《Daevas ✔️》Chapter 5.2: Marks

The way Freir silently stared at Rein made the tension in the room become deafening. Rein continued to look downward as Freir walked over to him grabbing his chin in his hand. Would he hurt him? Ari stopped himself from going over there just as his foot moved in their direction. Freir would never cause him physical harm because he was irate him with. It was between the two of them and Ari had not much to say on the matter.
"I am sure that thing has taken quite a liking to you," Freir hissed causing Rein to move his head from his grip.
"What does it matter if he did? It means nothing."
"Nothing?" Freir questioned.
"Nothing."
They stared at one another before Freir's eyes narrowed into tiny little slits.
It was late and Ari wanted to sleep, but he could not with their noise and the tension cutting through the air. He eyed the door, for a moment, just as he saw Rein trying to take Freir's hand in his, but Freir moved it away.
"You see a pretty face and nothing else seems to matter."
Rein's eyebrows furrowed causing Ari to bite on the inside of his cheek. Jealousy was not a pretty thing to see among lovers. He looked back at Freir's angry expression and sighed. He had given him the same expression many times when he was younger and when he did something he disapproved of. It always made him feel like less than nothing. If he felt like that, Ari could hardly comprehend what Rein was feeling.
His face was clear of hair, for once, which made Ari notice his darkening expression much more than any time before. He had hazel eyes? Ari never realized it before. He could never look him in the eyes much when he was younger because he was so intimidating. Looking at him now, he wore the same expression of a child being scolded. His brown skin was flushed red and his lips were tightly drawn.
"... That is not it, Freir," Rein mumbled but Freir only scoffed.
"I do not care."
"Freir."
"Do what you want."
Rein grabbed his arm and tugged him back towards himself. He was smaller than Freir, but he had similar strength, Ari realized.
"You are jealous, admit it. Once you do, let it go. I want no other but you. It has only ever been you, and it will always be you, so stop with this nonsense." Rein traced his thumb down the scar on Freir's face causing Ari to look away. He eyed the door again and headed out this time.
It was quiet outside the room and had air that he could breathe in. He went outside and exhaled loudly. He did not want to be like that. He did not want to become like that. Although Freir was showing nothing but anger, he was hurt. Ari heard it through his voice. Why would he ever want to become so close to someone that they could hurt him with something as simple as becoming friendly with someone else? No, Freir was right. He did not want to become like him.

He journeyed further into the forest wanting to clear his head and be away from demons and humans alike. His mind was growing hazy and filling with confusion. He needed to clear his mind of the mess of things going on. More importantly, he needed to figure out if his feelings for Auovin was the same kind of feelings Rein and Freir had for one another. He hoped it was not it. That is was just something that happened and would fade away with time. Auovin captivated him and caused his curious mind to venture closer and closer to the edge of sin.
As soon as he spotted steam rising from the clearing up ahead, Ari brought his shirt up to his head and stopped suddenly. A pair of eyes bore into his chest causing him to pull it back down and look at Auovin with wide eyes.
"Do not be so coy. I have seen it all already," Auovin smiled and laid his head down on a rock. The wind was frigid and chilled him the longer he stood there. "I do not mind you seeing all of me," Auovin finished.
Ari ached for a hot bath, but not with the demon in there. He walked closer still and eyed him with the resolve to not be swayed by him.
"You seemed to have been in here for awhile."
"Your point?"
"Can you leave?"
"Why should I?"
"Because I asked you to."
"And because you asked I must do?"
Ari pursed his lips and muscled down the distaste of his defeat. The demon had a way with words.
"Come join me. I will share." He took Ari's hand in his and brought him down closer. "I am in need of company."
Ari tried to keep his eyes trained on his but they lowered to his lips and collarbones down to his chest. It felt wrong but he could not help it. The steam from the water made his face warm and burn with heat. He was tempting him again and Ari hardly had the resolve to resist something so appealing. He looked away, for a moment, before taking off his shoes and socks not bothering with his pants. Before he could take off his shirt, Auovin pulled him into the water and pressed him up against his chest as he laughed. Ari clung onto him so tight his nails bit into his skin.
"I did not know you could not swim," Auovin said.
He was deathly afraid of deep bodies of water and he did not know how deep that pool of water went.
"I am sorry, Ari. I will not let you drown. Let go of me."
Ari loosened his grip not wanting to accept that lazy kind of an apology, but he was without another choice. He was already in the water and his clothes were soaked. Being cold was another thing he hated. Leaving now would leave him cold and angry. Auovin took his arms from around his neck and brought him back to the edge of the water. Ari did not look at him even once. He felt warm wind blowing on the back of his neck which made him turn his head slightly and see Auovin.

"I have not teased you in quite awhile. Forgive me." Blood ran down his neck and into the water. It made Ari's glare lessen, but no more than that. He was attractive as he was alluring and it daunted him why he could not resist his grins or smiles. Just the way he would look at him made his heart warm and ache for his lips to be pressed onto his. Ari dragged a thumb across his bottom lip and furrowed his brows. Just as he was turning his head Auovin laid his head in his direction causing his eyes to soften and his mind to fill with thoughts him.
"You are quite cute when you are angry."
Ari turned his head in the other direction.
"Shall I tell you about this... " His hand trailed up his back moving his shirt up as he did. "... to make it up to you?" Ari was much more focused on where his hands touched instead of his words. Before he realized it, Auovin had his shirt above his head and took it down his arms.
"... The marks... on my back... "Ari mumbled.
"It is a gift, of sorts, left by our parents. Many of us were too young or are too old to even remember them." Ari looked up at Auovin taking in his eyes and drenched hair. He followed some drops of water down his neck before looking back up to meet his eyes. Why was his mind becoming like this?
"Each year on the day we were born, a new mark will appear and etch onto our skin. It hurts, does it not?" Ari nodded. "Humans know that much and that is where it ends... "He shuddered as it trailed further down causing him to press more into the rocks. "It also tells us who we are... and what blood runs through our veins. It can unlock things humans had hidden away from the world with the help of our ancestors."
Ari could barely listen any longer. He only heard the sound of his voice and feel of his fingertips brushing against his skin and nothing else. He felt his lips on his ear and going down his neck. His hands trailed lower down his back and onto his hips. Ari turned around at the feel of his hands going through his pants. Hot lips pressed onto his causing him to sink more into the water. He steadied himself with one arm wrapped around his neck bringing him as close to him as he could get. Ari had never desired something as bad as he wanted him. It made his body grow hotter at the thought.
Ari grabbed a handful of his black hair as he pressed his body against Auovin's. His skin was hot and slick with water. The little bit of breath he had left, Auovin stole away once his lips pressed up onto his. Ari's hands slowly fell away from his hair and down to his sides clutching at his skin as he deepened it a little more. If he was still talking, Ari had silenced him long ago.
As if finally noticing what he had done, Ari separated from him with furrowed brows and swollen lips. His throat was dry and his urge to have something black and viscid would not go away no matter how hard he tried to suppress it.
"They fed you very little to keep you the way they had kept you all these years even after bleeding me like a pig." Auovin thumbed his lip before looking back up at him. He turned his head after a moment causing Ari's eyes to go from his down to his neck. "Go on."
Ari swallowed as Auovin grinned. He wanted it, but not all the things you want were good. Though that thought crossed his mind, Ari had sank his teeth into his neck long before he could think much more of it. His body was warm, but his blood was hot and thick with passion. He sank his teeth in more causing Auovin to hiss. He could not help it. He wanted more and more and more. It made his mind go blank.
When he woke, he found himself on a bed back inside the cabin. His eyes were heavy and his heart was beating through his ears.
"He had taken too much from you... " he heard Cyrus say.
"As we all do when it is the first time. I had nearly killed you once before, remember?" Auovin said.
His entire body felt heavy as he tried to move. They were silent, for a moment, before Cyrus said something.
"You are healing."
"I am fine, pet. I thought he would want yours before mine, but it seems as though I was right. He likes passion as much as I like pain." Ari could feel Cyrus' eyes on him. He had no shirt on, so he could feel them boring into his back. "Be kind to him. You are full of passion as he is with kindness."
Ari heard footsteps and a door open before it shut. He felt a hand go through his hair and a kiss on his cheek causing his eyelashes to flutter. Auovin kissed between his brows and smiled onto his skin.
"You are quite cute and quite appealing, Little Ari. There is no need to worry."
Ari opened up his eyes full of surprise that he had overheard him speaking with Freir. It made his face flush with color.
"So much so that I want to eat you whenever I see you looking at me with the same expression." His thumb went down his lips. "How tempting you are."
Ari stared at him seeming to drown in his gaze causing Auovin to grin.
"How daring of you to tempt the devil himself."
