《Loving Min Yoongi: How To Love Him》Chapter 77

"Ah, we're here." Alex had a huge smile on her face. They had taken a private jet and had just landed at a small airport back in Missouri. Everyone grabbed their luggage and headed off the plane to the two SUV's Alex had waiting for them.
"I'll drive one car, who wants to drive the other one?" Alex looked at everyone but RM. He still hadn't gotten his license.
"I'll drive!" Jungkook raised his hand.
"OK, everyone split up." Jimin, Jin and Hobi went with JK, while Tae, Yoongi and RM got in Alex's car. She popped the address into the GPS for JK, "Alright, let's go!"
She got back in her car and they drove off. "How far is it from here?" Tae was looking out the window as she drove.
"About a half hour north. It won't take long." She navigated the roads like the back of her hand. No matter how long she had been away, she always knew how to get back home.
They finally arrived at her mom's and pulled down the gravel driveway to the back of the house. They parked the cars and everyone started unloading. The guys stood there and looked around. RM was nodding his head, "Alex, this is place is great."
She looked around and smiled, "It is, isn't it?"
"Let's head inside and say hi to my mom, then we'll get you settled in to your rooms." She lead them up the sidewalk to the back door. They entered the foyer, then into the kitchen where Alex's mom was waiting for them.
"Hi! Come on in guys, welcome to our humble abode." She ushered them all in.
"Thank you so much for having us." Jimin gave Sabrina a small bow.
"Oh, it's nothing, we're just glad you were able to get the time off."
"OK, let's figure out sleeping arrangements." Alex pointed down the hall, "Down there is my mom's room, and then three bedrooms with king beds. Over here through the living room is the office, and it has a murphy bed."
"I want the office." Yoongi called out with his hand raised.
"It's your girl's house, so you can have first pick." RM gave him a wink.
Alex took Yoongi to the office to show him where to leave his stuff while the guys played rock-paper-scissors to see who was bunking together in the other three rooms. In the end, Tae and Jimin were in one room, Hobi and RM were in the second room, and Jin and Jungkook took the third room. Sabrina took them back so they could drop their bags off. They came back out to the kitchen as Alex and Yoongi were coming in from the living room.
"So where are you sleeping Alex?"
"My sister's room is downstairs in the finished lower level. I'll share with her." She looked over at her sister who was just coming up the stairs. "Speaking of the devil, guys, this is my sister Katherine, but we call her Kat."

Kat went and shook each of their hands as they introduced themselves. "It's nice to meet all of you finally. You're a popular topic in this house." The guys all laughed as Sabrina's face turned pink.
"OK, so, why don't we go sit out on the deck." She led them over to the doors leading out to the back deck. "We thought maybe we could have some drinks, and I'll cook dinner in a little while once you guys are hungry."
"They're always hungry." Alex rolled her eyes as they all found somewhere to sit. Jungkook took the lounge chair, Jimin and Tae took the rocking chairs, and the rest of them sat around the table, also known as the hexagon. It was where all of the deep discussions happened with family and friends.
From the deck you could look out past the barn to the fields beyond. It wasn't a large farm, but just enough to be spacious and peaceful. Her mom still had a few cows and chickens, which added to the country feel. It was one of the last farms left in the area, just outside the suburbs.
Alex put on some music for background noise, while Sabrina brought out glasses and shot glasses for everyone. "Do we want beer? Soju? Wine? I have it all."
Tae raised his hand, "All of the above, please." He gave her his charming smile.
Alex helped get the drinks while the guys talked amongst themselves. When the drinks were finally passed around, Alex and Sabrina sat down to join the conversation just as Neens showed up.
"Hi guys! Did I miss anything yet?" She walked over and sat down next to Jimin and gave him a wink.
Alex laughed, "Nothing yet, we just got here a little bit ago and got them settled in their rooms. Now we're drinking and relaxing. What do you want to drink?"
"Oh, I'll have a little bit of soju." Alex went to pour her a small glass.
Hobi was looking out over the property, "This is so peaceful, how long have you lived here?"
Neens took over, "Well, all my life pretty much. This house was built by my father, back when it was a dairy farm. Then after my parents passed away I took it over."
"Wow, so this was a dairy farm?" Tae scooted his chair forward.
"Oh yeah, we use to provide milk to some of the bigger local distributors. It was exciting. As a child, we would get their first round of mint ice-cream at Christmas time." RM made a disgusted face off to the side when Neens wasn't looking. He hated mint ice-cream. "But, once my parents passed away I took over the farm and now we lease it out to other farmers for crops."
The atmosphere was relaxed as the conversation rolled on. They kept the drinks going and the guys enjoyed hearing Neens' stories whenever they asked her about their family and Alex. "Oh, let me tell you this girl gave me grey hair, but she is her mother through and through, nothing like her father, thank the Lord." The alcohol was getting to her finally.

RM leaned up in his chair, "Sabrina, do you mind if I ask about Alex's dad? Did he pass away?"
Sabrina looked over at Alex to see if she cared about sharing the details with them. Alex waved her hand to let her know to go ahead. "Well, shortly after I had her brother, their father had a bit of a midlife crisis. One day he just decided he couldn't handle family life anymore. . . . so he left. At the time I was working as a consultant and traveling every week, so I accepted a position as project manager for a large healthcare company so I could work from home. I brought the kids here to the farm to raise them with Neens. I wanted them to have a place with roots after they were grown and went out to see the world. Somewhere they could always call home."
Jimin looked over at Neens, "So you and Sabrina raised Alex and her brother and sister together?"
"We sure did." She smiled proudly over at Alex.
Tae suddenly stood up and hugged Neens from behind, "You did a great job, Alex is wonderful." He sat back down in his chair as everyone smiled at him. They knew Tae had a soft spot after having been raised by his own grandmother.
Jungkook looked over at Sabrina, "What about Alex's brother, is he not here?"
Sabrina took a sip of her soju as she gave a knowing look to Alex, "Well, he's in the military. Right now he's deployed."
"That must be really hard for you guys." RM was looking at Sabrina with sincerity.
She shrugged her shoulders, "That's part of being a military family. You learn to acclimate to their schedules and the unknown. We don't know what he does or where he goes. We just wait until he can check in with us and let us know how things are going."
Yoongi looked over at Alex. She was smiling as her mom spoke about her brother. This explained why she was able to compromise so freely, and adjust to their relationship the way she had. It comforted him knowing that this wasn't something new for her, that she could cope with his schedule and the changes they would go through. He rubbed his thumb over hers as he held her hand under the table.
Sabrina continued, "I won't lie, it was an adjustment, especially for me. He and I were very close before he joined. I have a soft spot for my baby boy. I think that's why I have such an affinity for you guys. Watching you go through your debut at such a young age, I don't know that I could have sent you off on your own so young."
Yoongi smiled, "Our parents would agree. We're not sure how they did it either. They just knew we had a passion and we needed to follow it."
Sabrina nodded her head, "There's nothing wrong with going after your passion. I could have done a lot of different things with my life, but then the kids came and I wanted them to have stability. It's one of the reasons I've urged all of them to try new things, to see the world and experience different environments."
"Yes, but always have a plan!" Alex was laughing at the use of her mom's favorite motto.
"Hey, I'm a realist. If you want to do something, that's fine. Just be prepared by putting in your due diligence." She stuck her tongue out at Alex then took another sip of her drink. "Ok, who's hungry?" Everyone raised their hands. "I'll start cooking then."
"I'll help." Yoongi stood up from his chair.
"Right on, follow me." Sabrina lead him back into the kitchen to start preparing the food.
Alex gave him a thumbs up before he walked in. She looked back over at Neens, "I hope she goes easy on him."
________
Sabrina and Yoongi came out a little while later with giant pots of chapaguri and plates loaded with grilled steak. The guys' eyes lit up as they passed plates and bowls around the table. Everyone ate happily until there was nothing left.
"That was delicious, thank you." Jungkook leaned back in his chair and rubbed his stomach.
"It was my pleasure." Sabrina cleared the table with RM and Hobi.
"Well I better get home, its getting late." Neens stood up from her chair.
"Don't you live here?" Tae stood with her.
"Oh, I live next door now with my sister." She pointed to the house across the yard. "I'll see you boys later, enjoy yourselves." She turned to Alex to hug her goodbye and whispered in her ear, "That Yoongi is sweet with you, I like him." She kissed her on the cheek then left.
Sabrina came to tell them all goodnight, then headed to bed herself. Alex and the guys were still on the deck with their drinks. "I'm really glad you all were able to come." She looked around the table at them.
"I am too, I think this will be good for all of us before we go back home." Yoongi gave her a smile as the guys nodded their heads in agreement. They stayed up talking for another hour before they headed to bed. Yoongi and Alex stayed back on the deck. "I had a really nice time tonight. Your mom is really great."
"You mean she didn't scare you away?" Alex bumped her shoulder with his.
Yoongi laughed and put his arms around her, "No, we had a good conversation while we cooked. I think we'll all get along well this week."
"Good, that makes me very happy." She wrapped her arms around his neck. "Kiss me goodnight, we need to get to bed." He leaned down and kissed her forehead, then her lips.
"I'll see you in the morning."
She smiled up at him, "Night."
