A million questions came bubbling to the surface. I pinched my lips together to stop them from bursting from my mouth to give Mason a chance to explain why we were here.

It looked like he was mentally fighting a war in his own head so I ran my fingers up and down his arm to reassure him.

"While I was in the foster system I went by the name 'Dean' for my protection." He said frankly with his hands grasping the steering wheel. My mouth fell open. He was the boy I gave my bed to all those years ago? He's the boy who gave me this? I looked down at my dog tag and held it in my hand re-reading the quote.

"True love doesn't mean being inseparable..."

"I never actively seeked you out but I always hoped I'd see you again. Every time I saw you I got to know you a little more and I fell in love with another piece of you." Mason pulled a dog tag out from underneath his shirt. He leaned over the glove box and held his next to mine.

"Read them together." His voice was barely a whisper as the atmosphere became more electrified.

"True love doesn't mean being inseparable..."

"It means being separated and nothing changes."

My eyes met Mason's and in that moment our worlds collided into one. I knew then and there that I was in the right place at the right time. It felt like a bizarre deja vu even though nothing like this has ever happened before.

He took my hand and brought it to his lips. I closed my eyes and cherished this moment, the feel of his lips, the sweetness in the air, the smell of his masculine cologne mixed with his scent. I was no longer thinking about the impending doctor's report, my financial status, the threat of Chris, it all took a back seat.

My eyes fluttered open to Mason's focused gaze. My heart skipped a beat as I held my breath in anticipation.

"Quinn ... there's actually one more thing I have to tell you..."
