"Excuse me?" I asked in disbelief. I don't have a mate.

"I'm your mate." He replied walking closer to the bed.

"Mom, this is not funny." I said looking at her with horror filled eyes.

"I know," she replied. "You've been out for over a day Jessabell, you shouldn't have woken up at all but you did and it's because he gave you his blood why you woke up alright."

"Can you guys give us a minute alone please." Mom addressed my friends who complied with her wishes, striding from the room after giving me brief hugs and small kisses on the cheek.

When the door closed behind them, my mother settled back into the chair looking at me.

"Jessabell, you tried to kill yourself Friday night." She said sounding distressed.

I gasped in disbelief, no! That's not true.

"I would never do that." I said as years filled my eyes.

"Yes you would, And you did." She sighed taking my hand "Honey, the only reason you're still alive is because Demetri gave you his blood."

Demetri? That's his name? Wait a second! Demetri as in prince Demetri?

"Are you the prince?" I asked softly, looking up at him and he nodded.

"Do you remember me?" He sounds so hopeful and I hadn't the heart to crush his hopes but I don't know him.

Shaking my head in denial, I said "No, but I know your name, Monique used to talk about the princes when we were younger."

"You don't know me out side of what your friend has said." He sighed settling on the end of the bed.

"I know you get featured In magazines as one of new York's most eligible bachelors." I said trying to placate his expression of sadness.

It worked, he smiled at me and I felt my heart melt a little, he's absolutely gorgeous. He looks so sweet.

"Not anymore, the magazines are now wondering who my mate is and who will be their new princess."

I grimaced at the word 'princess'. It sounds so formal and just strange. Ha Princess Jessabell. I could die laughing at the title alone.

"I kind of feel bad for Monique. This is her dream, not mine." I told him placing my elbows on my legs and resting my cheeks in each palm. "She's princess material not me."

"Well she is a princess too." He responded smiling. Huh?

My mother rose from her chair, walking over to Demetri she motioned him to the door.

"We'll be back in a second honey." Mom said leading Demetri from the room.

They were outside for a while before Demetri returned alone.

"Where's my mom?" I asked rubbing my upper arms.

"She's gone to the gynaecology ward, you dad will be here soon." He said sitting in the chair my mother had vacated a few minutes ago.

"Okay." I said "So what happened?"

"You really don't remember anything?"

"Not really, when I try, my head starts to hurt so I just don't really bother trying, why would you continue to do something that will cause you pain?"

His expression took on a look of guilt but changed so quickly, I thought I'd imagined it.

"Is that how you feel about everything?" He inquired softly reaching his hand out to touch my cheek, he looked like he had to touch me.

"What do you mean?"

"In general, if something hurts you too much you just give up?"

"Not really, you make it sound bad." I said with a slight grimace "you make me sound like a wimp."

"I didn't mean to, it's just a question, you don't have to answer."

"I don't like getting hurt, nobody really does." I told him shaking my head.

"That's true." He said, there was a beat of silence before he grabbed my hands and pressed them to his lips.

I jumped in surprise and looked at him. He looks so heartbroken.

"I was so worried about you, I though I'd lost you." He said in a broken voice

"It's alright, I'm here." I said pulling my hand from his to stroke his cheek.

I feel sorry for him, he seems so nice and I don't like seeing nice people sad or in pain. And he sounds as though he genuinely cares about me.

"Your heart stopped," he said looking in to my eyes, his filled with tears. "Twice."

"I'm fine now. I'm not going anywhere." I said and he got on the bed and wrapped his arms around me.

A rush of tingles so sharp and concentrated flooded my body causing me to gasp and pull away from him a little.

"I love you." He said hugging me to his chest, "I love you so much and I can't loose you."

At his last words, there was a blinding flash of white happening behind my eyelids. It brightness sending bolts of pain to my head causing me to grab my head and shriek in pain.

"What's wrong?" Demetri asked holding me away from him a little, looking at me with worry etched into his face.

"I think I almost remembered something, but whenever i almost remember my head starts to hurt really badly. I just told you this." I said rubbing my temples. "This one's different though, it feels more recent like it happened right before I lost my memories."

Demetri's face contorted into an expression of horror. Why would it be horrific if I regained my memories?

"Well do you remember anything?"

"No." I said slowly looking at him suspiciously, "Is there something you need to tell me?"

"Yes." He said, he sounds honest. "But I'd rather not tell you until you're alright."

"I'm okay." I said. I can't actually believe that I'm actually sitting here and talking to a stranger who claims to be my mate.

All my memories are fine except the ones involving him and I'm confused as to why I won't remember him.

I've heard people say you tend to forget the most horrific and terrifying things that happen to you.

Is that what has happened to me?

Is Demetri so horrendous that I actually forgot my own mate?

"I think you should get some sleep." Demetri said snapping me out of my thoughts.

Looking up at him, I noticed his eyes here veiled. He appeared completely composed and perfectly relaxed.

"I don't want to sleep." I told him running my hands over my face then attempting to run them through my hair. Key word was attempted, my hair is so damn tangled.

I think birds would see my hair and run and shriek in horror at the sight of it.

Demetri smirked and at first I thought it was because if my awful looking hair but then he brushed my cheek with the tip of his index finger.

I gasped and shuddered as shockwaves of pleasure shot through me.

"It's nice to see that you're enjoying my company." He said smugly and I frowned slapping his hand away.

"Good to see you're the epitome of charming." I said sarcastically and he grinned at me.

"I need to bathe and stuff." I replied rolling my eyes, "I can't sleep dirty."

"Ah, yes." He stepped away from me pushing his hands in his pockets, "I have some things for you in my car, I'll go and get them if you like." He offered smiling at me and I blushed.

He's so cute and sweet. I thought with a dreamy sigh hearing him chuckle gave me shivers, pleasurable shivers.

"Jessabell," Demetri called softly, my eyes snapped to his sparkling silver orbs. "I can hear your thoughts. I just thought you should know."

I froze and gasped in shock and embarrassment. Oh my sweet baby Jesus.

"E-Everything?" I stuttered feeling my face flood with blood. Oh My God!

"Yes everything." He smirked sitting beside me on the bed once more.

"How?"

"I marked you, and you marked me so we're practically completely bonded."

My mind flashed white for a second but then an image appeared of Demetri with his fangs dripping blood, replacing the white canvas of erased memories. Temporarily erased it would seem.

I gasped and clutched my head with my hands as pain lanced through my head taking my breath away.

"Jessy?" Demetri asked, I felt a hand on my back as I tried to suck oxygen into my deprived lungs. "What's wrong?" He sounded worried.

"My head." I gasped out squeezing my eyes shut, tears leaking from them.

I heard the door to my hospital room open quietly, then my mother's shrill voice shrieked.

"What have you done to her?" The accusation which she flung at Demetri was very clear in her tone.

"Nothing." He came back defensively, "I told her we marked each other and she said her head hurts."

"Jess, baby, did you remember something?" Mom asked and I moved my head slightly indicating that I have.

"What did you remember?" Demetri inquired a note of panic and a hint of horrific worry taking over his tone.

By this, the pain in my head had already begun to recede and I was able to look up into Demetri's gray eyes.

"I remembered you." I said softly, studying his face closely for any expression which crosses his face.

There wasn't any hiding or denying the look of pure horror which settled upon the Prince's face.

I don't think he would have been able to hide it even if he had wanted to.

I glanced at my mother briefly to see her wide eyed but smirking.

"Why is it so bad that i remember you?" I asked suspiciously, a feeling of dread settling in my bones.

"What did you do to me?" I asked my heart beating rapidly in my chest.

"What did you remember about him hon?" Mom asked rubbing my back.

"Him marking me, i think." My eyebrows pulled together.

I'm not sure if that is what that was but it seemed like it because that's the image which came to mind when he mentioned me being marked.

"What did you see?" Demetri asked sitting beside me once more and taking both of my hands in his.

"You haven't answered my question."

"I will, as soon as I know you're alright."

"Just you with your very large fangs, which were covered in blood." I told him reluctantly.

"That's it?"

I nodded and he sighed in relief. I gasped in surprise when he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into his broad chest. Despite the tingles which were running riot in my body confirming that we are mates, i still felt very weird in his arms.

He has claimed that he's my mate, the shockwaves are there but i don't trust him.

He's royalty, so i don't trust him even more.

And moreover, a blind person can see very clearly that he has something to hide. Something that has to do with me or the both of us.

The door opened once again and Dr. Grey entered carrying my chart in his hand along with some tablets. Demetri pulled away from me at his arrival.

"Hello again, Miss. Archer. " He smiled and i returned the smile.

"Hi Dr. Grey." I said taking the large blue tablet and the two small ones which he offered me.

"Take them after you have had something to eat, remember nothing too heavy. "

"Can i have mac and cheese?" I questioned with a smile and he laughed.

"Yes Jessabell, you can have that."

"Dr. Grey, she just remembered something. " My mother said stopping him from leaving.

"Really? What did you remember?" He asked gazing at me with intreagued eyes.

"Him." I muttered motioning to Demetri who still sat beside me on the bed.

"How did you remember?" He started writing something on the chart as i related the happenings of the last few minutes to him.

"Hmm" He mused scratching his chin which was slightly shadowed with the beginnings of a beard.

"Hmm, what? " Mom asked frowning.

"Well it seems that Jessabell's memory was jogged by what Prince Demetri told her. " Dr. Grey said, "Jessabell shouldn't have remembered anything for at least a week but it seems that his Majesty's blood is more powerful than i initially thought. I think that if you just keep reminding her of the things she forgot she will soon remember everything and be back to normal." Dr. Grey said then left the room, my mother trailing behind him with her phone at her ear ordering someone to bring me mac and cheese.

It would be great if i remember everything. I feel like I'm dependent on them while i don't remember everything. I feel like I'm basically at their mercy and that they have some power over me.

I don't think that my mother would abuse the power which she has over me but I'm not sure about the prince.

Demetri, i really don't trust. He seems as though he would not hesitate to jump at the chance yo use my memory loss against me.

Demetri spun around to look at me, his kissable lips twisted in a wry smile.

"It's funny. " He mused softly brushing my cheek with the back of his hand.

"What is?"

"You don't remember me and yet you still have the same opinion of me."

"I didn't like you before?" I questioned slightly surprised.

Something which i couldn't decipher flashed in his eyes before he sighed and shook his head slowly.

"Not that, you didn't trust me and you thought i was an opportunistic bastard." He told me and i blanched in shock.

"I'm sorry." I whispered and he smiled slightly

"It's okay, it's my fault you feel that way about me. I haven't exactly been the best mate to you."

"What did you do to me?" I asked him not sure that i really wanted to know.

"I marked you because i was angry with you, not because you wanted me to." He confessed and my eyes widened.

"You marked me by force!" I gasped horrified

"I'm sorry, i should have waited until you were ready for me to mark you."

"What else did you do to me?" I needed to know what horrible things he has done to me why i couldn't remember him.

He hesitated for few seconds before responding.

"Nothing else."

"You're lying. " i accused, glaring at him with narrowed eyes.

"Now is not the ti-"

"Tell me what you did. NOW! " I growled gritting my teeth against the desire to hit him.

He didn't answer with words, instead he lifted my left arm so that my wrist was dangling before my face and the bracelet which clung to my wrist flashed in the light of the room.

I instantly recalled the pages from my wolf history textbook which focused on the royal heirloom which now clung to my wrist.

Looking from the bracelet to Demetri then back again i felt a wave of anger so strong i couldn't control my actions.

I lifted my hand and slapped him across the face.
