《Mrs. Maximoff》Fifty-one

"Wanda! Do you know where my shoes are?" I shouted from across the house. We were both getting ready for our date tonight. Wanda had made a reservation for 8 o'clock, it was 7:30 and I still had to find my shoes.
"The heels?" She shouted back from what I assumed was the living room. Something I learned that day was that Wanda was an incredibly punctual person. She didn't procrastinate or delay getting ready. If she had to do something, she would do it.
"Yeah, the heels!"
"Oh, I have no clue, baby. Do you want me to help you find them?" Wanda walked into the room and started looking around.
"You have no clue?! You were the one who took them off of me last night!"
"You know, I didn't properly see where I threw them, Y/N." Wanda said in a gentle tone, maybe I was overreacting.
"I'm sorry, I just don't want us to be late." I confessed. Wanda opened her arms, gesturing me to get in them.
"We won't be late, sweetheart. Even if we are, I'll just give them an extra tip to give us another table. You know it's always about the money, never the reservations."
Right, I completely forgot she could just do that.
We kept looking around the room but no sign of my heels, so Wanda let me borrow some of hers.
"Why does everything I own look better on you?" She said as she took me in her arms and picked me up, making me spin around.
"Wanda! Wanda put me down!" I shouted, I couldn't keep my laughter in.
"What if I don't?" She teased me.
"I'll get sick and vomit on your floor."
"Right, I'm putting you down."

"Thank you. Shouldn't we go now?"
"Yeah, let's go." Wanda took my hand and we walked out of the house, ready to go to our date.
Wanda kept her hand on my thigh as she drove, I just pretended it didn't actually do anything to me.
After just twenty minutes we arrived at the restaurant, luckily we didn't have to take another table as we arrived at 8 sharp.
"M'lady." Wanda said as she took out to chair so I could sit. "What were you thinking to order?"
"I mean, I don't really know...what are you getting?"
"This place has the best pasta ever, they make it from scratch. I'll order for you, if you want. You just have to trust me."
She definitely knew the place better than I did, so I let her do her thing.
Wanda ordered for us both, and because I didn't know what half of the things she ordered were, when everything came I was rather surprised.
"How are we going to eat all of this?"
"Once you start it just makes you want it even more."
I guessed she was right because once you tasted a meal, the next one was even better.
"See, I told you."
"Okay, no need to be cocky about it."
"Excuse you? What did you just say?"
"Nothing..." Wanda left it and just went to pay the bill, even though I told her I could handle my part she insisted she wanted to pay, because she was the one who took me on a date.
"Let's go, I wanna take you somewhere else." Wanda took my hand and dragged me out of the restaurant.
"Where?"
"Does it look like I'm gonna tell you?"
"Right..."
Wanda kept silent for the whole ride, I saw her smile get wider and wider as we got closer to whoever she was taking me, so I guessed it was important to her.

"Here." Wanda opened the door for me, but our surroundings left me confused.
"Why are we here?"
There was nothing, it was slightly elevated, but the rest of it was just grass.
Wanda gestured for me to sit down, there was a beautiful view of the night sky, though.
"I bought this space. I started coming here when I was in my last year of high school. I had a lot of pressure on my back, my parents weren't really happy with the choice I had made for college..." Wanda started, her head leaning down. "So I changed colleges. I chose the one with the best business program and I went there. That was what I needed, I knew someday I would have to take over for my dad. Coming here helped my mind clear."
"What did you want to do before that?" I asked. I saw her sigh and look up, smiling as she admired the stars.
"Funny enough, I wanted to be a journalist, maybe a writer. Everything that could make me express who I really was, was fine with me. That's why I changed almost everything at Oleg Resources. It needed some changes, to be mine, in some way." She admitted. I wrapped my arms around her and she gently caressed them with her fingers.
"I can see you doing that." Wanda looked up at me as soon as I pronounced the words.
"Really?"
"Yeah. You're well-spoken, you're passionate, you're consistent...you have it all." I truthfully said.
"What about you? Is being a journalist the goal you aspired to reach?"
I briefly laughed, thinking about it.
Was it? I always wanted to be an author, a New York Times best-selling author, that was the dream.
But did I see myself reaching that?
After all I had gotten in my life thanks to this job, would I ever have the courage to leave it?
"New York Times best-selling author. I wrote stories on little handmade notebooks when I was little. I would just take a bunch of paper and use tape to keep it together." I chuckled at the memory, each notebook would contain a different story, and my mom would threaten to throw them all away if I didn't put them somewhere they wouldn't make my room look like a mess.
"You have stories in your eyes, Y/N. It doesn't surprise me you want to do that." Wanda spoke. "You know, I could see what I can do about making that dream of yours become true."
Her words left me speechless. Was she really willing to do something like that?
Something like that for me.
"You don't have to, love. I like working as a journalist." I admitted. If I hadn't gotten this job my life would be so different, and just the thought of it gave me goosebumps.
"You should follow your dream, Y/N."
"You should follow yours too, Wanda."
"I didn't have a choice back then, you do."
"Let's think about that another time, yeah?" She nodded at me and we just sat there admiring the view for a while, until it got late and we both wanted to go home.
"Wanda?" I called out as soon as we sat in the car.
"Yeah?"
"You said you bought this, but why?"
"Well, there are several reasons, the first one is that I'm highly attached to it. The second one, I can't tell."
"Why?"
"I'm a little superstitious."
