《STAND BY ME ⟦ BRIDGERTON ⟧》VII. WINDOWS & LAWNS

CHAPTER 7. WINDOWS AND LAWNS
Dearest gentle reader, it is often said that those who marry in haste must repent at leisure, a sentiment that is clearly shared by Miss Daphne Bridgerton, who has apparently rejected not one, not two, but three proposals already this week. Some believe she is showing admirable forethought in her deliberations, but I would venture a different conjecture, that she, like this author, is still waiting on the only suitor of note.
Duke will propose to Daphne soon enough." I say, as Mister Barnes and I promenade along the lake. "Everyone believes she is in love."
"Do you not agree?" He questions me.
"At first, I was a little wary." I answer. "But now it seems, as if they were both made for each other."
"Do you believe in that sort of thing?" He asks, and I laugh.
"I believe, I never spared it much thought." I tell him, honestly.
"Then why did you say it?" He replies, smiling.
"It is a saying, Mister Barnes." I tell him, laughing. "You must not take everything so literal."
"I am not taking things literal, Miss Bridgerton." He tells me. "I just merely want to know, why would you use a saying you do not believe in."
"I never said, I do not believe in it." I reply, with a smile. "I only said, I do not know, if I believe in it."
He turns me, grinning, and sighs.
"It seems as though, you emerge victorious in this argument." He says.
"And, hopefully, Mister Barnes, I will continue to do so, in similar future arguments." I reply.
"I do promise you, Miss Bridgerton, I will not make it easy for you." He tells me.

thought about with whom you would like to dance at tonight's ball?" Mama asks.
"I have some ideas." I tell her, being as vague as possible.
"Lord Weaver is a fine dancer." Daphne tells us, as Benedict puts a pillow on my shoulder, and lays his head on it. I try to swat him away, because he was disturbing my writing, but he, in turn swats my hand away.
I sigh angrily, and he gives me a victorious smirk.
"Lord Hardy was asking about you at White's last night, Daphne." Anthony tells her.
"Lord Hardy?" Daphne asks, delighted, as she sits down next to Benedict.
"What about the Duke?" Mama asks her.
"The Duke has not proposed, Mama." Daphne tells her. "I am still considering my best course.
"Wise girl." Anthony interjects.
"And Lord Hardy is a fine option." Daphne tells him.
"I suppose, but is he not rather boastful." I ask her.
"My dears, why ever do you complicate matters so?" Mama asks us. "You must simply marry the man who feels like your dearest friend."
"Is that it, Mama?" Daphne asks, sarcastically.
"Yes, how very simple indeed!" I add.
"Yes, quite." Mama tells us, nodding her head.
ever leave London behind, Miss Bridgerton?" Mister Barnes asks me, as we dance.
"I suppose for travelling a little bit, but I would very much like to stay here in London, have a house with big window, and a large lawn." I answer.
"I do believe you hold a fascination for open spaces." He replies. "The lights in the garden, big windows, and lawn."
"And I would love to have a considerable sized balcony." I add, with a smirk.
"Should you also wish to not have a roof?" He asks, amused. "So that you could look at the stars as you fall asleep."

"I absolutely adore the idea." I joke. "But I do believe, it would be a rather horrendous mess during the rainy seasons."
Our conversation gets interrupted by mummers, and we turn to see The Queen, accompanied by the Prince of Prussia.
Every girl in the room, swoons, and gasps at him, as she walks over to talk to Miss Cowper.
"Do they all behave this way, in the presence on a Prince?" Mister Barnes asks, and I just laugh.
"This is rather controlled behavior." I tell him, smiling. "But I believe, some poor girl will faint, and His Royal Highness will save her from falling to the ground, making them fall in love ."
"That fainting part?" He asks me, horrified. "It is a trick?"
"Only the most transparent one." I tell him, with a laugh, but his face remains shocked. "Why do you look so shocked, Mister Barnes? Has someone tried to win your favor by doing that?"
"I believe, I have experienced it more often that you would think, Miss Bridgerton." He tells me, a smile finally breaking out on his face, but it is once again gone, as the Queen and the Prince walk near us. "I have the most wonderful time this evening, Miss Bridgerton." He says, hurriedly, and I look at him confused. "But, now, I'm afraid I must take my leave."
"What do you mean, Mister Barnes?" I ask, but he is already gone, leaving me standing there alone, confused.

The Pugilist
Vincent Roy Salazar has never been your common folk. He climbed any mountain he found in front of him. From a bright young student to an accomplished professor, his life can be described as a continuous race to the top of his chosen fields. Patriarch of a loving family, proud father of three already grown siblings, Roy realizes that his life is the perfect picture of what the average man strives for, and for that he is truly grateful. But happiness is a difficult-to-reach goal, and as he lies in a pool of his own blood, his fist cracked, a young lady crying while cradling his head, he remembers what really gave sense to his youth. Pure Unadulterated Violence The Pugilist wants to be a different take on isekai shenanigans. What would happen if instead of a moronic idiot, a depressed high schooler, or a wannabe hero the one to get his do-over is a fully grown man that has already seen what life has to offer in full? Someone who conformed himself to society, but has always craved something different? In a journey of self-discovery, academy building, god-slaying, and absolutely no harem we follow someone driven by logic, experience, and a smokey goal: to fuck shit up, have fun while doing so, and maybe resume his career as a professor for those strange, magic-wielding, unstable youths that seems to never get enough of his presence. Guys, a few notes, first of all, this is my first time writing long-form fiction. I have a background in psychology, and my main income comes from writing dreary financial articles on SEO blogs. But after a bad break-up, and finding myself falling asleep only while thinking of deus ex machina for stories on this site (and for APGTE) I decided to try my hand at this web series thingy. I'm confident in my grammar, but that's it. Everything else will be a first time, and as such any constructive criticism is encouraged and gratefully accepted. Now, on the story. Romance will be introduced once my little heart is mended, if you are scared of LGBT you may be turned off by the fact that I plan to have no taboo of any kind in my universe, but I won't ever write detailed sex scenes for any characters so don't worry too much. The litRPG part is very light and will take place later in the novel, but it's a key component nonetheless, for world-building and storyline reasons. I already have everything big planned out, so I won't drop it outta nowhere, and I hope you won't find too many flaws in how things pan out. I plan to make The Pugilist an interactive story, with secondary characters created by my audience and introduced after tweaks and careful planning. The main reason I'm writing this is that I want to build a community for myself in this time of isolation. I discovered that exercising, playing the piano or video games means jack-shit when you are utterly miserable, so I hope to give some value to my readers in exchange for praise, fame, money, and companionship. I give full props to anyone who has read this whole mess of a synopsis: I hope to not disappoint too much, now let's write some more steaming garbage that will be in dire need of editing later on.

The Book of Rune
If you like moderately well-researched semi-medieval military logistics with some fantasy twists, and also conspiracy, and exploration, and violence, and maybe a dash of road movie, hey, Ruen just might be your thing. Plot-wise, basically there's a guy who got fired by Death, a kid with pyrotechnic tendencies, and a slave general who wouldn't mind retiring but ended up on a mass suicide mission. If you were looking for a less TL;DR version, a guy who got fired by Death meets a kid with pyrotechnic tendencies, and they try to get the guy un-fired while also trying to come to terms with death together (ooohhhh, look, I'm deep). Meanwhile a slave general does something stupid and ends up being sent on a suicide mission, and he tries to wreak havoc and save lives at the same time. The threads come together, I swear. This is a rough draft of a fantasy semi-book that I've had in the back of my head for some time. I've written a variety of short stories set in the world over the past three years, and I finally kicked myself into writing the actual story. Very much a slow work in progress. Occasional violence (okay, well, maybe more than occasional), occasional foul language.
