《Mrs. Maximoff》Fifty-four

"Baby, will you come into my office, please?" I asked my girlfriend who was on the phone.

"Can't, gotta write. I'll see you later." Y/N flatly replied.

Before I could ask her if something was going on she hung up the phone, leaving me confused.

I decided to leave it, hoping she'd eventually tell me at lunch break if she felt like it.

The rest if my morning wasn't too crazy: I had a few meetings and had to check out some new articles I got sent from my journalists.

When I checked the clock it was finally lunchtime, which meant I would finally see Y/N.

I didn't try to text her throughout the last few hours because I didn't want to bother her, I just let her concentrate on her work.

I went downstairs to the cafeteria and found Y/N sitting at a table with Jules.

She didn't tell me.

She usually always told me when she was down in the cafeteria, but she didn't that day.

Thankfully she was just with Jules, so it wouldn't be weird if any other of my employees were around.

"Y/N?" I called out, catching her attention. She seemed rather focused on whatever thing she was discussing with Jules, and I kind of felt bad for interrupting her.

What if she really just got caught up in writing and I was overthinking?

"Wanda?" She gave me a funny smile and waved her hand. We still weren't public to everyone so we definitely couldn't kiss.

"Jules, do you mind if I steal Y/N from you for just a little bit?" I asked the brunette who gave me a nod.

I gestured for Y/N to follow me into that floor's bathroom where I know we would be alone.

"Are you okay?" I asked her after closing the door behind us.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" She didn't hesitate to respond. I really wanted to believe her, but something was telling me that it didn't stop there.

"You sounded...distant? Also, you always tell me when you're about to have your lunch break and you didn't today."

"I told you, Wanda. I was writing and got lost in it like you know happens to me quite a lot."

"Are you sure nothing is bothering you, my love? You know you can talk to me."

"I'm fine, Wanda. Don't worry." Y/N spoke before going out and walking into the cafeteria.

I was afraid I had done something wrong, what if I said something I shouldn't have?

"Don't panic, Wanda." I thought to myself.

Y/N would have told me if something was bothering her, right? I had nothing to worry about, just like she said.

I decided to eat lunch in my office, I always packed myself something to bring with me.

I took the elevator and found myself at the office in just a couple of minutes.

What Y/N said kept ringing in my head, I couldn't shake it off.

I didn't want to think the worst because I knew that once I did I probably wouldn't be able to come back from it.

It happened to me a lot, going deep down and not being able to return to the surface. Feeling the world crumble under my wobbly legs, my breath picks up the pace, my heart going fast and faster by each second.

I didn't want to feel all of that again.

I had finally found my peace and happiness, and I didn't want to lose it after such little time.

I got through my lunch even though I wasn't very hungry, but I knew that it was important for me to eat since it fuels our bodies to work at their best.

I picked up the phone and called the one person I knew that could help me.

"What's up? Got tired of your little girlfriend so now you're all over me again?"

"Natasha, I've told you many times that you have to stop flirting with me. Will you finally stop doing it?"

"Never, it's too fun."

"And inappropriate."

"Maria's okay with it, you know we could have a-"

"Don't even say that."

"Why not?"

"I am not interested."

"Rude, we are two very hot people."

"I have a girlfriend."

"I don't even care anymore, it's your loss. Anyways, what did you call me for? Did you actually get tired of your girlfriend? Because if you did I'll literally smack-"

"No, Nat. I could never get tired of Y/N. Speaking about Y/N..."

"Here we go again..."

"Every day I wake up and think about how I should actually see a therapist instead of talking to you every time something happens."

"I am offended."

"Good."

"Just say it."

"Okay, so...I feel like Y/N is being distant. I called her this morning and she sounded weird, I guess you could say. I don't know what could possibly be wrong, I don't know if I said anything that could have gotten her upset...I don't know. I tried talking to her during lunch break but she said nothing was wrong."

"But like....how did she say it?"

"She said she got lost in writing, which of course I appreciate because she works for my company, but on the other side of things, the side of life in which I'm her girlfriend...it gets me worried. I want her to feel like she can tell me everything, you know?"

"Yeah, I know. I also know that you're not the kind of person that insists on these things, I know you're patient when you realize that's all you can do, and maybe this is one of those situations, you should just wait."

"I guess, but it worries me, you know?"

"Of course it does, she's your girlfriend and you're always going to worry about her. She worries about you too, but trust me she wouldn't do something to hurt you. If Y/N isn't talking about it it's probably because she needs time to process whatever had happened herself first, then she'll open up. Don't worry Wands, okay?"

"I'll try not to. Thank you, Nat, I love you."

"I love you too Wands."
