《Dusk & Dawn》Chapter 28

I rubbed my knees cursing under my breath. Falling up steps has got to be the worst habit I have by far. I've never fallen down stairs, only up. Who does that?
"What are y'doin?" Masons voice comes up from behind me. I shake my head at his impeccable timing to see how clumsy I am.
"I was testing gravity. It works." I said, grimacing while rubbing my already bruised knees. Mason's smooth laugh began to pour out of his perfect mouth.
"You're such a nuff nuff. I love it." He said pulling my hand to help me up. I gave him a tight lipped smile, sort of annoyed at myself that he could make me feel so tingly inside with just a few words.
We walked through the lounge room together and started preparing food in the kitchen. I got out all the ingredients to make a salad wrap and Mason was re-heating some left over pizza from the fridge. I looked over at him tossing the pizza slices into the frying pan. He smiled, effectively melting my thoughts and emotions into one big hot heap on the floor. I may as well have been in the pan along with his pizza.
"What'chya doin' today beautiful?" He asked flipping the pizza.
"I was just gonna... clean? Maybe read. I have no idea where Lexi is today. She's not even answering her phone." I said in between bites.
"Yeah, Zach and Lexi are at the sex store." He said nonchalantly. I choked on my food, immediately feeling my face flush crimson. Mason chuckles.
"The sex store? Oh my God!" I said under my breath.
"Does that make you horny, baby?" Mason asked in one of the best Austin Powers impressions I've ever heard. I blame Lexi for introducing me to that movie over the summer. I covered my eyes the majority of the time, horrified.
"Oh Lord, help me." I covered my face just thinking about the movie.

"Does sex embarrass you?." Mason smiled a mischievous smile. I shook my head, then nodded my head, then shook it again.
"I dunno, I guess. Growing up I never really knew about sex so it's weird to hear about... that." I looked down at my food, suddenly not hungry. The topic of sex makes me uncomfortable, but the thought of my body growing hot near Mason or my breaths intensifying whenever he touched me made me feel betrayed. My own body was betraying me. I'd never really wanted sex before I met Mason.
"So dildo's and butt plugs make you nervous?" He tried to hold in his laughter watching my reaction to his question. I squealed, blocking my ears.
"Don't worry, they're just at the movies having a date day. I was kidding." He came over and pushed my shoulder playfully. He was just pushing my buttons, what an a-hole. He knew how to make me squirm.
We ate in silence, him watching every bite I took while I tried to keep my eyes away from him. I didn't want to be attracted to him because that's the last thing he would need, a boost to his ego. He did look extra hot today though in his ripped jeans and blue t-shirt which clung to every muscle in on his upper body.
"You coming?" He asked me jingling his keys while I washed my plate.
"Where are you going?"
"You'll see when we get there." He said walking towards me in front of the sink. I felt at home at the sink. There was never an unwashed dish in my presence, but I put that down to being brought up on dish duty after every meal of every day of every week of my life. I kept washing the utensils in the soapy water until Mason ducks underneath me and throws me over his shoulder. I scream and laugh at the same time trying to slap his back to put me down. I'm pretty sure he didn't feel a thing because his back muscles were as solid as concrete which seriously turned me on. I clenched my legs. It suddenly got hot again.

"Are you crazy?" I laughed once we were both in the car.
"I'm the right amount of crazy." He grinned, driving down the street.
For a while we listened to the radio and he sang along mimicking Miley Cyrus which made me laugh so hard my face hurt. Maybe if I looked under my shirt I would have a full set of abs now from laughing so hard. If only it were that easy.
"Stick your head out the sun roof." He nodded up to the roof. I gave him an arched eyebrow.
"I'm not a dog."
"No, but you do need to loosen up tinny." He smiled revealing his sexy teeth. Can teeth be sexy?
"What do I get if I do it?" I asked through squinted eyes. He kept driving but obviously deep in thought. A big smile started to spread across his face.
"I'll parade around in a bra on the beach if you stick your head out of that sun roof." Now that I had to see. It didn't take me long to unbuckle my seat belt and look out of the sunroof. It felt amazing, almost like I was flying, like I was free.
"Now shout something you wanna get off your chest." He called from the car. I thought for a minute before I spread my arms out wide on either side of me.
"My favourite position in bed is near the wall so I can use my phone when it's charging!" I yell, giggling. I look down to see Mason curled over the steering wheel in laughter.
"I wake up at 3 am thirsty as hell and water tastes like it came straight from the river of Jesus!" I call at the top of my lungs. I felt Masons arm hook around my leg and his chest convulsing against it.
"I always accidentally punch myself in the face while I try to pull up my blanket at night!" I scream, my face smiling so damn hard I can barely breathe.
I slowly lower myself back down into the car and look at Mason who's face is streaked with tears and he's still laughing holding his stomach.
"Totally worth having to wear a bra later." He said holding his hand up.
He eventually brought the car to a park underneath some trees. It was soon going to be dusk and the cicadas were singing in the grass. The breeze was fresh but not too cold to be outside. I could hear the ocean, it was close by. I'd never been to the beach before, but it was already more than I had expected it to be, and I hadn't even seen it yet. Mason took my hand and pulled me along behind him down a walkway that was lined with wooden pillars. The gravel started turning to dirt and then to yellow coarse sand underfoot until our feet were flicking up fine white sand.
Mason pointed over to a cove where there were a few people I recognised from college crowding around a large wooden looking tee-pee.
"That's where the bonfire's gonna be. It wont start until sundown so I thought maybe we could go for a swim." He said laying out a towel then beginning to take off his shoes and placing them next to the towel. I stood there not knowing what to do. I'd never swum before, and sure as hell didn't know what the etiquette was for beach swimming. Do you keep all of your clothes on or do people strip down to underwear? Because I don't think I'd have the guts to do that, especially in front of Mason. My heart started hammering in my chest. I can't do this...
