《Mrs. Maximoff》Thirty-five

Going home right now! Thank you for coming by these past few days. Hope to see you at work soon!

As soon as I looked at my phone's screen light up and read the message, I knew I had to arrange something.

What I understood during these past days was how it feels to be so dedicated to someone.

Not something. Someone.

Not work, not hobbies, not any of that stuff.

Being dedicated to someone is a whole other thing, it feels different.

It's giving something and receiving something back.

It's not a piece of paper, it's a smile, a sentence, or even getting back all the dedication you put into making that one person happy.

Was I expecting Y/N to give me all of it back? No, I wasn't. Not right now.

It has to be about her now, it has to be about showing her everything I can so that we can become what we want, together.

I never thought I'd say things like these, but I think that I'm finally starting to get how this "feelings" thing works.

I thought that communication was all it took to fix things, but it isn't.

If you tell someone you're sorry for something you did and then do nothing to show them that you mean it, then why would you even do it in the first place?

I had no idea what I wanted to do for Y/N, but I had to figure it out fast.

That was when it clicked in my brain, but I needed help to make sure I could do what I wanted.

So I picked up my phone and called the one person I knew would help me with everything and get that settled down.

It took me a couple of minutes to be sure I told them exactly what I wanted but I was sure of it once I did, I just hoped Y/N would like it.

Y/N was probably already at home and surely people were there to visit her, so even though I wanted to see her as soon as I could, I convinced myself to wait so that it could be done nicely.

Since Y/N seemed to appreciate what I cooked for her, I decided to do it one more time, and it probably wasn't going to be the last.

I put my apron and again, got everything that I needed out, but realized I was missing one crucial thing.

Food coloring.

"Fuck!" I exclaimed, taking off my apron so that I could put on a coat instead and got ready to take a trip to the grocery store.

"Why did I think I had food coloring at home?" I mentally cursed myself and put on the comfiest shoes I owned.

I made sure to get my bag, phone, and keys before I left and got in the car.

Thankfully it wasn't a long drive, so I managed to get there in under ten minutes.

I had to walk through each and every department multiple times before I actually found the food coloring that I needed, I got it in different colors so that hopefully it would make everything look even better.

Ready to go to the cashier, I recognized a familiar face just in front of me.

"Mrs. Y/L/N?" I made my presence known and the woman immediately shifted her gaze to me.

"Mrs. Maximoff! How nice to see you again. I was just buying some groceries for Y/N and Morgan's apartment. Y/N got discharged today, I guess she already told you." She explained.

"Of course she has, I'll come to visit her one of these days, I want her to rest as much as possible, you know? I was here because I ran out of..." I looked at all the food coloring in my hands and I knew that I had to come up with something and do it quick. "I like to bake, food coloring makes everything look better."

Maybe telling her I was about to bake for her daughter wasn't the best idea.

"Oh, how surprising! I didn't picture you as that kind of person, but now that you told me I can see it." She said and I just smiled at her. "Well dear, I have to go now, it was a pleasure talking to you again." She continued and just as I thought she was done, she got closer to me and spoke up again. "She really likes you."

Of course her mom knows about me now.

"I really like her too." I told the truth. I could see that she had a strong bond with her daughter, so if anything ever happened between me and Y/N, I had to be on her good side.

She nodded at me and left.

I paid for everything and ran out of the store to go home.

As soon as I sat in my car I heard my phone ring, and the notification made me smile.

I got it.

You're a lifesaver Nat. Thank you so much.

Anytime, now go get your girl!

I started driving back home and immediately put myself to work as soon as I got there.

I decided to make chocolate chip cookies using my own recipe that I came up with a few years ago.

The secret to it? Extra chocolate chips.

I gave each one of them a different shape using a knife to cut the dough and put everything in the oven.

While that baked I started on the frosting that I would have to put in various bowls so that I could make it of different colors.

I had this in the bag.

Do you have any visitors tonight?

Not that I know of. Morgan is also leaving with Jules on some shitty couple trip they have been wanting to go on. Maybe I should have agreed with them when they offered to stay and wait to take it.

I'm alone. Like, alone, alone.

Don't worry, I'm sure more people will come visit you tonight.

Oh, I ran into your mom at the grocery store before!

If she said anything about me it isn't true.

Should I know something?

Nope. Not at all.

Whatever.
