Taehyung was nervous.
He knew he shouldn't be, but he was.
He was about to sing for the very first time on the new chorus for Mass.
It wasn't like he hadn't done it before, but he couldn't help the anxiety that rose.
He wanted it to be absolutely perfect.
He looked out into the sea of people, finding practically everyone from their small town to be there.
He saw the elderly woman from the shoe repair shop down the road, the younger gentleman who owned a ramen restaurant, and Jimin's parents from the bakery.
His eyes continued scanning everyone in the benches until he stopped where Chanyeol's mother was.
She was sat with her child, her other son nowhere in sight.
Taehyung couldn't help but frown seeing that he wasn't attending Mass every Sunday.
It was then that the slow music began, making his stomach fill with an endless amount of butterflies.
He listened as Jimin sang his lines flawlessly, hoping that he could do the same.
When his turn finally came, he took a deep breath before beginning.
It was silent in the small room as Taehyung's voice rang throughout.
The townspeople couldn't help but stare in awe at the boy's soulful and beautiful voice.
Kim Taehyung was an angel.
By the time he was finished, everyone was already whispering amongst themselves about the boy's lovely voice.
They gushed about how blessed they were to have someone like him sing at their town's church every Sunday.
He was everyone's favorite, it was a fact.
-
"Sweetheart, you did amazing!" Someone gently patted his back as the service ended.
"Thank you!" He smiled, bowing lightly.
It was the exact same routine every Sunday, no different.
He went out, said his goodbyes to everyone leaving, and prepared to teach the children Sunday class.

Nonetheless, Taehyung didn't seem to care. He walked around with a smile on his face, thankful to God for giving him another day.
That was until he caught sight of Jungkook leaning against that same brick wall, in the same position with a cigarette hanging from his lips.
But for some reason, Taehyung felt different.
He felt the undying need to just say something.
To know more about this mysterious boy who always seemed to cross his path.
"I-I saw your mother during Mass," he paused, now standing right in front of Jungkook, who's dark eyes peered up into his.
His Bible was clutched tightly against his chest, a habit which he had grown up with his whole life.
"Yes, so?" He scoffed.
"You should join us inside sometime." Taehyung gave him a friendly smile, light pink dust coating his cheeks.
"I'm good." He retorted, a sarcastic smile displayed on his face.
"Why is that?" Taehyung's brows furrowed, wanting to know why Jungkook refused to step foot inside the church.
"I don't think you'll like my answer so I suggest you continue on with your day." Was all he replied.
"Please enlighten me. I'd like to know." Taehyung pleaded, not knowing why the boy's opinion mattered so much to him in the first place.
Why he suddenly felt hot and breathless every time Jungkook stared at him so intensely that it made his knees almost buckle.
"I don't believe in your God." He said, basically throwing the cigarette to the ground.
Taehyung was startled for a second, stepping back a bit in shock.
"Calm down, I wasn't going to throw it at you, if that's what you thought." Jungkook snorted, finally standing up straight.
"No, I just- I guess I'm a little surprised. Your mother and Chanyeol seem to love coming to church every Sunday and I never see you inside..."

"So, you look for me?" He smirked, making Taehyung's face burn red at the suggestion.
"N-No! I just always greet her when she comes in, uh- I-I have to get to the classroom. Bye." Taehyung was too embarrassed to stand there.
He turned suddenly and practically bolted down the hallway.
He could hear Jungkook chuckling lowly behind him and he made a run for it.
He didn't know why he was so embarrassed about admitting that he practically scanned the room every Sunday, hoping to catch a glimpse of the raven-haired male.
-
It was a Tuesday afternoon when Taehyung got home to hushed whispers.
He knew his mother wasn't home based on the empty spot in their driveway.
He quietly opened the door and took off his coat.
Taehyung knew how angry his father got when he made a lot of noise while he was on the phone.
He had learned it the hard way.
"I'm telling you I'm not sure... I couldn't force it out of him..." Taehyung tried not to eavesdrop, knowing it was rude, but curiosity was getting the best of him.
"I'll keep an eye out, if it turns out that he is... I'll send him to you."
Taehyung cocked his head to the side in confusion, wondering who his father was speaking to.
He was talking almost in a hushed whisper, like if what he was saying was meant to be a secret.
Taehyung was lost in thought that he didn't notice when his father had hung up the phone, his footsteps getting closer to where he was.
"How long have you been here?" He barked, demanding an answer.
"Just got here." Taehyung replied, eyes focused entirely on his dull grey socks.
"Get dinner ready, your mother is working late tonight." He ordered before turning around and walking upstairs.
What was that all about?
