"Y/N, is that you?" I heard a familiar voice call out my name. Turning around to face them, I was face-to-face with my childhood best friend, Shawn. I haven't seen him in a long time since I had to move from Toronto to Calgary, where I currently live. Partially due to the fact that one of my parents had a job transfer and we had to leave...
"Shawn? Shawn Mendes?" I thought out loud and once I started to see him nod his head slowly, I let out a quiet giggle. Sprinting up to him, I attacked him with a huge hug, which made him stumble back a few steps, but he didn't care. He returned the hug back to me before we decided to pull away from the hug. "It's been 4 years since I've last seen you! How are you doing?"
"I'm doing alright. Dropping albums and performing across the globe, you know? Nothing too big." He shrugged his shoulders like it was no big deal.
"I always knew you were going to be famous, muffin man..." I giggled and playfully punched him on the shoulder. Looking down at his right forearm, I carefully inspected what had appeared to be a tattoo of a guitar resembling the skyline of Toronto with the CN Tower. "Shawn Peter Raul Mendes, did you get a tattoo?"
He looked down at it for a second before he looked up at me. A shy smile started to appear on his face and he nodded his head. "Do you like it? I had it done last Monday, the day before my graduation day..."
"Like it? I love it. It reminds me of home, Toronto...." I smiled at him as I heard my order getting called out by a barista. "That's me. Why don't we sit down and talk for a little? We have so much to catch up on." He nodded his head while I went up to the counter and thanked them. I went back to the empty table where I sat before encountering Shawn and waited for him to get his order.

I heard the same barista call out another person's order and from what I saw, it was Shawn's drink. He went up to the counter and also thanked them before he found where I was sitting. As soon as he came and sat down in the seat across from me, we started to talk and talk (took some selfies too) until it was almost closing time.
"Oh, crap. I have to go back to the hotel I'm staying at. It's been good to see you again, Y/N!" Shawn looked down at his phone and started to get up from his seat when an idea popped into my mind.
"Hey, Shawn?" As soon as I mentioned his name, he looked at me with a look of confusion.
"Yeah?" He looked at me as he wanted me to continue what I was going to say to him.
"Why don't I drive you to the hotel you're staying at? I'd be happy to help you out! Since you've always had my back in Toronto."
"Are you sure? I don't want to be a burden or anything..."
"It's my treat, Shawn."
"Ok, if you say so, Y/N/N..."
"Lead the way, Mr. Mendes. My car is the blue one on your right."
"Got it, Ms. L/N."
---
It was already 9 in the evening by the time I had gotten back to my place that I had shared with my boyfriend, Matthew, and soon as I got there, I found Matt looking down at his phone.
"Is everything okay, Matt?" I quietly mumbled as I slowly took my shoes off and walked into the kitchen to get myself a glass of water.
"I don't know...You tell me, Y/N." He muttered to himself as he turned his phone off and set it down on the coffee table. Turning around to face him, he had a look of disappointment on his face as he shook his head. He took a seat in one of the stools that were situated around the kitchen table and rested his head on the granite countertop.

"Matt, what's going on? I don't like seeing you like this..." I sighed as I took a sip of water before he pointed towards my phone. Looking at him a little unsure of what was happening, I slowly typed in my passcode and opened up Twitter, only for my account to be ambushed by tons of mentions, wondering if I was cheating on Matthew with Shawn. Clicking on one of the tweets, I saw a picture of Shawn and I laughing at a childhood memory that we were reminiscing over, I let out a gasp of shock as I realized that a few of the fans had taken pictures of Shawn and I hanging out and mistakingly thought that I was cheating on Matt...
"Matt, you don't understand...." I started to speak up before he raised a hand up and slowly got out of his seat.
"No need, Y/N." Was the last thing that he had said to me before he trudged up the stairs and heard the door slam shut. Judging by the loudness of the slam, I figured out that he went into our shared bedroom. Well, it looked like I was sleeping on the couch tonight.
Walking over to the living room, I had assembled a makeshift bed, using the couch cushions to support my head and neck as they laid on the arm-rest and grabbed a blanket that was laying under the couch. Looking at the time, it was already close to 10 and I was getting pretty tired already. Letting out a loud yawn, I slowly rested my head on the cushion-pillow and slowly started to close my eyes and fall asleep.
---
"Y/N...Wake up." I heard someone whisper to me, but I continued to ignore it as I continued to sleep. "Y/N, I just want to talk to you for a second...."
I opened my eyes and blinked my eyes slowly to make out who was sitting in front of me. Sitting upright on the couch, it turned out to be Matthew who was sitting in front of me right now.
"Matthew? What're you doing here?" I yawned as I looked up at the clock to figure out the time. 2:16 in the morning. Great.
"I can't sleep."
"Really? Why?"
"Since I slammed that door shut, I climbed into our bed and I immediately started to regret that I didn't exactly hear your side of the story. I know you didn't cheat on me and I know that Shawn is a good friend of yours. I honestly made a stupid mistake and I just wanted to apologize to you for what I have done to you. I don't deserve a beautiful and kind-hearted person like you..." Matthew started to break down into tears as he got through the end and even though it was dark, my hands found his cheeks and slowly wiped the tears away. I pressed my lips against his cheek and looked into his blue eyes.
"Jealousy got to you, Matt. I know you were upset at what the fans were trying to do to you. I know that you were stressed from impressing everyone at the development camp. I understand that you made a few mistakes and you know what? I forgive you. You were caught up in the moment and you were ready to boil any second. I'd do anything to make you feel better...Just know, Shawn and I are just friends. You and I," I lifted his chin up so he looked up at me. "Always love each other no matter what obstacle is thrown in front of us. We tackle it together."
My hands were cupping his face and I laid my lips on top of his lips and kissed him in a gentle yet soft way. It eventually grew a bit heated, but I pulled away before anything risky had happened.
"I love you so damn much, Y/N L/N..." Matthew mumbled in my ear and a smile was imminent on my face. I kissed his cheek one more time before I made eye contact with him.
"I love you so damn much too, Matthew Tkachuk...."

At first she was okay with being her own brand-new person, but as more and more ghosts of her past started to slowly catch up, she had no choice but to set off on a journey... Sod's Law (Dropped)
This fiction has been dropped, you're more than welcome to read it anyway (there is sort of an ending). But you have been warned... Sod's law is a more extreme version of Murphy's law. While Murphy's law says that anything that can go wrong, will go wrong (eventually), Sod's law requires that it always goes wrong with the worst possible outcome. For example, concepts such as "bad fortune will be tailored to the individual" and "good fortune will occur in spite of the individual's actions" are sometimes given as examples of Sod's law in action. This would broaden Sod's law to a general sense of being "mocked by fate". In these aspects it is similar to some definitions of irony, particularly the irony of fate. - Definitions of Sod's Law on Wikipedia. The protagonist, as many before them, and many who followed, thought they were just entering a VRMMORPG (Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing-Game). Unbeknownst to them however, was a short paragraph in the Terms & Conditions, that, upon agreement, would actually transport them to a fantasy world, loosely based on the game they thought they were entering. - Something anyone could be forgiven for, no-one reads them after all. In this new world, they discover that people are born with “Traits”, a System recognised, ability, skill, or talent, that they are born with. Sod's Law was not a trait they, or anyone else for that matter, would want. Pure madness follows. Yup, this is about a character transferred to a fantasy game-world with the worst luck imaginable. This is my first fiction so I apologise for any grammar and spelling mistakes that may be made. Hopefully it is readable, and if so please tell me! But if it's not, also tell me, but in a constructive way if at all possible? Due to the nature of the “Trait” the story will be dark in places, with plenty of gore and profanity, hence the tags. There may also be scenes of a sexual nature, but nothing full on – sorry guys but you'll have to go elsewhere for that.
