"Get in the car."
Taehyung turned around to see his father waiting for him in his old white pick up truck. The smile on his face fell quickly, eyes losing their shine.
He gulped harshly but nonetheless bid a silent goodbye to Jimin before climbing into the passenger seat.
School had just ended for the day and the pastor was serious when he instructed Taehyung to go home right after.
Jimin watched with worried eyes as the pastor drove off with a straight face.
Taehyung sat silently as his father drove down the road back home, never once asking how his day had gone.
He couldn't help but think back to his father's angry ranting during dinner last night.
After the whole incident on television, he forced Taehyung to read passages from the Bible for three hours before he could eat.
Something about reminding him that God does not like sinners and whatever he says, goes.
The boy had read and read until the letters seemed to be falling off the pages and his eyesight made the words mesh together.
It only made him feel worse as he read about all the things the lord considered to be sins.
He wanted to be good. He wanted to be pure and clean of heart. He wanted to be a son of God.
He had fallen asleep crying after eating very little food, wishing someone could help him out of his misery.
"F-Father?" Taehyung asked softly, feeling terrified of the result.
His father didn't reply, only grunted in response.
"Could you-... May I be dropped off at the church?" Taehyung whispered, closing his eyes momentarily as he imagined his father screaming at him.
Once again the pastor did not reply, his eyes still focused on the road. Taehyung had already accepted defeat, trying not to seem too upset.

It was a few moments later that Taehyung noticed his father take a left turn instead of a right.
He released the air he didn't know he was holding, relieved that he wouldn't be stuck at home again.
He tiredly looked out the window to the passing cars and people, wondering when he would be able to be free again.
The truck came to a complete stop, Taehyung snapping out of his thoughts to see that they were now in front of the church.
Taehyung hesitantly looked to his father, waiting for him to say something.
"Are you going to get off?" He barked.
Taehyung quickly scrambled to unlock the door, muttering a quick apology.
"I expect you home by seven. Remember to pray for your sins!" His father spoke before driving off down the road.
Taehyung watched his father leave with blurry eyes, his tears waiting to fall.
It seemed like these days all he did was cry, but he couldn't help it when his father accused him of betraying God.
It wasn't fair.
A loud sob left his lips once his father's pick up truck disappeared down the road. He quickly turned and ran inside the church, not wanting anyone to see him crying.
Unfortunately he had failed to notice the tall figure walking down the opposite side of the street.
Jungkook.
He had been on his way home from visiting Jimin when he caught sight of Taehyung being dropped off at the church.
It was the first time he was seeing him since that night when his father had caught them.
His eyes focused on the distraught boy, listening to him cry before disappearing behind the building.
His heart broke the second a pitiful sob left the small boy's lips.
Jungkook frowned, crossing the street quickly. He stood by the lawn in front of the church, eyes contemplating his next move.

He bit his lip harshly, remembering the promise he had made to himself about never entering a church.
He remembered his mother begging him to attend Mass with her but giving up after he refused for the twentieth time.
But now the memory of the boy's tear-stained face had him more determined than ever to be by his side.
He wanted nothing more than to comfort the beautiful boy and wipe his sadness away.
"Fuck it." He whispered angrily before stepping forward into the sacred building.

The Errant Otherworlder Watanabe
“In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and trucks whom transport men to other worlds.” Meet our titular protagonist Haruto Watanabe, a man who has all the markings of a good protagonist for a generic portal fantasy story. As an overworked office worker, to escape from the grips of crippling capitalist alienation, he had taken up to reading many stories where young men like him were transported to other worlds and enjoyed their lives at a most leisurely pace. Armed with genre-awareness and (what he believes to be) a marketable personality which would make him an easy audience self-insert, he longed for the day the isekai express would take him to his long-awaited adventure to another world. When the fateful day came, where the fair yet harsh mistress that is the fabled truck took Watanabe on one last date to the other side, he was most ready to escape his previous life, ready to embark on an errant so great he’d be most overpowered, his heroics so exceptional and his harem so vast that they would barely fit ten or twenty volumes of an overly long novel made by a desperate author looking for quick cash. Lo and behold however, Watanabe instead found himself in a low fantasy world which lacked severely in the department of any game-like systems, cheat skills or easily charmed damsels in distress. In a setting so antithetical to his established genre savviness or any attempts at power fantasy, how will a man like Watanabe, lacking in strength, wits and courage, manage to survive in a land most foreign to him? This is my first time trying to share to the wider world what I’ve written, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading the errantry of Watanabe as much as I enjoy writing about them. I'll be posting one chapter per week on Sundays, along with extra chapters whenever I get the chance to write more than usual.
