《The Prince's Stubborn Mate》Chapter 37

"You remember." He said softly looking at me with terror filled gray eyes.

The purple tinge in his irises had vanished when he realized that I remembered him.

"Everything." I said looking at him, my face impassive.

"Jessabell, I can explain." He began stepping closer to me.

His parents still stood frozen in the door way along with my father while my mother took up a permanent place by my side.

"There is nothing to explain."

Demetri attempted to step closer to me but I held up my hand,

"Don't come near me." I hissed "I never wanted to see you again. Ever."

His eyes held hurt in them but I didn't care because I have endured more hurt in the while that I have known him.

"I'm going to return the two dresses that I got for the wedding and the ceremony, and you will stay away from me." I said placing emphasis on the word 'will'

Demetri's eyes started tinting purple around the edges of the iris.

"May I please have a moment with my mate." He said it more like a command than a request.

"Now." He hissed when everyone hesitated.

"You heard my son, let's leave them alone." Alpha Alexander said leading his wife and my father out the door.

My mother still hesitated and I grabbed her arm not wanting her to leave me alone with him.

"Mrs. Archer, leave." The alpha commanded in his ruling tone making it impossible for my mother to disobey him.

She reluctantly released my hand and made her way out the door which alpha Alexander closed behind her.

"Now that you have your memories back, we can pick up where we left off instead of starting over." Demetri said in a deceptively calm voice.

"I was left at attempted suicide, I don't know where you were." I told him bluntly.

"Jessabell, you can be snarky all you like but we will be mated in two days."

"Please stop deluding yourself because now that I know what an absolute fuck tard you are, I will not be mating with you nor will I be marrying you."

He let out a growl as his eyes turned completely purple.

"You can make this easy for yourself or you can make it very hard, either way you will be mine completely. I always get what I want Jessabell." He said placing his hands on either side of my hips and leaning in close to my face so that we were about two inches apart.

"So we're back to you being a bully. How fucking fantastic." I muttered sarcastically pulling away from him.

"I do not appreciate your attitude or your language."

"I don't appreciate your presence."

He glared at me before he pinched my upper right arm.

I gritted my teeth trying not to give him the satisfaction of seeing me in pain but I caved and apologize when he started digging his nails into my flesh.

He let me go and looked at my arm where a small bead of blood had started to gather.

He attempted to wipe the blood away but I pushed him away from me, "Don't touch me." I muttered.

"Fine, I'll go get your doctor."

"I didn't believe my mother when she said that I tried to kill myself, but now that I remember exactly who you are, I can see why I did it," I said as Demetri began walking to the door, but at my words,he froze and slowly turned to me.

" I don't regret trying, I just regret failing." I finished looking at him as I fiddled with the thin blue sheets.

"You will never try something like that ever again, or you will suffer the consequences." He snarled glaring at me with eyes filled with panic, anger and worry.

"What's to stop me, I've got nothing to loose. If I die, you can't hurt me anymore."

"Before you tell yourself that you have nothing to loose, please give a thought to your mother who you have just reconstructed your relationship with." He said stalking over to me slowly.

I felt my heart freeze in my chest as soon as I realize what he's attempting to do.

"Not to mention your two lovely little cousins, and your aunt Morgan, who so conveniently happen to be here for our mating ceremony. It wouldn't take much to throw them in the dungeons."

When he was standing beside my bed and looking down at me, I felt tears gather in my eyes and I think to myself how many times I have cried because of this one man.

How could anyone be so cruel and unfeeling.

"Please leave me alone." I said softly, not in the mood to fight with him anymore.

"You have choices Jessabell, I suggest you choose wisely." He said "You will not be left alone until after our mating ceremony since you cannot be trusted not to harm yourself."

I didn't bother to Respond, I just pulled my knees up to my chest and rested my chin on my crossed arms.

"I'll get the doctor." Demetri said turning to walk out the door.

I was determined not to cry because of Demetri anymore, but really contemplating the choices that I have at this moment, I couldn't help wanting to cry.

If I say no to the ceremony, my mother, as well as aunt Morgan and Uncle Kevin could die. Demetri said he'd just throw them in the dungeons but who knows how long he'd actually keep them there.

My mother wouldn't survive and neither would my unborn sibling.

Not to mention Katherine and Keith in the royal dungeon. I can't let my angels go through something like that.

The door to the hospital room opened briefly admitting Demetri and a doctor.

"Hello, your majesty." She addressed me dropping into a short bow before walking closer to me, "I'd like to do a quick check to see how you are."

"I feel fine." I muttered not moving from my curled position.

"Yes princess, but not because you feel fine means that you are fine I'd just like to make sure that you are perfectly healthy."

"Just do what you need to." Demetri told the doctor.

I didn't look at him and I didn't move, not even when the doctor pulled out a needle and a swab with some alcohol.

She asked me to hold out my arm but I didn't move so she held my wrist and pulled out my arm before wiping the swab over my main vein at my elbow.

I didn't so much as flinch when she stuck the needle into my vein and began taking my blood.

When she was finished, she wiped the small bead of blood from my flesh and watched as the small needle hole closed by itself.

She did a few more basic tests concerning my eyes, ears nose and throat, then some breathing tests before she told us everything is fine.

"I'll send the blood sample to the lab to get it tested, I'll get the results back to you as soon as possible, your majesty." She told Demetri with a slight bow.

"Good. Her wellness is and should always be first priority." He stated in a cold emotionless voice.

"Yes my prince." She said exiting the room and closing the door behind her.

I was back in my position with legs up to my chest arms wrapped around legs and head buried into my knees.

"Would you like something to eat?" Demetri asked.

Not wanting to pick a fight I shook my head slightly; enough to get my point across but not to much to disturb my position.

"Do you need anything?" He inquired laying his large warm hand on my back.

"I need to be alone." I mumbled quietly but I know he heard me.

"No." He said and I didn't bother to respond.

"We have a rehearsal tomorrow if you feel up to it." He told me and I almost laughed.

I don't feel up to it now and I probably never will, unless I loose my memory again of course.

"I love you," He said leaning down to kiss my cheek.

I didn't respond, because I knew it wasn't true.

"You need to take a shower." He said taking my arm and untangling my body from its curled position.

"I'll help you." He offered walking behind me to the small ensuite bathroom.

"No thank you, I can manage." I said blandly stepping into the bathroom and closing the door.

I didn't bother turning the lock because I wasn't planning to stay in the bathroom long.

Stripping off my hospital gown, I got into the shower and scrubbed myself clean.

I used the natural shampoo to wash my tangled hair before rinsing off and exiting the shower.

drying off with a fluffy white towel had me feeling more normal.

I disposed of the towel that I dried off with and replaced it with a fresh dry towel which I wrapped around my body as I made my way back into the room where Demetri was seated in the arm chair beside the bed waiting for me.

I needed clothes but I don't want to ask him for anything.

"Can you please call my mother?" I requested softly holding the towel close to my body.

"Yes, of course. And I'll get your clothes from the car." He said standing and exiting the room allowing my parents to come in.

"Jessabell." My mother cooed rushing to wrap her arms around my towel clad body.

"Mom." I wrapped my arms around her body in an awkward hug caused by her bulging belly.

In this moment of parental comfort I couldn't control the flood of tears that filled my eyes and leaked down my cheeks.

I was vaguely aware of my father patting my back in an attempt to give me some comfort as I broke down in my mother's arms.

"You don't have to go with him, darling." My father said and I sniffled not caring that I was filling my mothers shirt with tears and snot.

"I have to." I hiccupped in broken fragments, "He'll hurt mom and aunty Morgan."

"Did he tell you that?" Mom asked and I nodded.

"Alpha Alexander, supports his decision one hundred percent." I sobbed.

Mom was about to say something else but the door opened admitting Demetri carrying a black bag.

He looked at me wrapped in my mother's arms.

"What happened to her?" He inquired placing the bag on the chair then making his way over to us.

Before he could touch me, my mother pushed me behind her and turned to glare at him.

"You happened to her." She hissed at him.

He looked shocked by her hostility towards him but he quickly composed himself.

"I haven't done anything to Jessabell."

"Nothing but threaten her and make her unhappy since you've met her. Why can't you just leave her alone?!" Mom yelled angrily.

"She's my mate and she belongs to me." He growled stepping towards her causing my father to step before her.

"Jessabell, tell your father what happens to your mother if you refuse me." Demetri stated casually.

I kept my mouth shut and refused to speak.

"Not willing to tell?" He sneered. "I'll do it then."

"I'll throw your wife in the royal dungeons not to mention your sister and her family." Demetri stated casually, his eyes turning purple around the pupils and spreading to cover his entire irises.

"You wouldn't dare." My father growled.

"I've already made it clear that I will destroy anything that stands in the way of me and my mate." He declared ruthlessly, "And if her family stands in the way of us, then I won't spare you."

"Leave, so she can get dressed." He ordered.

Demetri had not given my parents a chance to refuse as he threw the royal command at them.

No one can refuse a royal command, and I watched as my parents reluctantly left the room.

Leaving me standing with the towel wrapped around my body and my dried tears sicking to my cheeks.

"Put some clothes on." Demetri said roughly shoving the bag into my arms. "I'm taking you home, the doctors will come to the castle with your test results."

I quietly made my way into the bathroom where I dressed in a blue bra and panty set and a white tank top paired with dark blue denim jeans.

I carelessly clipped up my hair before pushing my feet in some soft comfortable flat shoes.

Looking at the jewelry and make up in the bag I didn't feel like wearing any but I can't look like crap just because I feel like crap.

So I put on the leaf necklace and the angel wing earrings with the bracelet.

I did my makeup very lightly with some dark eye shadow and a little concealer to hide the fact that I was crying. I also applied a little blush after noticing that I was pale as fuck and put on some pink lip gloss.

When I was finished, I exited the bathroom to find Demetri waiting for me beside the bathroom door.

"You look lovely." He stated leaning in to place a kiss on my slack lips.

I stayed quiet and he took the bag from me and placed it on the table beside him before cupping my cheeks.

"I know you're angry with me right now but I promise you that everything will get better. I love you Jessabell- even though you don't believe me- but I really do and I will do anything to make you Happy." He said sincerely.

As soon as I opened my mouth to say something he said,

"Anything except letting you go."

Fuck you. I thought angrily flipping him off and stepping away from him.

"Let's go." He said taking my arm and leading me out of the room.

I was prepared for his reaction of anger which never came,

I was prepared to see a happy Luna Alaine as Demetri led me from the room,

I was prepared to witness my mournful parents who looked as if I was just given a death sentence.

I was prepared for the nurses and doctors dropping small bows as Demetri and I made our way out of the small private hospital.

But I sure as hell wasn't prepared for the group of paparazzi gathered outside the hospital awaiting Demetri and I.
