《New Life [Itachi x Reader]》21

At some point, I woke up and found myself on my bed. I looked at my body and saw that I'm covered in bandages. I can't remember how I got here and how they found me, but I'm glad they did. I didn't know how many hours, or maybe days, have passed at all.
My bedroom door opened and I saw Itachi in the doorway. He was stunned for a moment before rushing towards me. "You're awake. Do you need something?"
"W... Water" I answered in a hoarse voice.
Itachi quickly grabbed the glass filled with water beside my bed and pointed the straw at my mouth.
"Thank you..." I said after drinking a few sips of water. "How long have I been unconscious?"
"Three days" he answered. "How are you feeling?"
"Barely alive" I joked, but Itachi didn't laugh. Then, I realized that he has leaned over me.
"Are you sure that you're okay?" He asked worriedly. I smiled to myself, he was always serious.
"Yeah... I will recover soon" I reassured him.
Itachi breathed a sigh of relief. "...That's good". He took a chair, placed it next to my bed and sat on it.
"Is it you who found me?" I asked.
Itachi nodded in response and I smiled at him. "Thank you"
"I should have come sooner" he said, his forehead creased.
"It's okay. I'm grateful that you found me"
Itachi hesitated for a moment, then he took my hand gently.
"What are you doing?" I asked, cheeks growing dark.
He saw his hand that was holding mine, and the corners of his lips are slightly raised. He smiled. At that time, something inside me wanted to make him smile more often.
"Holding your hand" Itachi answered.
"I... I know" My heart was beating so loud, I could hear each beat. I wondered if he could hear it too. "I mean... Why did you do that??"

"To be honest, I don't know why either, but this just feels right"
I blushed, refused to respond him. Seriously, didn't he understand that his words have a big effect on a girl's feelings??
"(Y/N)" he said. "I'm sorry. Everything that happened to you is my fault" his voice was filled with guilt.
"Don't say that" I replied. "I never blame you"
"If only I had never told you to leave, none of this would have happened"
I smiled at him. "Then, don't tell me to leave again"
Itachi looked at me intently. "Never"
We both fell silent, but this time it didn't feel awkward. The silence was comfortable. Itachi's hand still held mine. I dreamed that his big hands were always holding mine, but I can't go on living in the dream.
"Itachi?"
"Hmm?" he hummed in response.
"Your hand is still holding mine" I reminded him.
"I know" he said. "And you're holding it back"
"Of course" I giggled. "I don't know when an opportunity like this will come again, so now I won't waste it"
Itachi didn't say anything. He just stared at our linked hands, as if it's the most attractive thing in the world.
"Is there something on your mind?" I asked.
"I've always wondered... Why do you fall in love with me?" he asked me back. His voice shrank at the end of his question.
I stunned when I heard his question, but then I gave him a soft smile. "Do you really want to know?"
He nodded, and I sighed.
"Fine, I'll tell you why" I looked into his eyes earnestly. "I love you because you're you. As simple as that"
Itachi looked down. "But I'm... not worthy to be loved"
"Everyone deserves to be loved"
"I'm not whole"

"Itachi, listen" I looked at him in the eyes. "You're my moon"
"...Your moon?"
"Yes. Sometimes the moon is crescent shaped. Sometimes semicircular. Sometimes it's full moon"
Itachi stared at me, waiting for me to continue my words.
"Whatever the shape of the moon, I still love it. I'll keep loving you even when you're incomplete" I continued.
Itachi's pearl-like black eyes never left mine. "...And you're my sun. All this time, I lived in darkness. Then, you came" Itachi smiled at me. That smile. I love seeing him smiling. "You're so bright. Makes me feel alive. You know, humans can't live without the sun, and I'm human"
If someone could have died from being too happy, I would be dead by now.
"But, (Y/N)..." Itachi looked away. "You know that he sun and the moon... could never be together"
My feeling that had flown, suddenly fell. "What do you mean?" I asked.
"We... can't be together"
I hold back my tears "...Why?"
Itachi closed his eyes. "I promise I'll explain it to you, but not now. Please be patient until that time comes"
"...Promise?"
"Promise" Itachi linked our little finger. "Now I'll let the other members know that you are awake"
"Wait, Itachi...?"
"Hm?"
"Do you..." I hesitated before continuing my question. "...love me??"
Itachi inhaled deeply, his facial features turning softer with every passing second. He just smiled at me and got up.
I grabbed the hem of his cloak. "My answer"
Itachi turned at me and tapped my forehead with his fingers. "This is your answer"
He gave me a meaningful look before leaving my room. I touched my forehead. What does he mean??

Reality Grants One Chance
Some people are lucky, some aren't, some - have terrible luck. Our "hero" is of the latter kind. During young age he got into an accident, which allowed him to learn the fact that he belongs to a rare group of people.. People diagnosed with lung cancer, which he, however survived. Can't say he's lucky, as his life went downhill from that point... Our story happens years later, when his fate decides to make a loop and throw him in the same kind of accident. He gets hit by a truck. Surviving the crash, suffering just a few scratches, he is ultimately "lucky" to find himself out of the hospital in no time.. however every bit of good luck always brings him terrible luck afterwards. This time pushing him maybe a bit too far.. How far? Making him vanish without a trace and find himself in the middle of an unknown forrest. Doesn't sound bad? He can consider himself lucky? Just wait and see...It can always get worse.. always.. .... Congratulations, you've made it through the intro and into the author note! If you by any chance missed the tags and didn't read the warning, please do that now. I really recommend you to. Before you jump to reading, and unintentionally scar yourself, do mind that the story is about a dark, unforgiving world, a world in which you have more opportunities to die a horrible death, than take a piss. Hero doesn't have great luck, he has dumb persistance, he doesn't go through any trial with a breeze, he pays the price of blood, flesh and tears to live..and will be paying for every mistake.. No one outright explains anything to him, just as us for the most part - he is not sure what the hell is going on.. Some real survival tactics are used as a base of the descriptions, they are as important to the world and character as any other element.. Mind that the story starts really slow, but as the stone starts rolling downhill - the pace gets faster.. Every tag for this novel has a reason to be there, so if you don't see the particular element there, don't panic.. it's either well camoufalged, subtle or simply not encountered as of yet. Big thanks to Hobbo, Enyhrye and Hveth! ...not only pointing that the description could be better, but providing invaluable input.. and being patient enough to give fleshed out advice.

Unique Fusion Magic Hex
World Essence. The mysterious energy coursing throughout the entire land of Vor'ten, and very possibly the entire world. This energy has allowed humanity to flourish, building great empires and vast kingdoms, conquering nature itself with just a sweep of their hand. Humans were the strongest existence, and with the help of channeling this World Essence, many were able to turn into Magic Knights, gaining magical abilities to combat the various fierce beasts throughout the lands.Alas... those glory days of old were long gone. Humanity has now been pushed to the brink of destruction, and now the remaining members of the human race are encased within giant domes known as 'Alkkras', made with the last remaining bits of the World Essence. It was said that those giant domes were the last gifts left by the remnants of the ancient human race, as a means to protect the future generation from the attacks of the many wild beasts roaming outside. Five Spiritualist Invokers, all combined together, used the last bit of the World Essence and sacrificed their lives to lay a gigantic, 1028-seal formation magic array to form these barriers, forever saving humanity, but also trapping humanity within these barriers. However, the humans were never completely helpless. No matter how little World Essence was left, the humans still had some remaining. Realizing the incoming crisis, the humans found a way to seal World Essence inside a special type of crystal. Soon, these crystals began to become implanted into weapons, turning them into World Essence Weapons, and they began to display properties of their own. Extreme heat. Bone chilling cold. Absurd sharpness. These normal weapons, after being imbued with the energy of the World Essence Crystals, began to form natural affinities to elements. Fire. Water. Earth. Wind. Darkness. Light. Using these weapons, one could become a Chevalier that wielded the power of the elements. However, if one wanted to reach a higher level of enlightenment and understanding, one could become an Invoker. Via the study of magic array formations, one could directly use the power of the World Essence to cast devastating magics upon the enemy. These people were Invokers, highly valued for their combat potential by the Army. These weapons and magical arrays were used in the great fight between the humans and the beasts long ago. They had long since been put away in storage, almost long forgotten...However, after ten-thousand years of suppression, the human race is beginning its counterattack against the Beasts... Synth was an Invoker in the Magecroft Academy. However, his talent was terrible, being only at the Spark Stage. This led to him being looked down upon and bullied. He was unable to cast any Calamity-rank or even Destruction rank spells, and was only able to cast Coalescing rank spells at the age of 17, a record low in the academy for cultivating these rare Invokers. Even though he put in more effort than anyone else, he was still unable to advance his Channeling Energy. But due to his constant research and study, Synth ended up creating a power that would go against the heavens - he had found how to Fuse spells together. After trying it out once, merging the magical array for the Small Fireball and the Mortal Judgement skills, he was able to create a mid-rank Destruction tier spell, Holy Judgement Flame. However, after this, no matter how hard he tried, he was unable to fuse more spells together or even cast them, and noticed a weird, pentagram shaped formation on his left arm. He would later call this mark the Fusion Magic Hex, a curse that prevented the wielder from casting magic that wasn't their own...This meant that with the exception of Synth's newly created skill, , he was going to have to create unique magic arrays if he ever wanted to step on the path of becoming an Invoker! This power that destroyed the laws of the Invoking System, and his unyielding persistence in testing and creating new spells, would later gain Synth the nickname the Unique Fusion Hex, and lead him to become one of the strongest beings in the entire World!
