《Fated to Miss Jackson ( GXG )》Chapter 2

I stepped out of my mums warm car and felt the chilly air of the cold September Wednesday morning. Although the first 2 days of school had been a drag and it was a grizzly day (that's British weather for you) I still had a slight spring in my step. Unusual for my depressing self.

Luckily, I had a free period first so I got a much needed lie in. I smiled to myself, probably looking like a psycho, as I realised I had English first. Obviously because I greatly enjoyed analysing Romeo and Juliet, not because of the hot teacher or anything.

I took a minute to brace myself, before knocking gently on the door and entering the room. Miss Jackson was sitting at her desk, her long blonde hair was straight and tied in a ponytail with a velvet green scrunchie. She was wearing black skinny jeans and green converse with a tight green long sleeved top which was cut out at the shoulders. I smiled to myself, immediately realising her green theme.

She looked up, surprised to see me.

"Katy? You're early! Not often that my students are rushing to school to analyse Romeo and Juliet."

I laughed lightly, not wanting to reveal that she was the real reason I was early. "I guess I'm a romantic at heart" I said shrugging slightly.

"Yeah me too" she agreed

"That's why I love Romeo and Juliet, I'm a sucker for true love" I said, tilting my head to one side.

"Yeah me too, and although they died in the end and didn't get a traditional happily ever after-"

"They still did in a way because they found true love" I smiled, finishing her sentence. I watched as Mrs Jackson's eyes lit up

"That is exactly what I was going to say" she grabbed my hand in excitement as we shared a warm smile. I felt tingles run up my arm and through my body, flushing my cheeks. I bit my lip gently and looked down to the floor, still feeling her gaze burning into me.

Suddenly as the door burst open, she dropped my hand and students began to fill the room. We hadn't noticed the bell ring. I shot her a quick smile, realising that her gaze was still on mine as I found my way to my seat.

"So, class" Miss Jackson said, after briefly recapping Act 1 of Romeo and Juliet, "is Romeo really in love with Juliet or is he simply being immature?"

People murmured to the people next to them whereas I raised my hand.

"Katy?" Miss Jackson nodded.

" To be honest, I believe it was true love, not immaturity" I said. She cocked her head to one side

"And why is that? Surely Romeo is simply immature, not even hours ago he was seemingly in love with Rosaline and had now jumped to Juliet?" Miss Jackson said with a knowing smile.

"All due respect Miss, however I think it is clear that Romeo was not in love with Rosaline because, as he said, he did not know what love was until he saw Juliet. Once he met Juliet he new instantly it was true love and realised that he did not truly love Rosaline" I said, raising my eyebrows slightly as her eyes widened at my quick response.

"But he had not known Juliet long at all, he had only just met her" by this time, people had stopped murmuring and doodling and were listening in on the conflict.

"Don't underestimate love at first sight Miss Jackson" I said, not breaking eye contact once.

She stood there, speechless. The corners of her mouth turned up slightly. People began to turn around and stare at me. I felt my cheeks flush so I looked back down at my book, however I still felt one gaze on me. I looked up and my eyes met miss Jackson's. Her lips parted as we got lost in each other's gaze, but then the fire alarm went off. Snapping us both our of our trances.

"Shit" Miss Jackson whispered under her breath, rolling her eyes with annoyance as the whole class began to stand up and chat. "Right class, fire drill so walk quickly, I don't want to miss much of class time" everyone began to rush out, many of them already on snapchat and Instagram as they were walking.

"Come on Katy" Miss Jackson chuckled as I was the last out of the classroom "let's hope there's not a real fire in the next year then because you would be the last out" we both laughed nervously as our hands brushed.

"Oh, and I have to say, about your interpretation of Romeo-" I opened my mouth to apologise but she quickly carried on talking

"I thought it was a very mature observation, it shows real potential and that you have understood the play at great detail. If you carry on working this way I have no doubts that you will leave this school with an amazing English A-level" I studied her face which showed no signs of joking. She was dead serious.

"I guess it's just my favourite Shakespeare's play" I said shrugging

"Yeah me too, I really relate to-"

"Juliet" we both exclaimed in unison before chucking lightly,

"Yeah, like her, I am level headed and mature most of the time but as soon as I'm in love, all sensibility goes out of the window" she laughed, but there appeared to be a slight sadness behind her voice, I would have asked her about it but I thought that was probably inappropriate to ask my teacher and she carried on talking anyway.

"But regardless of whether it's your favourite play, your interpretations show me your intelligent way of thinking, and not only that you can articulate your ideas well." I blushed and looked to the floor

"You truly understand love, Katy" I looked up into her eyes, and saw a hint of desire in them. I started to think we were no longer talking about English. My heart said that it would not be a bad thing but the more I wondered, more thoughts flooded my brain as to why it would be indeed, a very bad thing...
