《Mrs. Maximoff》Forty-one

It was the weekend now, and it was finally time to do something I had been planning for a couple of days.
It was nearing ten, so it was the perfect time to put this into action, I was just hoping she wasn't asleep yet.
I picked up my phone and dialed her number, listening to it ring for a few moments before I heard her angelic voice.
"Wanda, hey. Everything okay?"
"Yeah, I was just wondering if you're available right now?"
"Available? Am I an object or what?"
"Oh, shut up. Are you busy right now?"
"Nope, not at all."
"Okay, perfect. I'll be at yours in fifteen. Go get ready."
"Fifteen?!"
"Yeah, is there a problem? Should I be there sooner?"
"No...fifteen works just fine."
"Great, I'll see you in a bit!"
I hung up and sprinted to my room to pick out an outfit for the night, it was quite cold so I would have to do some layers.
I settled on black jeans, a white shirt with a baby blue sweater on top and a black coat, white shoes to finish the outfit.
I took my bag, keys and phone before heading out.
It took me precisely ten minutes to arrive since the roads were starting to empty, and as soon as I stopped my car I saw Y/N walking out.
"Hey, you ready to go?" I rolled my windows down and asked, Y/N nodded and she got it.
Y/N was wearing a white collared shirt with a black sweater on top, high-waisted jeans and black boots.
It was simple, yet she managed to look beautiful with everything.
"Did you wear this outfit with the purpose of making me look like a drowned rat?" Y/N looked confused, as if she had taken my words a little too seriously.
"Wh-"
"No, come on, tell me." I joked around and saw her laugh as soon as she realized I wasn't being serious.

"You don't look like a drowned rat...you look like the exact opposite." She stated.
"So...like a non-drowned rat?"
"Shut it!" She playfully slapped me, making me burst out laughing.
"It's funny. You're funny." I admitted, Y/N turned to me and looked shocked.
"I'm funny? I'm a victim of your childish behavior."
"I am a CEO, watch your mouth."
"Oh? What happened to "I'd like to be just Wanda to you"? Huh?" She mocked what I told her a couple of days ago.
"Don't you dare..."
"Or what?" She teased.
I decided against using words, glaring at her and starting the car.
Despite bugging me about where we were going, I succeeded in not telling Y/N any details about it.
It had to be a surprise.
It wasn't much, it was just another gesture to show her that I cared and that I was in this, for real.
I parked the car in the little parking spot near the house and gestured for Y/N to wait for me outside while I grabbed a few things we would need.
We had this lake house we used when Pietro and I were kids, we would come up here every Christmas and have the time of our lives. We haven't been here for a long time, and surely nobody will be here after what happened to my dad.
"So...I got a blanket, some food, water...do you think we need anything else?" I asked her, but then remembered I didn't even tell her what we were doing.
Great Wanda, just great.
"Right..." I started as I positioned the blanket on the grass near the shore, laying down as Y/N did the same.
"Have you ever stargazed?"
She looked at me weirdly before smiling and shaking her head.
"What?! You never stargazed?"
"Never had someone to do it with. I always thought it was such a romantic gesture, so doing it alone would feel...strange." She admitted, making my heart skip a beat.

"So...I'm a romantic to you now?"
"Pretty much, yeah." She laughed. "This is beautiful, by the way. Thank you for bringing me here."
"Of course." I responded and without realizing what I was doing, I wrapped my arms around her.
"Shit, sorry!" I sat up as soon as I realized, I would have never done that on purpose, it just came to me naturally.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that." I muttered and saw Y/N sit up too.
"It's okay, you don't have to apologize. You aren't overstepping, I would have told you if you were. You can do that." She reassured me and gestured to lay back down again.
"Are you okay with telling people about this?" I heard her ask while I caressed her.
"Are you?"
"I just don't want people to think I'm taking advantage of you for work or anything. You never know what people might think." She continued while we both looked at the sky.
The stars were shining bright, it was perfect.
"I know you would never. If you want to tell people then I'm okay with that, I just have to let you know that I'll have to tell Natasha and the rest of the group, or otherwise they'll murder me." I joked, thinking about my friends that yet had to meet Y/N.
"Rest of the group?"
"Yeah, you'll meet them, if you want to of course."
"I'm okay with that. I guess I'll start by telling Morgan and Jules, the same goes for them."
"I'm fine with whatever you feel it's best. Let's take this as it comes." I kissed her forehead and kept looking at the sky.
"There's one more thing I have to ask you. Is that okay?" She asked me softly.
"Yeah, of course."
"Why was it so sudden?" Y/N spoke.
"What was?"
"One day you're telling me to not be a brat and the other you get me flowers...why?"
"I was very sorry about how I made you feel, and I know that I told you I wasn't sorry about how I acted, I actually was and I still am."
"It's okay."
"No, it isn't." My voice was firm. Thinking about our previous experiences made me feel upset with myself. "I knew there was...something about you as soon as I laid my eyes on you. It's clichè, I know, but it's true: when you know, you know. I was keeping myself from caring about you, so I tried to act how I do around other people, but it became harder and harder. I decided to let go, to see how things went, if I could let you in, if you were good for me, and you were. You still are. I fully realized it when you told me you weren't going to write the article. It was scary, but I decided to not let that stop me. All the people I've known in my life would have filled that piece of paper without me even asking them, but I asked you and you didn't. You care for the people around you." Her eyes started to get watery, she let me wipe a tear on her cheek once it feel.
"So...it was kinda like a test?" She laughed.
"I asked you because I believe in you, but if you wanna look at it that way..."
"So it was a test and I passed, right?"
"You definitely got an A." I chuckled before leaning in to kiss her.
I was happy, she was happy.
We were happy, like it always was supposed to be.
