《Fated to Miss Jackson ( GXG )》Chapter 14

"I'm so sorry" I said, scrambling to get off her.

"It's okay"

I diverted my gaze to the floor and sat back down at my desk. Katy also returned to hers.

The silence between us was almost painful. I watched her stare at her page, her dirty blonde hair falling like a curtain to hide her face. Her pen was grasped tightly in her hand, so tight that her knuckles began to lose their colour.

I knew she knew I was watching her. She was clearly making an extra effort to ignore my gaze. Fair enough.

The minutes went by so slowly as she scribbled on her page and I worked my way through students work to mark. It was almost as if the clock ticks had slowed.

She was so beautiful

Her leg bounced under the table and her nails were bitten. Her hair was a bit of a mess and her clothes were slightly dirty, as if she had slept in a ditch or something. She bit her lip nervously as she wrote. Her shoes were wet and squeaking quietly against the floor.

She is beautiful.

I didn't mind if my lips never met hers again, or if she never looked up at me nervously with a million butterflies in her stomach as our hands grazed. Although I longed and ached to touch her, I just wanted her to look at me like she once did.

I wanted her to smile at the sight of me again, I wanted her to sit through her lessons excited to see me. I wanted her witty sarcastic comments that were so quick but so filled with love.

I just wanted Katy back.

She placed her pen down and looked up at me, startling me slightly. My eyes shot back down to my desk as a desperate effort to pretend I hadn't been staring at her.

"Can I go to the bathroom please" she asked quietly, still not quite meeting my eye contact. I nodded and smiled at her as warmly as I could without looking slightly creepy.

She pushed her chair back, scraping on the floor before walking towards the door. I sat at my desk and listened to her soft footsteps. The door closed silently behind her.

How do I fix this what do I do. At this point I was desperate just to hear her light beautiful laugh again. I needed it.

An alarm sounded loudly, blaring throughout the school. The fire alarm.

Katy.

I ran to the door, I needed to know she was okay. I grabbed the handle and felt it come away in my hand. The piece of metal slipped from my hand and clattered onto the floor. I shoved my whole body weight against the door in desperation but it did not budge.

I turned around, surely I could fit through the window. And thats when I saw the thick black smoke invading the room. It seemed to be swallowing the whole room.

I tried to breathe but I felt the smoke in my lungs suffocating me, my vision was blurry and dark.

I pushed the door again, my muscles were feeling weak and faint but I needed to find her.

I felt the ground slip from beneath my feet and I fell towards my desk, the corner catching my head as I fell and thumped to the ground.

Katy.
