that. What I can tell you is that I put my heart and soul into every word I write. I am lucky to have this job and I do my best to make sure I keep it." I explained, however, she didn't look satisfied with my answer. "Wanda is also an incredible person and she helps us all to reach our maximum potential whenever we need a little push."

"And how would you describe your colleagues?" She asked again.

Why did she care?

I decided not to ask her why she seemed too interested in what I did.

"They are great. We've developed a good bond and we have each other's backs whenever we need to."

"I see. Thank you, Y/N." Anya stared at me for a few moments before getting up, adjusting her suit and grabbing her bag. "I think we are done here, Wanda. Thank you for your time." She said before walking out.

As soon as the door closed, Wanda's hands went straight in her hair, I had never seen her this stressed. I made my way to her, kneeling down and turning her chair around so she could face me.

"I'm not going to ask you to explain, I can see you're tired. We can talk whenever you feel like doing it. I brought you lunch, you must be hungry." I took her hands into mine, feeling her muscles relax. "You want to eat here or go down to the cafeteria?"

"Here." Wanda whispered and I nodded in response. I kissed her hand and stood up to take the food from the shelf, bringing it to Wanda's desk. She laughed when she saw it was fast food. "You know me well."

"Of course I do, love. Now eat before it gets too cold."

We ate in silence, but as always it wasn't an uncomfortable one. It wasn't even what some people call a loud silence, when you can't hear anything but the other person's thoughts and words. It was just us, sitting down, eating our lunch.

It was Wanda and I and no one else, not anymore.

"Do you have more work to go through or are you free to go?" I asked her once we were done eating.

"We can go."

"Okay then, let's go home."
