《The Prince's Stubborn Mate》Chapter 15- Apologies

When we got back to the castle, Demetri walked me to his room. For the drive back we didn't speak, he didn't say anything to me and I ignored him while pretending he didn't exist. When we got to the room, Demetri left me and went into the bathroom. I kicked off my shoes and placed the sun glasses on the side table beside the bed then lay down on my stomach. After about twenty minutes Demetri exited the bathroom with only a thick green towel around his waist. He glanced at me briefly then went into the closet. He returned wearing a pair of dark blue jeans and a white T-shirt which clung to his broad chest displaying the outline of his bulging muscles. I felt my cheeks redden as I stared at his very appealing body. I turned my face the other way.

The bed sunk as he sat beside me. "Are you hungry?" He asked in a concerned voice as he rubbed small circles on my back. I shook my head slightly and his hand moved up to stroke my hair.

"You lost weight Jessabell, you need to eat." He said running his fingers through my hair .

"I'm not hungry," I mumbled turning to look at his beautiful face. How the hell can someone be so damn beautiful and yet so devilish at the same time. Well they did say the devil is beautiful so it would be fitting if Demetri was the physical, mental and emotional embodiment of the devil.

"I may be a devil, but I am only your devil." Demetri said smirking "And you are my angel only, Jessabell. You belong to me."

I stared at him blankly. I didn't respond but I couldn't stop my thoughts.

I belong to no one but me. I thought, Demetri, of course read my mind and smiled. Leaning down to kiss my cheek electric shocks erupted all over my face I placed my palm on the solid wall of his muscled chest and attempted to push him back as he trailed kisses down to my neck. I pushed him a little harder and the shocks that were erupting in my face and neck traveled to my arm.

Demetri leant back and looked at me with a smile.

"Come have something to eat." He said and I frowned while I shook my head slightly.

"No, I'm not hungry." I mumbled turning my head the other direction.

"You need to eat." He said rubbing small circles on my back.

"I'll eat when I'm hungry." I muttered half awake as I blinked sleepily.

"Okay, I'm going to leave you to sleep for a little while."

"Hmm."

"When I get back you'll eat something, yes?" He asked and I wanted to answer him but I was too tired to respond.

"Will you eat something Jessabell?"

"Yeah, sure whatever." I pulled enough energy to say.

"I'll be back soon love." He said kissing my cheek one last time before he left closing the door behind him, that was the last thing I heard before I fell into a deep dreamless sleep.

I opened my eyes and sat up looking around the now darkening room. What time is it? I thought switching on the lamp on the side table beside me. I know it's Saturday but what time is it? It must be evening.

The door to the room opened and Demetri walked in. He froze when he saw me sitting up and looking at him.

"Hey." He said smiling as he walked towards me.

"Hi." I replied blandly looking around the room.

"Ready for something to eat?" Demetri asked and I shrugged.

He pulled his iPhone 6 out of his pocket and called someone telling them to 'send it up now'.

Demetri sat staring at me for about five minutes while I avoided looking at him. He reached up and ran his fingers through my hair. I still didn't look at him. I sensed someone coming closer and closer to the room and I fixed my gaze on the door. Soon enough, there was a gentle knock, Demetri told the person to enter and a short middle aged looking man entered the room with a silver covered tray. The man handed the tray to Demetri with a short bow and a mumbeled 'your majesties' before leaving the room.

Demetri uncovered the tray to reveal a plate with lasagna and a glass of juice. He handed me the plate and a fork. I took the plate and the fork and began eating slowly, I kept my eyes on the plate but I could feel Demetri's eyes stuck to my face. His eyes were boring flaming holes into my face and it was making me in comfortable.

When I was finished eating I drank the glass of cranberry juice and muttered a slight thank you.

Rising from the bed, I walked into the bathroom and brushed my teeth then slowly walked back into the room.

"Your mother sent a suitcase of clothes for you." Demetri said as I sat a little away from him on the bed.

"How sweet of her." I mumbled with absolutely no emotion in my voice. Demetri looked at me as his eyebrows pulled together in confusion and worry.

"Are you alright Jessabell?" He inquired moving towards me and cupping my cheek as he tried to get me to look at him. Probably to get me to look in him in the eyes. I don't want to be near him much less to look him in his big beautiful gray eyes. I kept my eyes on his shirt covered muscular chest.

"Yes." I replied

"Why won't you look at me?"

"I am looking at you." I answered knowing that's not what he meant.

"Jessabell stop this right now and look at me." He commanded authoritatively but I ignored his command and asked

"And if I don't look at you? What will you do?"

"I won't do anything." He said softly holding my other cheek with his other hand. He was sitting before me on my side of the bed and framing my face in his hands. "Just please look at me." He begged.

"Demetri, I am looking at you."

" look me in the eyes."

"I'd rather not." I mumbled. "Look I'm tired can I jus-"

"You just woke up!" Demetri growled as he raised his voice at me making me jump in fright.

Immediately I tried to move away from him. I quickly attempted to scramble backwards with my hands.

He let me go and let me move away from him as he looked at me with a pained expression.

"I won't hurt you."

"That is what you said the last time." I replied with a slight hint of bitterness in my voice.

"Jessabell I'm sorry for everything that I have done to hurt you since we met. I'm so very sorry." Demetri said looking at me with sad eyes.

"Sorry doesn't mean anything." I said softly pulling my knees up to my chest and resting my chin on my knees as my back pressed against the headboard.

"It means everything if you will forgive me for hurting you." He pleaded taking my left hand and holding it between both of his. "I need you to forgive me."

"You don't need me to do anything. And I really don't see the point when you're going to do it again."

"I never meant to hurt you darling. I'm so very sorry."

"Stop saying that." I muttered "you would do it again in a heart beat if I do something that you dislike so please spare me the insincere apologies." I pulled my hand from his and looked at the silver bracelet clinging to my wrist. I smiled ruefully as I jiggled my wrist.

Demetri's eyes fell to the silver bracelet and he sighed softly then reached to touch it.

As his fingers made contact with the bracelet, a shimmering golden light erupted from the bracelet and traveled up my arm warming my body with electric sparks. Demetri moved his eyes from my hand and looked at my face. Despite my recent decision to not look I'm in the eyes, I raised mine and locked them with his.

"If you're really sorry, take the bracelet off." I said softly and he frowned as he pulled away from me.

"I can't." He muttered "I'm sorry but it can't."

"It's okay, I didn't really expect you to take it off."

"Jessabell it's not that I ca-" he began but I cut him off.

"I said it's okay. Just leave me alone now please." I mumbled looking away from him. He tried to say something again but my response stopped him.

"Just go." I said and he sighed before getting off the bed and walking to the door. Before he exited, I called him and he turned looking at me with a dejected expression.

"Can I have my phone back please?"I asked softly and he nodded.

"Its in the drawer." He said pointing to the night table on my side of the bed. With that said, he walked out closing the door behind him and leaving me alone. I went into the closet and found my clothes, I pulled on a light pink pajam suit. Then went back to bed. Laying down I pulled the phone out and turned it on to see that I had twenty four missed calls. Ten from Derek, two from toddy, four from Irene, two from Dallas, three from Tyler, two from coach and one from Kaitlyn.

Irene Clarke was the Captain of the cheer leading team, she was probably calling to see if I wanted to go shopping or something of that sort.

Dallas and Tyler are on the football team with me so them and coach were probably calling to ask why I wasn't at practice. And lastly, Kaitlyn.

Kaitlyn is this nerdy girl at school. Truth be told, she doesn't belong at GregoryHawk Academy, she's too soft and feminine and way too innocent and delicate. She's basically defenseless against all the bull dogs at school and that's why she's my friend. When she just came to the school I was assigned to show her around. After the first week, I left her alone to get integrated into a clique of her choice but she was too smart and too delicate to fit in anywhere so I took her with me and allowed her to sit at my table with the footballers at lunch.

At first she was scared of them and they thought she was prudish. But after the first week with us, she warmed up and we all became friends. Monique still doesn't like her though.

Dialing Kaitlyn's number I called her, she picked up on the third ring.

"Jessabell!!!" She screeched and I winced and held the phone a little away from my ear "I was so damn worried about you!" She said and I smiled.

"Yeah, I know you missed me. I missed you too." I said laying down on my back.

"This isn't funny, Derek told me you were in the hospital." She said and I 'hmmed' in reply

"Why? What Happened?"

"I had a nervous breakdown." I explained shortly.

"Really? how?" she asked and I frowned.

"I met my-" I stopped abruptly as the bedroom door opened and Demetri walked in again.

"You met your what Jessy?" She asked I stayed silent as Demetri's gray eyes stayed glued to my face.

"JESS!!!" Kaitlyn screamed causing me to wince. I looked away from Demetri and mumbled lamely,

"My mate."

A loud shriek reached my ears and I held the phone away. Demetri walked over to the bed and stared at me as I tried to avoid his gaze.

"Tell me everything! What's he like? Is he cute? Is he nice? How old is he?" She asked in a rush.

"Kait stop. Please." I begged and she stopped abruptly.

"What's wrong?" She asked concerned "aren't you happy?"

"I am anything but." I mumbled rolling over onto my side and facing the wall.

"What happened?"

"I already told you what happened."

"Who is he anyway?" She inquired an edge of anger tipping her tone "He sounds like a jerk."

With Demetri's extra sensitive hearing, I'm sure he heard what Kait had said, but to make it even more obvious that he heard he let out a low growl of annoyance.

"He's not a jerk." I said softly "jerks are nice in comparison to him."

Kaitlyn laughed and I gave a half smile.

"Who is he?"

"It doesn't matter who he his." I muttered and Demetri sat beside me. Grabbing my upper arm, he flipped me onto my back as he stared into my face.

"Kait I gotta go."

"What, you just called we haven't even tal-"

"Yeah, I just called to tell you I was okay." I replied quickly.

"But yo-"

"Bye k." I said and hung up.

"Why did you do that?" Demetri asked laying down and wrapping his arms around me. I tensed in his hold.

"Do what?"

"Hang up on your friend."

"I didn't feel like talking to her anymore." I said pulling my arms up so that my fists rested under my chin as I closed my eyes.

"Because I came back." Demetri asked but the question came out more like a statement. "I wouldn't have said anything you know." He said but I didn't respond so he continued "I already know how you feel about me, I would have no right to be angry with you if you told your friend you didn't like me."

Unable to help myself I thought 'oh i feel so much more than just dislike towards you. It's more like a boiling hatred that's growing stronger by the day.' Demetri heard, of course and heaved a sigh.

"I don't have the energy to fight with you tonight Jessabell." He said pulling away from me. I opened my eyes and watched him Get up and go into the closet. He returned wearing a pair of dark blue sweatpants and his muscular chest. He was shirtless and as I looked at the hard planes of his chest I felt myself blush. I heard him chuckle and I flipped onto my side giving him my back.

Demetri lay down behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. Like always, I tensed at his touch.

"Relax." He said softly shuffling closer to me. "Go to sleep Jessabell."

Demetri fell asleep not long after that sentence I however stayed wide awake plagued by worrying thoughts of demetri and what life will be like with him until the early hours of the morning I fell into a light sleep.
