"Maybe we can get away with only telling Anthony and your mother, do you think that is possible?" Madeleine asked as Benedict carried her bags to the carriage.

Benedict once again refused to let her lift a finger during the pregnancy, but this time she complied. She was willing to do absolutely anything to ensure this baby was okay. He chuckled softly as he got into the carriage beside her.

"I would say it is a very slim possibility. Eloise is quite nosy as is, and Daphne just simply seems to somehow know everything that happens. Colin, we could definitely keep it from. He is rather oblivious." Madeleine laughed at this and nodded in agreement.

"It will be quite nice to be back in London for the sake of convenience. The poor doctor has to travel an hour each way when he comes to see us." She sighed, looking up at him. He nodded, placing his hand on her thigh.

"We could start by only telling Mother and Anthony, and if Eloise and Daphne find out, I will ensure they keep it to themselves. I think it will do us both good to be back at home, hm?" He pressed a kiss to her forehead and she smiled, nodding.

Madeleine bit her lip nervously as the carriage pulled up to the Bridgerton House an hour later. Benedict helped her out, grabbing their bags and following her inside. Anthony met the two at the door, having received word from Benedict that they were coming to visit.

"Anthony!" Madeleine smiled, hugging him. He grinned and returned the hug, squeezing her tightly. Anthony had always had quite the soft spot for Madeleine, having grown up with her as well. The two brothers greeted each other with a hug and Anthony closed the door behind them.

"I told Mother that you have something private to speak to us about, she is upstairs in the drawing room." Anthony started up the stairs, the two following him. Violet stood up as they came in, smiling brightly.

"Oh hello, you two. It is so good to see you." She beamed, hugging them both. Once all of the greetings were out of the way, the four sat across from each other on the settees.

"So, what is this news that only the two of us could know of?" Violet narrowed her eyebrows in curiosity. Madeleine bit her lip, looking at Benedict before turning back to the other two.

"I am pregnant again." She stated, continuing before the two could even react. "Given what happened the first time, we are both rather apprehensive. We are attempting to be excited about it whilst also mentally preparing for what may happen." There was a twinge of sadness in her voice and Violet frowned.

"We wish to keep it a secret as much as possible until we are certain that the baby is okay. One of the hardest parts about what happened was having to answer to people about it." Benedict added, his tone serious.

"I completely understand that, I do. But I can not help but notice that you two do not seem very happy about this." Violet noted, a concerned look in her eyes. Madeleine sighed softly and nodded, taking Benedict's hand.

"We are happy about it, truly we are. We are just.. Well, we are terrified to say it simply." Her gaze was worried as she said it, and Violet sighed.

"You two have every right to feel scared, dearest. But a child is a blessing, you should not let fear keep you from feeling happy about this." Violet stated, giving them a sad smile. Anthony nodded in agreement, he hated to see the two so fearful about something they had been waiting so long for.

Nevertheless, both agreed to keep it between them as best they could. All four knew that there was a good chance the rest of the family would find out, what with the close living quarters and the frequent doctor visits. Still, they agreed to keep it a secret for as long as they could for Madeleine and Benedict's sake.

Violet could not help but get excited, though, and soon enough her excitement began to rub off on the couple. They set up the nursery once again, smiling as they looked through the stuff they had bought the first time around.

Day by day, their fear began to dissipate. By three weeks in, Madeleine was having the nightmare much less frequently, if at all. They discussed baby names, they finished the nursery, and they even went to the market to pick out children's books and toys for the little one.

Madeleine's heart felt warmer as the days went on, surrounded by the love and support of their family. For the first time in a long while, she felt as though everything would be perfectly fine.
