《Mrs. Maximoff》Twenty-nine

"Y/N was involved in a car crash, she just got out of surgery, the doctors said she will be fine but she hasn't woken up yet. I know everything that happened between you two and yes, I know you haven't been talking but I know you still care, you both do. You need to come here right now."

I froze.

I tried to let my mind process what I had just heard, but it wasn't working.

"What? What did you just say?"

I couldn't lose her.

"Y/N was involved in a car crash, she-"

"I'm coming right now."

I hung up the call and immediately got out of bed, threw on the first things I found and took my car.

I couldn't possibly let our fight be the last words she heard from me.

I couldn't leave her with the thought of me basically screaming at her.

I tried going as fast as I could while still being safe, but it was getting more and more frustrating with each second that went by.

I needed to see her, to tell her I was sorry, that I didn't mean all of those things.

We were never just work partners.

There was something and I needed it to come back, I longed for it.

It couldn't end with me being Mrs. Maximoff and her just one of the new journalists, there was more to that.

There was Y/N, the woman whose resume left me shocked.

The woman to whom I gave flowers, took on a work trip with me.

The woman I talked to my best friend about.

I passed a red light, but I honestly didn't even care anymore.

I got to the hospital and immediately asked for her room, which they told me was number 37.

I uses to map to check were it was and so I found myself on the second floor.

As soon as I got up the stairs I saw a group of people sitting at the floor's waiting room, I recognized Jules and who seemed to be...Ari?

"Where is she? Is she okay?" I asked as I walked toward everyone, also recognizing Morgan. There were three more people I didn't recognize, they probably were family.

"She still hasn't woken up." Jules' voice was emotionless and she sounded like she had been crying, of course she had been.

"Oh my gosh..." My breath started to fasten as I tried to talk.

No.

Not here, Wanda.

You haven't had one in years.

"I need to get some fresh air." I managed to get out although I was almost out of breath, that was why I took the elevator which thankfully was here so I didn't have to wait.

I sprinted outside, feeling the night breeze in my lungs, making everything a little better.

My hands were now on my knees while I tried to take deep breaths to calm down.

I needed Natasha, she was the one that calmed me during my panic attacks but she wasn't here, I needed to learn how to help myself because that's the only person I'm sure I'm gonna have to live forever with.

"Come on Wanda, come on." I thought, and even though it helped a little, I had a long way to go.

"Y/N?"

"Y/N? Breathe with me, come on."

"You can do it, Y/N. You're going to be okay, you're safe. Here, you want to hold my hand?"

"Take deep breaths Y/N, come on, follow me."

"Y/N, are you okay?"

"Y/N, look at me."

The memories of the last time something like this happened replayed in my head, only that it was her being in pain.

This time, we both were.

The only difference was that she was lying down on a bed, asleep.

I kept thinking of that moment over and over, and eventually, my breath got steady again.

I inhaled the fresh air for a few more seconds before turning back to go in.

I heard someone's footsteps approaching me, and that was when I was met with Y/N's best friend.

"Morgan, hey."

"Hi, Wanda. How are you?" Their voice was groggy, they too had been crying, and a lot.

"That's something I should ask, Morgan. You're her best friend, I can't even begin to imagine what you're feeling right now."

They let out a sharp breath. "I feel terrible, I'm scared. But I know that she'll get through it, she's Y/N after all, she's strong." Morgan told me, looking at the ground. "However, I asked you because I know you regret everything you said last time you two talked."

"You read my mind, Stark. You're just like your dad."

"So I've been told." Morgan chuckled and gestured for me to sit on one of the benches that were just outside of the hospital.

We were silent for a little bit, but I knew I had to break it.

"I just wanted to protect her. I knew it was becoming more than just working together...I didn't want to hurt her." I started but had a few more things to add. "The day of the conference, I saw how uncomfortable the paparazzi made her, how she felt like she didn't belong there. Being with me would mean putting up with those things on a daily basis. Plus...I'm so going to regret telling you this..."

Morgan gave me a confused look, asking for an explanation.

"You're going to make fun of me."

"I won't."

"You're Tony Stark's kid, you are going to make fun of me."

"I won't!"

"I have never been in a relationship, I just don't know how it works." I turned my head to face Morgan and I saw them slightly chuckle.

"I knew it!"

"I'm sorry, I just find it hard to believe that you, Wanda Maximoff, have never been in a relationship. Women throw themselves at you."

"Well, believe it or not, I never have been in one." And here it goes, I'm getting personal. "I always thought I was too much to deal with, because I am. My family is a mess, I am a mess. I can't live with my own feelings. I can't pass these things onto someone else."

"Y/N wouldn't care, you know that."

"Because she's good, she's kind, she's pure. She wouldn't think about the fact that it could hurt her, she would probably hate me if I added more to her own things.

"You already hurt her, but she doesn't hate you. She misses you, and I know that because it's like I'm a part of her, like she is a part of me. This whole thing with Ari...she can tell me she likes her and all, I'm happy if she is, but I know that she's missing something. She went for the easy thing, but Y/N doesn't do easy, not the Y/N I know. She might fool herself into thinking this is what's best for her, but we know it's not."

I focused on all of their words, but there were some that caught my attention.

"Ari? What thing Ari? Are they together? I mean, I saw them being cozy at the party but I didn't think it happened so soon..."

"Y/N and Ari? No, no...they just went on a date earlier."

Earlier?

"As in tonight?" I asked.

"Yeah. When Ari cal-

"Ari was driving the car?!" I shot up from the bench and ran into the hospital.

"Wanda, wait!"
