《The Bet | Pietro x Reader》Chapter Sixteen

Pietro POV

I watched y/n from across the room. She sat by herself, not touching her food. It had been three weeks since she broke up with me. She would always walk away from me whenever I tried to approach her, and she ignored all my calls and texts.

She stood up from her table and dumped her untouched food into the bin. I stood up to go after her.

What would I even say? She didn't want to believe me. She wouldn't even listen to what I had to say.

"Don't try, Pietro," Val said tiredly. "It's over. She's not going to talk to you."

"I don't care," I said heatedly and on the verge of tears. "She doesn't need to say anything. She just needs to listen."

I followed y/n out of the cafeteria and down the hall. She heard my footsteps and turned around. She glared at me when she realised who it was and sped up.

"Y/n! Wait!" I called after her.

I ran to catch up to her. I grabbed her arm, but she pulled it out of my grip.

"Don't talk to me," she said.

"But, y/n-"

"You have no right to try to talk to me. I'm done with you, and your friends. Just leave me alone."

She walked away and down the hall. I looked after her longingly. I wanted to go after her, but I didn't want to make her angry.

"Nice one."

I turned around to see Brock staring after y/n.

"Don't you even think about going after her," I growled.

Brock just shrugged and smirked at me.

"She dumped you. Now she's free for me to take," he sneered.

He shoved past me and followed y/n down the hall. I looked after them for a moment before sadly walking away.

Your POV

"Y/n!"

I glanced back to see Brock running after me. I sighed. The two people I didn't want to speak to the most both spoke to me within minutes of each other.

"Listen, about Tony's party... I was drunk. I'm really sorry about making you feel uncomfortable, and I was wondering if I could make it up to you," Brock said.

He sounded really sincere. Maybe I should give him a second chance.

"Sure," I said tiredly. "What were you thinking?"

"Maybe a movie? I'll pay for the tickets and popcorn," he said, smiling.

Free movie and free popcorn. I did need to get over Pietro, and maybe this was the way to start.

"Sure," I said, smiling back.

"I'll text you the details," he said, before he sauntered off.

I opened my locker and glanced at the photos still stuck to the inside of my locker door.

A photo of me and Pietro at the carnival, eating fairy floss. A photo of Pietro and I at the park. A photo of the girls and I getting ready for a party. A photo with all my friends, eating shawarma. The photo of Pietro and I at the beach, just before he threw me into the waves.

I sighed and began taking the photos down. It was time to move on, no matter how much it hurt.

"Y/n."

I jumped and turned to see Natasha standing next to me. I closed my locker angrily.

"What do you want?" I snapped.

"I just wanted to see how you were doing," Natasha said casually.

"Oh, I'm doing great. My boyfriend dated me for a bet and all my friends lied to me," I said sarcastically.

Natasha frowned.

"If you really were my friend, why didn't you tell me?" I asked. "Was it because you didn't care about me? Did you find the whole thing funny?"

Natasha shook her head.

"He told us not to tell you because he cared about you," she said.

I snorted.

"Yeah, right," I said, brushing past her.

Natasha grabbed my shoulder.

"Listen... we all miss you. Especially Pietro," she said.

I glanced at her hand on my shoulder. It could be another lie.

"I don't care," I said, and walked away.

Pietro POV

Natasha walked up to me after school with a sad frown on her face.

"She's gone," she said quietly.

My face dropped and all my hope disappeared. Y/n was really gone.

"I have to go," I said.

I walked away. I drove home and walked into my room. I closed the door and sat on my bed, staring at nothing.

I really did love y/n. I hated that she wouldn't talk to me. I sent another text to her, hoping that this time, she would answer. I knew she wouldn't, though.

I finally focused on what I was seeing. It was the blue duck that y/n had won me at the carnival. I picked it up and held it to my chest. It smelled like candy and y/n.

Tears came to my eyes and I let them flow. After Terresa, I had never though I'd feel like this again. After being with y/n for a while, I'd started feeling things again. I felt love.

I decided then, that I would make her listen, only once, and then if she still hated me, I'd leave her life.
